Amen. I just read that Texas Tech is “working” with us by potentially traveling to Wazzu instead of Eugene, allowing us to play OAC. If this is true I will be beyond mad. On what planet is this a good deal for the Ducks? I would imagine that our admin will also allow this potential game to be played at Reser Arena. This is so stinking weak if true. I am starting to get worried about the weak-spined faction of our fan base and admin having too big of a voice. We need to start acting like a top level program. The first step is to stand by and watch OAC’s athletic future evaporate. That dump has nothing to give us yet we appear to be bending over backwards for them while crying and saying we are sorry. Please take our money OAC. You deserve it sooooo much. We are Oregonians first. What a load of pig excrement.

No need to be salty today. We have already won biggly and OAC has been permanently ruined. The mission has already been accomplished. Here’s to never having to play that horrid program again. Do you feel me Mr. Mullins? They offer nothing. There is zero future upside. I do wish I would have had the foresight to commission a billboard on the northbound side of I-5 at, say, the Brownsville exit welcoming all orange-wearing Civil War attendees to the watered down Mountain West Conference. Enjoy your trip to Albuquerque. Don’t forget your chainsaw. Go Lobos.

Happy Thanksgiving!!! I'm Grateful...
DC Featherbutt replied to GatOrlando's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
I like Thanksgiving. I hate Thanksgiving I like it because of gathering family and giving thanks for abundant blessings. Yay Thanksgiving. I hate Thanksgiving because of the yearly stoppage of relevant message board activity for 3 days. No news. No opinions. No love. No hate. Just a desert of inactivity with a few holiday greetings sprinkled in. Boo Thanksgiving. We are in the middle of the juiciest time of year: meaningful games, playoff fights, COACHES MOVING, hating the SEC, and peeing in stadium concourses. We need a constant flow mainlined straight to the biggest vein, not Nurse Ratchett monitoring our morphine. This year’s Thanksgiving menu: Sides: cranberry sauce (aka what is going on with Chip) green beans with mushroom soup goo (sure glad we went to Tempe and not Tucson) stuffing (Civil War - really good or really bad) Bird Course: turkey leg (JS to MSU. A lock? Super funny and happening at the perfect time) Main Course: Prime Rib (KDB will announce he is headed to A&M right after their loss to the Ducks) - extra yummy. -
Unforeseen QUADRUPLE Payoff Over Next Two Games!
DC Featherbutt replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
It appears that their running back has stated that he is returning next year. Would he do that unless he knew the staff would remain? Ever notice that JS looks just like GRU from the Minions? -
Nothing compares to the 2008 Jerimiah Johnson beat down of "Rose Bowl bound" OAC in the freshly-named Reser Rodeo Arena. At age 59, and having seen every (and remembering most) Civil War games since the early-ish 70's, that game was soooooooo gooooooood. I was sitting on my couch in suburban Washington, DC that night laughing. Laughing more than I have laughed before or since. Masoli, Jerimiah Johnson, Blount, Boyett. These guys do not get enough run in modern day discussions among Duck fans. In a lot of ways these guys were the OG's of the program we enjoy today. What a final conference game for the OG of the OG's: Coach MB. Chip had a small part in that triumph too. This game surpasses the Wisconsin Rose Bowl, the Colorado Fiesta, and the Florida State RB IMO. Sheer joy.

The Pac-2 is Ruse, a Sham That Makes NO SENSE
DC Featherbutt replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Ding, ding, ding. This is nothing but cowering to the bleeding hearts. We have a program that will, after so many years, twist the knife. How about some guts from the higher ups now? Political pressure? FEBU Public optics? FEBU Caring about others? FEBU We get nothing out of a dropping of Boise and an addition of OAC. We are fighting for fans. As a fan, wouldn't you rather begin to square the ledger with Boise. OAC does not even have a conference. Who, besides their fans, gives a hoot about them. The media has spoken, now we must. I do hope that these bleeding heart Duck fans start to realize the gift we have before us, accept it, and fight like hell to keep it. Step one: relegate OAC to the dust bin. -

Ditto. That school would not make that offer. No way.

Yes, it is a state institution, and yes, the state needs farmers, pharmacists, home economists and doggy doctors. The STATE does not need a non self sufficient and under supported athletic department. Neighbor? Be careful how you use that word. I suppose you have never visited sites like Benny’s House or the old Pure Orange. Those posters are your neighbors. When their house catches fire I’m not going to do so much as unroll my garden hose. As far as OBD’s history, I (like you) know it well. My Grandfather coached football at Oregon from 1950-1977. He would take me to practice after school. Dixie Casanova used to babysit me. I used to give Dan Fouts cups of water on the sidelines. My undergraduate degree is in a forest green and lemon yellow folder. John Robinson was at my wedding………that entire duck life was spent looking at schools and states like Nebraska and wondering what if….. ……Could Oregon become a Nebraska of the 80’s? We may be on our way. Yay. Too bad beav. Now fill my prescription. I have a case of Duck Fever.

This is a great example why we should never shed tear one for that program. I hope they die a very public and painful athletic death. I will be in the corner laughing. I just don't get all the posts of concern for OAC athletics from people on here. What do they add? Do people enjoy paying taxes that go support a dying entity? The state is just big enough for one real college athletic program. Always has been, always will be. I can't wait until the day comes when they dynamite their new set of high school bleachers to expand a sheep pasture.

STRIPE OUT for the Colorado Game at Autzen
DC Featherbutt replied to NJDuck's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
I hate to be a skeptic, but IMHO Oregon will never pull this off in a meaningful way. We can't even get one solid color right. I wish it could happen, but telling the fans of OREGON what they should wear, and getting the info out in an effective manner I believe will be akin to herding cats. I would like to see it. Ain't happening to the degree that it looks good. As a fan base we are different than Penn State, Nebraska, Oklahoma, and even Texas Tech robo fans. Not worse, just different. -
Charles, after this stunning admission by you I must ask: have you been properly vetted for posting here? I’m glad you saw the light.

Time to Add Seating at Autzen?
DC Featherbutt replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
As I look at Googlemaps it seems to my untrained eye that there would be room to mirror the other side. However, as mentioned in the other stadium thread, there seems to be a problem with expansion needing an accompanying amount of parking. Before the last expansion I think Autzen SEATED around 42.5K. Now it sits at 54K. 11.5K gain? Does anyone know for sure the ratio of new parking needed to new seats created? I would think 4 tickets to one parking spot would suffice in my aging mind. As I gaze upon Googlemaps I am having a very hard time finding land to put those spaces. The usual suspects of the Masonic land, BMX track, and that science thing all seem viable, however they have not been touched thus far which makes me think the red tape must be voluminous with them. (Also, the amount of little “wetland” islands that exist in the Autzen area seem like wonderful spots for Knife River to dump clean fill like the old north side waste. Think about all of the exhaust that would not be created if the berm did not need to be trucked all the way to Fern Ridge). Could the parking issue be satisfied with an expanded bus presence? Hell, mandate that only electric busses are used if that will help. Get Elon on the blower and get Centennial Boulevard routed underground. We need to think outside the box. From practical to outrageous, all ideas have value. The only wrong answer is “no, it just can’t be done”. I have retired to Las Vegas for a reason: things get done. If Autzen was here there would be no way the locals would not find a way to make it happen. . It’s called “git ‘er done” -
Would YOU Want Stanford & Cal in the B1G?
DC Featherbutt replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Yes. Without question. 2 of the premier private/public schools in the land that happen to be within driving distance. Check Tons of green and yellow alumni in general area. Check. Familiarity. Check Can only help to lure Notre Dame in a few years. Check NOT the beavs. Check. I do not understand the wanting of OAC in all of this. The events of yesterday went a long way to making the state of Oregon a one team state. I have dreamed of this all of my life. We gain nothing by having OAC exist. I don’t even want them as an OOC matchup. Let them enjoy their trip to Albuquerque and their 18K that show up at beandip arena to see the always tricky Wolfpack of Reno. -
The Decline of the Eugene Register-Guard
DC Featherbutt replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Longtime listener, first time caller. Charles, I hear you. After graduating from Oregon in 1988 I left Eugene and have never moved back. At the start of my career my mother would mail me RG Sunday sports sections during football season. Living in DC at that time this mailing was my only Duck news. At the advent of the internet (or their abouts) the RG website gave me everything I could hope for: Ducks and Siuslaw HS scores and news. Now I’m retired and live in Las Vegas. I have a lot of couch time to read about what is going on in my favorite part of the country. Unfortunately the RG gives me next to zero info about the things I want to read about. I suppose I would feel differently if I wanted to know about a new inclusive trans show playing at the Hult Center or such. All I want is unbiased news about the local economy, Ducks news, and information about local HS sports. That type of information no longer exists in the RG, at least online. It is sad that a really good paper in a small market can vanish like it has. The Oregonian is not that much better IMO.
