  1. Sounds like some intern some where is getting ripped for hitting send...
  2. It looks like the original story about this on Ducks Wire has been removed. Does anyone know anything?
  3. I have thought about this topic some. Husky fans like to say Lanning was out coached. Other than the wins, I can't really think back and go wow, great coaching there by Deboer. I am not saying Deboer isn't a great coach, I think he is. I just don't understand the narrative that the losses suffered by Lanning came as a result of Deboer having a better scheme or in game adjustments. I don't see the difference in either game being due to some form of Deboer superiority in coaching. Maybe my Duck lenses are causing a blind spot, but when I watch these teams play each other I don't conclude that one is better coached than the other. If anything, I see that Deboer has a team with strengths in our weakness, that being primarily, the play of our DB's especially safeties. I think time will tell the difference as each coach is faced with maintaining their winning ways. Who recruits and develops the better roster? Next year will give a really good idea as to which coach will be able to continue their winning ways.
  4. This is really disconcerting. Penalties that keep us from scoring TDs means a farther field goal, which brings up another problem we are having right now. These two issues don't go well together and could cost a game.
  5. Its such a good reminder to enjoy the moment. I find myself not just looking ahead at all the possible CFP scenarios, but even next year as I wonder what the quarterback situation will be, and who replaces the NFL guys. Sometimes its best to just enjoy watching the Ducks play at an incredibly high level. I rooted for both Duck Championship games, although the outcome wasn't what I hoped for, I don't regret rooting for them every step of the way. I'm going to take a step back to simply enjoy watching Bo Nix and the others who wont be here next year and be thankful for what we have right now. Thanks for the reminder.
  6. The early bye-week is not in our favor. Its also odd that our first conference game is UCLA at the end of September.
  7. Fans will be fans, the focus on TT is acceptable. If I had to chose a "Down" game I'd take a week 2 away game after which has been continual improvement vs a week 5 squeaker. I prefer my teams to be on the upswing heading into the difficult part of their schedule vs regression. We will see soon enough what these teams are made of.
  8. I like to receive in the 2nd half especially for big games. You can go on the field with your adjustments in place knowing if you need to move your offense quickly, or slow things down for a long time consuming drive. By the second half you have a real good idea where to attack the defense and should know what's working and what isn't. A first drive score in the second half is more of a game changer than a first drive in the first half. Plus, in an away game, I'd much prefer a quieter crowd in the second half. Coming out of the locker room with a chance to hit them hard right away is a great way to shut the fans down and put pressure on the opposing team. With that said, I'd love an immediate TD to start the game in the drivers seat 7, or 8-0.
  9. The Duck D must stop any TD's from outside the redzone. I think in the redzone is where the Duck D will shine. Washington's offensive line just isn't physical enough to rush the ball effectively and the shorter field keeps Washington receivers from running wild. Add in an effective pass rush, and the Ducks severely limit Washington's ability to score TD's. I'll trade TD's for field goals all day. .
  10. I suspect Washington all but abandons the run game against us. Brailsford is strong in pass protection but grades low in run blocking, which I think is pretty much where the rest of the offensive line it at. Overall what we are seeing is that Washington's biggest weakness is depth. The good news for us is they don't seem to have comparable talent to replace injuries now, and in the future when guys go to the NFL or use up their eligibility.
  11. Our Defense will be the difference against Washington and the rest of the conference. The offenses can score similarly, but the pressure will be on Washington and others to keep up against that defense. They will work harder for their points, hopefully causing fatigue later in the game. Another factor is our depth. I think Oregon is deeper on defense, especially the DL, compared to the offenses the Ducks will be playing against.
