  1. Some of the complete disrespect for Travis Dye and CJ Verdell in the comments kind of surprises me. I get that it’s fashionable right now to disagree with all things Coach Cristobal, but you don’t become #5 and 6 on Oregon’s all-time leading rushers list by just cruising along. Not to mention, Verdell has done so while dealing with injuries each season.
  2. That was actually one of my roles when I was coaching lol.
  3. I think anyone who looks at the film can see there’s more to the story than purely stats at FSU.
  4. I picked Ohio State in a pick ‘‘em. I just think their downfield threats are clicking at this point.
  5. I’d just go with the QBs that Oregon has on the roster. They need the development at some point, might as well start now.
  6. Love the counter. Should see a good amount of it in a Oregon vs USC game now.
  7. It’s a sweet scheme. I’m pretty excited for it. I also used to watch ASU and really enjoy what they were doing, but I’ve always been a fan of those power spread offenses that came down from Coach Malzahn. I would also say that there were some issues that hampered Coach Moorhead’s offense in his time with Oregon. I don’t think it was vanilla, but it was a bit unbalanced at times.
  8. Definitely Memphis 2018. I’m hearing that Coach Dillingham had a big hand in playcalling for Memphis that year.
  9. I think you can rest assured knowing we have the better roster. I’m also pretty biased, so take that for what it’s worth haha. But really, I think we have more than enough roster talent to make the offense hum.
  10. Thanks! I don’t know how much different the offense will look, from a design standpoint, from Norvell’s since that’s the scheme Dillingham has worked with his whole career. But if it’s any reassurance at all, the scheme is a damn good one.
  11. I haven’t doubted the Wildcat since Baylor rode it to 600 yards rushing in a bowl game a few years ago lol. Norvell and Dillingham have used it pretty well too. As far as stats at FSU go, I’m only about halfway through their games from last year, but it looks like an offense that improved as the year went on. I know there were some recruiting issues before they got there, so that could play a role. The FSU fans didn’t want to lose this guy, so they were optimistic about things they saw too. I would maybe look at Memphis 2018 film, as I’m hearing he may have also been calling the plays that season. You can look at Auburn 2019, a lot of people will talk about most points put on Saban, but Coach Malzahn called the plays. Coach Dillingham did work directly with the QBs though.
  12. Hahaha I’m not sure I’m the guy for the job, but thanks!
  13. Thinking more on it, I don’t entirely agree with Prehm. I believe Coach Kelly can definitely still coach, and he still evolves on offense. It just seems like if you don’t want to recruit, that’s not going to get you to where you want to be in today’s football. I just wouldn’t want it to feel like going backwards.
  14. I’m glad you said Josh Heupel. I’m really surprised that a fan base that craves uptempo offense as much as this one hasn’t mentioned his name more.
  15. I’m with you and Matt Prehm. "Are you hiring Chip Kelly because of what he did at Oregon from 2007-2012? Or are you hiring Chip Kelly the UCLA head coach and what he's done there? College football has drastically changed since his Oregon days. So has his success."
  16. I’m with you. There’s nothing real exciting about that list.
  17. I really want to thank Coach Cristobal for everything he did for the Oregon program. I know that’s a tough decision when the other choice is home and the fact that his mom is having health concerns. It’s tough, and I wish him and his family the best. As far as who I would like to see contacted, it’s Lane Kiffin or Josh Heupel. Kiffin is a name that I think can really keep a recruiting class together and Heupel has such a strong record of explosive offenses.

  19. Well, three of those guys are actually pistol guys! It is by some, but I think that’s because they didn’t like what they saw of it in the previous offense. There are coaches that run it extremely well though, such as Greg Roman. I was even watching tape from last season and Coach Moorhead did really cool things with it. I just think a lot of his offense was already built around the shotgun and that’s what he likes to do. I don’t think it’s wrong one way or the other.
  20. I’m with you. I’m almost certain that Coach Cristobal doesn’t intervene in the offense like some people seem to think. I just don’t think that the offenses between Coach Moorhead and Coach Arroyo being as different as they are points to Coach Cristobal telling his OC what to do. And I know there’s a belief that Coach Moorhead isn’t running non stop tempo because Coach Cristobal doesn’t want him to. But if you look at Coach Moorhead’s past offenses, he’s never been a tempo guy like that. Of course, Coach Cristobal wants certain things from his offense. Like being predicated on the run. He doesn’t need to force his OC to do that because he hired an OC with the same philosophy. He wouldn’t hire a Mike Leach type coach to run the offense.
  21. You’re right, he’s merely the top target. This was a communication error on my end, and have since edited the article.
  22. We also saw it in the form of 77-6 last season.

  24. Hey everyone, great conversation happening here! I wanted to clear something up, I wrote this with the idea that we would run it if the deal came to fruition, and that’s my fault on getting things mixed up. It’s true that Coach Moorhead has not agreed to be the Akron coach and I really hope that he doesn’t. Wanted to clear that up, and thank you guys for reading. I will be changing some of the wording of the article to make it more in line with what’s actually going on. Thanks again!
