I think that Farrell, who is very controversial in the opinion of recruitniks that live recruiting, is vastly undervaluing  Arch's  understanding of the game and ability to read defenses at the  line of scrimmage. These things are not really necessary for 7 on 7 drills at the camps. Arch is good  but not great at the physical  aspects of the game.

I've heard that Georgia's OC Todd Monken values a QB's understanding of the game as much or more as the person's raw physical attributes and  athleticism.  That is why he was all in on Arch. There were probably at least five QBs in the 23 class with better physical attributes than Arch. Heck, you guys now have a commitment from one of them.

Yes I believe we got the better of all of them. Now we have to keep him. You know all the other programs are still trying to take him away.

The Pac was already becoming irrelevant in football.   USC and UCLA going to the BIG is a dagger.  Utah will always win the South.  Oregon will always win the North.  Due to superior coaching in Utah and superior athletes in Oregon. I do not see any way that the new Pac 10 without USC is better off.     I'm wondering if the new ceiling for us Duck fans is winning a pac-10 title now?

I want more and I think every other true fan wants more. We still have a chance at CFPO every year as long as we play a strong ooc. Oh and as long as we win of course.

Which my gut tells me this team is on a mission to get the stench out of their mouths from last year. They have the talent. They have the experience. They are having fun again and will be playing loose because of it.

Can't wait to see the Ducks Fly High and bring us back to playing like we did in the 2009 thru 2014 yrs.

    Go Ducks Fly High.

  3. I believe most of the league hates us because of our success. It's mutual with UW and uncivilized spoiled children. I didn't pull for any other teams other than the Ducks because if we had a better record I felt it helped us. I know better since we played in the National Championship game. I now or did root for every PAC team but now USC is dead as far as I'm concerned.

Look at the bright side…while you were worried, yet we are now ahead of Washington in the recruiting class rankings.

And it did not take long….

If you are referring to me the thread I commented on stated that UW was not doing well in recruiting. I pointed out their success in the week after the dead period of signing recruits.

I don't believe that I was necessarily afraid of them beating us but was concerned about the idea of waiting for big fish and have them choose other schools. Would that end up costing us in the long run. That's what I remember anyway.

  5. At the time I heard that a uncivilized spoiled children site was setting up a NIL deal before Mr Addison mentioning he was going in the portal. Key word here is before.

That is a clear violation of NCAA rules for NIL. You can't intice a player to go to a particular school with NIL money. By what he is saying in the article it sure sounds like this is what happened.

  6. I read the post and enjoyed hearing about how summer is going. I don't recall how our other head coaches ran the summer but it sure sounds impressive. His quote of DL letting his coaches do their jobs, setting common goals, and expecting the players to be the leaders with DL in the background making sure that everything is working the way he wants it. Doesn't sound like micro managing which should produce results.

Ok but lets say every time the Ducks are on network TV they draw 2 mill viewers does it matter that they come from Oregon?

Again how could you qualify it years in advance. Didn't we have a big dip in 2016/17/18. From what I have been reading the high numbers don't seem to matter as much. I've never been involved in any kind of advertising so I've have to just pass on what I've been hearing.

  8. Does anyone know the exact number of 5* DL are in the 23 class and how many have left the SEC footprint as most of them seem to stay in the south.

I would take Greene in a heartbeat. He's coming from Texas but believe he's close to the top of our DL board, maybe #2 behind Hicks. If so he's a real get.

On a side note I saw a site where they listed assistant coaches ranked by recruiting in the PAC and #1 is "meat" #2 is D Will out of uncivilized spoiled children # 3 is our very own J Adams and #10 is M Powridge. Way to Go Ducks Fly High.

  9. I believe The thinking of the networks is not viewers of a particular game, it's the potential viewers. That's how they sell advertising. Advertising costs are dependent on the potential viewers, thus the bigger markets trump all.

Every business has to be growing to stay alive. How do the networks do that. By what we have seen happen. It's called consolidation and/or specialization.

The Midwest has far more population than OR, WA, ID, UT, and AR. Thus they get the LA market to consolidate to the B1G.

Also as we have noted in many posts about recruiting footprint the B1G just opened up one of the largest for their schools. I don't like it any more than the rest of u, but facts are facts.

It's been pointed out that our previous commissioner has some responsibility as well as the PAC presidents, but that's the past and nothing can be done about it. We can just start today and position ourselves as best we can.

The assets of our national brand and Nike with Phil Knight are helping us to get somewhere that's better than most of the other schools with similar population disadvantages. We will just have to let it play out and hope for the best.

  10. I think I saw somewhere that ND has over 150 million potential fans that might watch the game. They are the very top, that's why they have their very own TV deal with NBC. No sharing of revenue.

The problem for them  not being in a league is finding and scheduling games.

I'm sorry but This is the reality, not what we think and feel.

  11. I don't know history tells us that a good group of 5 team transferring into a P 5 conference takes a while to get to be 1 of the top tier of the league.

And as far as TV money the reality is it takes a population base with a blue blood school like the uncivilized spoiled children, to get more money. Let's say one in 1/4 of TVs in OR are watching a Duck game that's one million eyeballs. Now lets take LA La Land alone 1/4 of sets equals 3 million. TV advertising is what matters.

Thanks for the response! Not to press, but what would you say is a timeline? And how would you define a Blue blood? Do you have to score multiple championships to attain the status and then play for one every 10/20/30 years to keep it?  Just looking for something a little more definitive (and I do understand I'm asking for personal opinions, nothing more).

    Thanks~!

A blueblood is a school that has down very well over a sustained time of winning championships.

It can be a decade or so or even longer. But you can also lose the status like Nebraska.

I guess another factor can be amount of fan base like ND and UCLALA and the unspoiled children.
