  1. If an OC gets paired with a rock star QB, that OC all of a sudden is assigned rock star status himself.

What would Joe Brady be without Joe Burrow?

    Helfrich & Frost without Mariota?

Does Marcus Arroyo get the UNLV gig if there were no Justin Herbert?

What a shock to learn some of these (OC’s) have turned out to be mere mortals.

Ironic also how Duck fans tarred and feathered Andy Ludwig (aka Dudwig) who to this point is arguably the hottest OC in the league and has gotten the last laugh vs the UO.

Point being, similar to head coach prospects, time and experience separate the wheat from the chaff.

Personally as a fan I don't mind as long as he's hitting the phones with current Duck recruits and working to assemble his coaching assistants.  It's not like he'd be coaching Oregon in the exhibition... err Alamo Bowl anyways.

Assembling assistants most likely however recruiting is prohibited through Jan 13th.  Dead period starts this Monday.

  3. As the T’s are being crossed and I’s dotted for onboarding coach Lanning, perhaps one issue had been overlooked to this point.  That being the State of of OR and UO’s vaxx mandate.   Georgia, including University of, has no such mandate and per Kirby Smart, 90% of players and staff are vaccinated.

  4. We don’t lose to ASU If leading scorer Eric Williams plays.  That aside, as Will Richardson goes, so go the Ducks.  Unfortunately he’s in a bad slump as his 2-14 3-pt stat (ouch) vs ASU would attest.  This team lacks leadership. There is no Dillon Brooks, Pritchard, Duarte that can light a fire under the team.  I like what I see in Young and Bittle.  Kepnang is growing by leaps and bounds and has star potential.  His 17 pts vs ASU was the lone bright spot.  I never count out a Dana Altman team and do expect the Ducks to eventually hit their stride by mid season.  They’ll have a shot at post season only if Richardson returns to form.

  5. Ducks don’t need no boat to float.  That said, PJ is doing a great job at UM and given where he is in the build process I don’t see him leaving for at least a few more years.  Same for Blake Anderson at Utah State.

  6. Anyone else get a glance at what Utah State did to SDSU last Saturday Mountain West championship?  The few minutes I watched prompted a little research into an intriguing HC prospect.  Coach Blake Anderson (no relation to former Beav and USU coach Gary Anderson) checks a number of boxes as to what the UO may be looking for.

Having just pulled off arguably the nations best turnaround story of 2021, Anderson brings experience, a high octane offense, high character and a geographic (southeast) recruiting advantage having coached six successful years at Arkansas State.  He along with Mel Tucker, Luke Fickell and two others are finalists for the AFCA coach of the year.  Anderson and his Aggies will be display in their upcoming bowl appearance vs OSU.

Dana can read various, complex situations on the floor and determine a way to win (again and again). Look, he sees things on the floor that only a limited number of fans see; he is like a Chess Grand Master (there are far and few between).

Good insight.  Same can be said of another grandmaster by the name of Chip Kelly.

  8. The guard experience was definitely NOT on display yesterday.  Starters Chavez & Shelly were a combined 0-5 shooting, zero total points, 28 minutes between the two.  UCLA exposed our lack of speed and quickness at the guard position as evidenced by their full court double teaming.  OSU's guards were brilliant with their back door cuts.  Ducks back off in response thus opening up uncontested threes for the Beavs.  How we miss the speed (and fire) of Minyon, Maite and Sabrina.

By the way anyone know what's up with Kylee Watson?  6-4, top 20 national yet for the most part is MIA this season.

  9. Thanks for posting this.  With such incredible times I'd be curious to know how these runners are pacing themselves to guard against peaking too early for the outdoor season.  Curious also if an indoor track gives some assist with a little more bounce vs outdoors.  Teare by the way looked like he could have broke 3:50 had he not let up a split second before crossing the finish line.

  10. Can't believe Altman's bad luck.  What could've been had Boucher and Bol not been taken out with injuries.  This year, Richardson out for six weeks, Dante gone for the season, not looking good for Duarte and we're harder hit than most by covid.  And still they are just as intense, play hard, fight to the end.  Can we have just one season where all the chips fall in place and the Ducks soar again to another final four?  Dana deserves it.

  11. What a fun player to watch.   Like Sabrina, Prince plays with a fire in the belly that sets her apart from the rest of her teammates.  Unlike Sabrina, at 6ft 7 Sendona has the chance to dominate offense and defense inside of 15 ft.  I admit I'm holding my breath that her leg will hold up through her UO career given the severity of the break (both tibia & fibia) and post-op complications.  Appreciate not just the skill set, but also her demeanor and the way she encourages her teammates.
