  1. Will Stein, Dillon Gabriel, and the Wide Receivers will look better when the offensive line gives good pass protection.
  2. When we talk about the offense...Gabriel was NOT looking downfield, or did not see open receivers deeper downfield today. We did not stretch the defense, and Dillon did well considering the Vandals tightened up the pass defense within 10 yards of the LOS, IMHO. Bad News: The offense was a big surprise to the negative. Good News: There is a TON of upside to this offense, as the players are there. Right now...it is surprising to me that Pickard/Poncho at center-right guard was superior to Poncho/Strothers instead? Strothers must be must worse than I realized. It would also explain why we went after Bedford as a transfer at right guard. I thought Strothers had it nailed, but Oregon recruited Bedford and I was surprised. Not now.
  3. Poncho was playing right guard, which is where he played most of last season. Pickard at center...is not good. But frankly--our AA tackles did not do well today either. Bad run blocking, and they got beat for sacks and a fumble.
  4. OK...the game is over, and let's continue discussion in the main page of the forum.
  5. Oregon is taking this transition into the Big-10 seriously and blending right in. Great defense, and poor offense....Iowa gives the Ducks a nod...
  6. OK, Tysheem Johnson, is now starting in the second half. So perhaps there was an internal bit of disciplined being done that benched him for the first half? When can I say “I told you so”about Brandon Johnson?
  7. I am really impressed with how accurate Gabriel is, and he does have a quick release. When he decides to throw--it's gone. I am surprised at the offensive line, but it is early. Disappointed with injuries on defense; Bassa is out, but nice to have Boettcher and Jackson to step in. Tysheem Johnson must be hurt for a RS freshman Tyler to be playing...
  8. I am watching on YouTube TV, and the broadcast is very clear and crisp.
  9. Here we are my Duck-Buddies, the thread for pondering the actual game as it happens. Let's discuss before, and during the game! The vast majority of you are GREAT in this thread, but you must remember that this forum is different, as we require civilized discourse. Discussion of negative is fine, but don't vent on us! Rule No. 31d covers GameDay Thread Conduct, and it is not hard for the vast majority of us--just a tiny few who need to reign it in when things don't go well for Our Beloved Ducks. Let's Have Fun Posting During the Game!
  10. OK...now THIS makes the result as "good-or-good." Florida wins and Mario loses-good. Miami wins and Florida loses...and perhaps changes coaches? Good!
  11. A man after my own heart! My thoughts about the Hurricanes?

  13. They did not mention YouTube TV or Fubo or Hulu, but here are the rest... How to Watch Oregon football’s season opener against Idaho DUCKSWIRE.USATODAY.COM A guide on how to watch the Oregon Ducks first game of the 2024 college football season on Saturday against the Idaho Vandals.
  14. These keys are interesting, in particular No. 2 and No. 4... Five keys to the game: No. 3 Oregon vs. Idaho 247SPORTS.COM Here are five keys to ensure No. 3 Oregon exits Autzen Stadium with a 1-0 record on Saturday.

  16. This is an interesting conference... Abilene Christian California Baptist Grand Canyon Seattle Univ. Tarleton State UT Arlington Utah Valley Utah Tech Pig-2? The WAC (above) is calling for you! Wee-wee-wee....all the way home!
  17. I agree, they will slide down to MWC level, but may still be on the outside? Can you say WAC?
  18. Below is from a John Canzano article today, and I could not help but laugh... --------------------------------------------------------------------- • There’s an interesting Sunday deadline looming for the Pac-12 and Mountain West. The two conferences have a mutual option to continue their scheduling partnership in 2025 or go in separate directions. • I wonder if the Pac-12 will kick the can a few more weeks down the road and try to get some higher-profile games (Read: ACC and Big 12) for 2025. • Oregon State AD Scott Barnes told me at the start of the week: “We continue to explore all options including the MWC.” That echoed WSU President Kirk Schulz, who offered: “We continue to work to get this done.” • I talked with a few Mountain West athletic directors this week. They’ve offered input to their university presidents and Commissioner Gloria Nevarez. The ADs are waiting to hear what happens. Oregon State and Washington State are paying the MWC $14 million to play the crossover football games this season. One AD told me he was concerned that continuing to play Oregon State and Washington State in 2025 might negatively impact an MWC program’s record and could torpedo bowl eligibility. Said the AD: “It’s more money, but those are games that schools in our conference would expect to lose more often than not.” ------------------------------------------------------------------- So, for the Power-4 conferences....the Pig-2 are not good enough, but for the Mountain West--they are too good? Seems like these two piggies can't find the porridge that is just right. You gotta feel sorry for them... (Right?)
  19. Ha! Staying with your winning score from last year! Fun stuff...
  20. Hello My OBD FishDuck Forum Friends! What is your prediction versus Idaho? Take your shot and let's have fun with it... Lets get these predictions started, and remember I look for the differential between your predicted points with both teams from the actual points. I will use the tiebreaker information when needed, so provide all the data below! Entries without ALL the information are invalid, and predictions on other threads don't count. Please follow directions, as I need all that is below for tiebreakers: --the winner --the score --the amount of turnovers Oregon creates --the number of sacks Oregon records on the opposing team --the number of passing yards by the Ducks. My prediction is: Oregon, 52-10, 3, 4, 342 Terrence Whitehead Against the Vandals...
  21. Good Gosh…a blockbuster match so early? Whew!
  22. No, I do not want to be lowly ranked, and have to watch teams above us-hoping for their loss. it is much easier to start at No. 3, keep winning, and retain a very high seed. Beat Ohio State and be a No. 2 seed, and if the Bulldogs slip…hold my heart!
  23. Getting a quick sizable lead with that offensive firepower will allow reps to reserves and build that depth. So much great talent that has been recruited on defense are underclassmen, and this is a crucial year for them to get playing time and be ready for 2025. The grind of the new conference schedule will place a premium on playing those reserves. And certainly on defense, the talent appears to be there!
