  1. There are other articles out there, but Canzano provided below the home schedule... (And they should NOT call it the Pac-12) Oregon State Home Games • 8/31 - Idaho State - 3:30 p.m. PT on The CW • 9/14 - Oregon – Time TBD on FOX or FS1 • 9/21 - Purdue - 5:30 p.m. PT on The CW • 10/5 - Colorado State - 3:30 p.m. PT on The CW • 10/19 - UNLV - 12:30 p.m. PT or 7:00 p.m. PT on The CW * • 11/9 - San Jose State - 12:30 p.m. PT or 7:30 p.m. PT on The CW * • 11/23 - Washington State - 3:30 p.m. PT on The CW Bolded above are league games... I expect the deal to fall in the range of $5 million to $9 million per school.
  2. Do read the top post again as I added more thoughts about Duckster's passing...
  3. I will admit that...I do have to let this go. It is just that I grew up in Corvallis, and truly cheered for both teams through my adult life. I've actually had OSU season tickets along with Oregon back in the 90s...and I was there when both Oregon and Oregon State were equally bad in the 1970s. What happened after that was innovation by Oregon and incompetency by Oregon State. It's OK to admit that and move on, but to make us all pay for your mistakes? Whew! The Oregon Athletic Department and I have something in common; between my divorce and the Ducks moving to the B1G--we are both paying a big exit fee, but it leads to a better life. I gotta view it that way.
  4. Why would either party publicize this? The pressure on the player to perform will be enormous, the team will be required to show results for such money....when you consider all the elements--it's all downside. Oh well, UW will know how to take care of the problem.
  5. Canzano continues to play both sides, and Beaver fans eat it up as they are given comfort by John Canzano for their indignation and claims. From Parts of His Article Today.... For years the rival schools were governed by the same board of trustees. In 2011, Senate Bill 242 was passed by a 29-1 vote. It decentralized the state’s higher education system. Each public school in Oregon got its own board vs. a single board that oversaw all the state-funded schools. Legislators believed that doing so would help the larger public universities save time and money. Nobody thought the move would open the door for Oregon’s trustees to vote on a matter (i.e. leaving for the Big Ten) that would harm OSU in such a consequential way. “The discussion didn’t include athletics,” one lawmaker who worked on that bill told me. ---------------------------------------------- Officials at OSU and Oregon tell me they’d like to continue to play the rivalry series. The Ducks bought their way out of two games and traded a game (See: Hawaii, Texas Tech, Boise State) to make that happen in the next two seasons. It makes sense for both schools to keep playing the Civil War. Oregon avoids having to get on a plane next season for a non-conference road game. The Ducks get to host the game in 2025, avoiding having to travel by plane for a non-conference game. Meanwhile, OSU gets a premium home game for the season-ticket package every other season. ------------------------------------------- I found it interesting that the Oregon Legislature appropriated an extra $10 million to OSU at the very end of the last legislative session in March. The funds are earmarked for “athletic scholarships” and this was the first time the state did such a thing. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Remember how Canzano asked the new UO President in his recent interview..."how are you going to help Oregon State?" You have to give Oregon State credit...they have turned their Athletic Department incompetency into a massive scam, while weak Oregon administrators are made to feel sorry and give concessions to the Pig-2. It is a shame the Pig-2 could not be as skilled at building their brand and audience, as they are at scamming fellow universities and acting as a victim.
  6. The Pig-2 also have to "show-well" this year, and... I don't think they will.
  7. Ahh...attorneys in the room? Wouldn't this generate a lawsuit on behalf the other former Pac-12 members that could actually win?
  8. I think this is a fantastic idea that could really pay off over the long term for Oregon...especially with joining the B1G and program's current trajectory. Thanks for the excellent idea, and guest article Duckster!
  9. There is a ton of discussion going on over the weekend and this morning about what ESPN's Bill Connerly said about Big-12 expansion, and how OSU/WSU could be part of it. I have two questions.. 1) As my Duck-Buddy Jon Joseph would ask...."Is adding them accretive?" "Can they generate additional revenue for the conference, or least their share?" No. 2) If they leave the Pac-12...as did the other 10 former Pac-12 teams...are they now going to split the assets of the conference 12 ways? Don't hold your breath... Perhaps it is not over...
  10. There is a ton to be amazed with....what do you call those shots from the outside?
  11. Fun short article... Sean Payton: Bo Nix has been "exactly what we saw" in scouting him WWW.NBCSPORTS.COM The Broncos have gotten their first exposure this weekend to quarterback Bo Nix as a member of the team.
  12. So close to a 'Natty, and it sure feels we were robbed.... This, below, is extremely well done. (Maybe a misspelling or two!)

  14. Ducks Down Huskies, Win Series in Seattle SEATTLE — The No. 23 Oregon baseball team used 10 hits to score five runs in a 5-3 victory over rival Washington on Sunday afternoon to claim its seventh Pac-12 series this season. The Ducks (34-16, 16-11 Pac-12) opened the scoring with a pair of runs in the top of the second, but the Huskies (19-25-1, 10-17 Pac-12) scored three of their own in the bottom half of the inning to take the lead. After Bennett Thompson knocked in a run to even things up in the third, starter Kevin Seitter (6-4) locked in to strike out seven batters across his final 4.1 innings to shut Washington down. In the top of the fifth, Justin Cassella knocked a RBI single through the right side to give the Ducks the lead, and in the seventh Jacob Walsh hit a sacrifice fly to add some insurance. Bradley Mullan and Logan Mercado combined to allow just one hit in 2.2 innings of relief, holding the Huskies scoreless and securing the series victory. How It Happened: After each pitcher retired the first three batters they faced, Thompson got things going with a double to left field to represent the first base runner of the day for Oregon. After Maddox Molony earned a walk, Chase Meggers singled to right field and loaded bases for the Ducks. Bryce Boettcher stepped up to the plate and hit a sacrifice fly to score the first run of the day, and Carter Garate followed up with a double to score Molony and put UO in front by two. Seitter forced ground outs from the first two Husky hitters in the bottom half of the inning but surrendered back-to-back singles which set up runners on first and third. Washington stepped up to the plate and hit a two-run double to tie the game, followed by another double that gave the home side the lead. Mason Neville knocked a single through the right side of the field to begin the third inning and stole second base to move into scoring position with no outs on the board. Walsh worked a walk to set up runners on first and second for Thompson, who hit a single up the gap and scored Neville to tie the game. With the score back to even, Seitter found a second gear and retired the next nine batters thanks to double plays in the third and fifth innings. In the top of the fifth inning, Neville stole second once again after reaching on a walk before scoring on a single down the right side from Cassella to reclaim the lead. Seitter was sensational in the sixth inning, striking out three Huskies and stranding a runner on base. Neville was once again the offensive catalyst in the seventh inning for Oregon as he hit a single that advanced Ryan Cooney to third, setting up a sacrifice fly from Walsh which added some cushion to the lead entering the late stages of the game. After Washington put a runner on base with a one-out double in the bottom of the seventh, Mullan took the mound and struck out back-to-back hitters to work his way out of the jam. The senior lefty kept the board clean in the eighth, and in the ninth inning the Ducks turned to Mercado to close out the game. After striking out the first batter he faced, Mercado gave up a single to the Huskies who moved the runner into scoring position following a ground ball from the next batter. With two outs and the tying run at the plate, Mercado showed poise and struck out the final batter to put a stamp on the victory. Notables: Garate recorded his 20th RBI this season and became the 11th Duck to reach that mark … Oregon is one of three teams (Dayton, Oakland) to have 11 players record 20-or-more RBI this season. Up Next: The Ducks return home to close out the regular season with a three-game series against Washington State, beginning with a 6:05 p.m. PT first pitch on Thursday, May 16.
  15. If the Big-2 conferences thin the herd as suggested above, then a great team could be 7-5 with what is left, and that won't fly. No, we need the bottom half of the conferences for cannon fodder....well that, and an occasional B-12 team! If we are making incredible money...why would we mess it up?
  16. Ducks win 5-3 with Logan Mercado finishing up the ninth inning. Whew! From an earlier inning...
  17. 5-3 Good guys after eight innings. C'mon Our Beloved Ducks...get it done! From a prior inning...great to see Justin Cassella hitting the ball again!
  18. After one out in the seventh, Bradley Mullan came in to strike the remaining two Husky batters, and the Ducks added to their lead to 5-3 after seven innings!
  19. After six innings, the good guys lead 4-3... Starter Kevin Seitter got in trouble in the second inning, but pulled it together and has gone six full innings. Oregon has a ton of arms who can come in, and first ace is Ryan Featherston, who only pitched one inning this weekend thus far.
