  1. I would love it, but don't see it happening because it is not a "get-ready-for-the-NFL" type offense. In particular, with all the motions and the difficulty with keeping track of who has the ball--defenses have to put more in the box, thus the receivers are one-on-one of which can create big plays. Franklin, Thornton and McGee could clean up with the GoGo, but as much as I would like to see it--I doubt we see much if any of it. It was great fun to interview Coach Marion for those articles, but again--it is a longshot at Oregon. But it could kick-butt...
  2. I am quite convinced that between the buzz created by this coaching staff, and what recruits see on the field this fall--that we will get our 25 signees. And I think it will be top-ten class...
  3. A Red Raider! Great points, and welcome to this forum. Do post your thoughts often, although this was a great start. You make a good case...
  4. Sewell Named Walter Camp Preseason All-American - University of Oregon Athletics GODUCKS.COM Oregon linebacker Noah Sewell has been named a 2022 preseason first-team all-American by the Walter Camp Football Foundation.
  5. This is typical for recruiting, and Oregon generally does not have tons of commitments by now, although we have great momentum at the moment. Eight commits before July is pretty good for us.... Recruits go home to discuss, and they also need time to have their video made for Social Media, and want to announce nowadays with family as a community event. Now there may have been silent commits over the weekend, (and I'll bet there was) where they tell the coaches that they are verballing, and will do so now in the dead period for recruiting. Right now does not give a true picture; the December signing date will. Patience. As for your other questions on other threads....Google is your friend!
  6. Okay, that is a very reasoned response, and while I don't like it--I'd take it. In particular, it would drive Husky fans crazy!
  7. OK...that surprised me. Think of it...the Pac-12 is the first conference to have 500 National Championships, the first conference to have 200 womens championships and the first to have a school at 100 championships in UCLA. But now Stanford and USC does as well, and it is pretty impressive. Four Pac-12 teams in the top ten... List of NCAA schools with the most NCAA Division I championships - Wikipedia EN.WIKIPEDIA.ORG
  8. We are the leader at the moment, and it is a long time until next February...but getting a verbal is 90% of the challenge.
  9. I don't think that will happen under the new coach. As DazeNconfused wrote in another thread...DeBoer has quite a confusing offense with all the sets, and will give opponents issues. But can he recruit well enough to return the Huskies to the top of conference again? THAT is the question...because if he cannot--they slide into becoming another "Cal."
  10. He is very comfortable with who he is, and that is part of the “genuine” vibe people feel from him. Refreshing!
  11. No. It is just that he is a big recruit, and when 5-Stars have epic fun at Oregon...it is a good vibe. We are on a great track with Lanning!
  12. Completely agree. Who knew our pinnacle under him would be the Rose Bowl win, when it felt like the beginning at that time? "Mario Cristobal held the Oregon offense down better than any defense since Auburn of 2010!"
  13. I am not a betting man, but you sure tempt me. No way (IMHO) that happens; he has been given positive reinforcement to the tune of 8 million a year to do it just as he did at Oregon. "I'm smarter than everyone else and 8 million a year proves it."
  14. It's always good to know what will be available in the portal in a few years!
  15. A good one... Dante Dowdell, 2023 Running Back - Rivals.com N.RIVALS.COM The definitive source for all Rivals news. Oregon lands four-star commitment from Mississippi RB Dante Dowdell N.RIVALS.COM Dowdell becomes the fourth commit in the 2023 class for Oregon.
  16. I pulled this pinned post down and wanted it to drift away! But I love the photo...
  17. I suppose every fan base blames NIL for when they lose a recruit, and obviously--they don't know that Oregon is not paying top-NIL dollar. But they have their argument groomed from years of, "if it were not for Phil Knight," without looking at the great hires at Oregon, and the horrendous hires at Washington. I am not being noble, (and I never claimed to be) but I can't get enough of this! Crazy Quotes: Assistant Coaches "What is their OC going to be like? Adrian Klemm? Demetrice Martin? You're recycling coaches who are great recruiters, but there's a reason they haven't lasted long at the places they have been." "Someone has their Green and gold Goggles on. Oregon has some very shaky assistant coaches." "Lanning has raised questions with his ability to build a staff and we already dealt with that learning curve with Lake. Every coach at Oregon gets praised as a recruiter using Phil’s money for pay for play and facilities plus Nike influence, but this is a questionable Oregon staff in terms of proven coaches." "Old saying about assistant coaches, “if you don’t know much, you can’t teach much “. Not sure the UO assistants know much." Oregon Wins on Money Alone "It’s a mercenary environment more than it is a team." "Makes me wonder if their mercenary style of recruiting will back fire after a mediocre season. How many of those players will jump ship at the first sign of trouble for greener $$$ pastures?" "The perception here is that Duck fans have no problem with the program being one of the few in the country endowed with enough money to basically buy a top tier football team (thanks to Uncle Phil) - they don't care as long as the team wins. Does that perception feel accurate to you, or is there any debate within Duck Nation about the ethics involved when you can afford far more NIL $$$ than most of your competitors?" "I for one thinks it’s gonna be pretty cool from here on out when we beat Oregon or USC. All of our local bigtime talent coming back to Husky stadium wearing the green and yellow only to be taken down by the home team that was looked past by the mighty Duck machine. We will hang our hats on our superior education and quality of young men. Hold up our nose at the immoral practices of the pay to play schools. Trading championships for ethics." About Oregon's Team "Their D-line could be in trouble." "This program can win eight games a year on talent alone, but can they beat USC or Utah or even Stanford?" Response to Oregon Fan: "Your LBs will be your only strength on “D”. Because your DL will not get pressure (w/o T) your secondary will be exposed . Sorry, Ducks will be lucky to get 7 wins. Think about the last time OR tried to promote an assistant coach (MH) to HC- didn’t the Dawgs hang 70 on him before you fired him?" "Impacted? They will win 8-9 games a season on talent alone and if get coached up watch out. Hate to admit that but it's true I believe."
  18. Or will it break my heart? One down, but the other two? Whew!
  19. Coach Jack Marder will bring that batting average up further!
  20. Georgia fans...the classy, reasonable and knowledgeable ones like you are always welcome...even if the Ducks lose. I welcome Utah fans--even though their team kicked our butt twice this last season. Why? Because like you and the other Bulldog fans--their intentions are good, and their behaviors here are honorable. I look forward to tons more banter with opposing team fans... Except Huskies of course...
  21. I believe he will stay there, as retirement is a more likely outcome in the forthcoming years. Perhaps some of the local Utah fans that check in here can give their thoughts?
