Walsh named Freshman All-America by Baseball America
Knock me over with a Duck-Feather....this is the guy who was taken out of the lineup late in the season because he could not hit a low curve ball? EUGENE –Oregon first baseman Jacob Walsh has been named to the Collegiate Baseball 2022 Freshmen All-America Team, the magazine announced today. Walsh (Las Vegas, Nev./Desert Oasis HS) claimed the honor after leading the Ducks in doubles with 18, while batting .295 with six home runs, 38 RBI, 35 runs scored and five stolen bases. He reached base at a .414 clip and slugged .436. Walsh is the 10th Oregon player in the modern era of Oregon baseball to earn Collegiate Baseball Freshman All-America recognition. Named to the team as a first baseman, Walsh started 55 of Oregon’s 61 games with 52 of the starts coming at first. He was the only Oregon freshman in the opening day lineup, and started the first 43 games of the season. Bo Nix’s Picks: Can You Live With Them?
This is a GREAT observation that I did not know. To pass well, you must have a running game to balance things out and keep the defense guessing. If Oregon has a decent running game against Georgia....then we have a chance? That next step is not as easy as it looks....

Bo Nix’s Picks: Can You Live With Them?
The key thing in my view concerning the percentage of completions and throwing down field is, “can he complete the long throws? Is he accurate on them?” He certainly showed me in the spring game that he can be very accurate, and throw a very catchable pass, and we also had longer crossing patterns which allows more separation for the receiver, hence more screwup room built-in for the quarterback. We might be OK, but I just wondered what everyone’s tolerance level was?

Canzano: Phil Knight's Bid to Buy Trail Blazers Blooms in the Desert

Former Duck Sabrina Ionescu Tearing Up the WNBA!
No triple-doubles at Oregon since she left; she made it look so routine, yet is almost impossible to achieve. Amazing!

Bo Nix’s Picks: Can You Live With Them?
You are a generous soul, where I am pragmatic acknowledging that by this time, “he-is-what-he-is,” Can we live with it? Another Anthony Brown-type of under-performance would certainly be frustrating for the fan base.

Did Oregon Gain From SEC via the Portal?
For all the negative written about the portal, and all the concerns about it in this forum--Oregon killed it in the portal this year between what was lost and what was gained. Oregon will get theirs... Here they come through the portal!

Did You Hear the Latest? Mr. FishDuck is STALIN!
That is precisely what happened this last weekend, as I had two new people sign up and violate our rules immediately--and then insult me many times in the ensuing emails! I explained that I do not need new members, but I do welcome the nice people to join us--always. And as you suggested--I told them that all the other sites out there are a better match for them. But those two were banned immediately. The good news is that none of you had to see the distasteful stuff, and the good news for me is that it is people like that duo--will continue to break the rules of being "polite and respectful," thus by removing them now--I save a ton of time in the future. And we have retained a community of nice people--so thank you for your support. But we do need to thank the moderators for catching the bad-actors quickly and hiding their nastiness from public view. It is their time given that makes this a very unique site. My sincere thanks to them!

Where Oregon is With Jaden Rashada
Well, that is not my memory, as it was close into the fourth quarter and Urban Meyer added a cheap TD with less than a minute less in the game to lose 42-20 at the end of the 2014 season. (2015 was the Alamo Bowl)

ICamel's Diamond Ducks 2022 Analysis
I guess what I was thinking was....what are the pitching stats of an Omaha team? How much progression will it take? And....do you think the raw material in our current pitchers is there to improve enough, or do we need Oregon State-type pitchers? Love your thoughts--thanks.

Ducks Winners in the Transfer Portal
Actually...I don't think so. He would have fit in with a Jerry Azzinaro defense that utilized tall, less bulky players like Brandon Bair, but 6'6" and below 300 does not matchup with Lanning, IMHO. Lanning wants a run-stuffer, like our 330 lb. transfer from Washington, Sam Taimani, or an agile pass-rusher and it seems to me that Jones is a tweener for those categories. Or I could be completely wrong! My thoughts anyway...

ICamel's Diamond Ducks 2022 Analysis
So many thoughts....the first is the outstanding time and work you put into this. This really tells the story, better than anything else out there and I am grateful ICamel. I knew the pitching hurt, but this tells us that it is not just the starters; the relievers let us down at crucial times as well. Rather than look at raw numbers, I do look at the percentage that we descended in pitching in the different categories, and those percentages of decline are pretty bad. The other element is what we are comparing it to; in the end the difference between last year and this year is winning two more games in the NCAA Regional, yet the reason we did not is within the stats you cite. When I compare things in football analysis--I like to look at "what did the best Oregon teams do," or "what did the best teams that made the championships in our sport," or "what is our goal?" That might be the most important comparison; how far are we off our goals in pitching? What is needed in hitting, because I cannot imagine duplicating this record year in 2023 with the departure of so many great hitters? I imagine the coaches know those numbers and have the goals set? Thus far the difference between Waz and Horton is....George had great pitching, and Waz has better hitting. The fundamental coaching is there, but the biggest component in Oregon improving will be recruiting great pitchers, IMHO. This was incredible, ICamel, and I thank you again and invite feedback from anyone.

Yeah Baby! 'It’s Not the Way We TALK, It's About WHAT WE DO'
Geez I love this...puts all the pressure on himself over performance, not talk. Whew! (Coach Wilson Love is in this video, but he is repeating what Coach Lanning has said) Did Lanning kill-it with this staff or what?

Where Oregon is With Jaden Rashada
We will be fine for three years....and Oregon will get theirs in this environment. So far....we came out ahead in the portal game between what was lost and what was gained. Our high school recruiting is going well, so let's live it up while we can! We'll still get our shots...
