  1. No thank you. The magic of that time with Chip cannot be duplicated because the coaches who made it happen are retired. Chip cannot even do what Chip did...at a great place to recruit to in UCLA. I have heard from a number of sources that they hate him down there, as he has angered key boosters in the same manner he did at Oregon. Let's all give this some time and ponder with cooler heads...
  2. We are 10-2 now...and ten wins is great no matter what!
  3. mrspenney....the only negative about your posts is that I wish we would see more of them. You have a great perspective of the program, and I always appreciate your "takes" on a topic. Thanks for posting!
  4. Well, it would take a while! That is a family gathering and what is there will feed about 18 people some of the best BBQ chicken known to mankind. The height of the pit is perfect, so that I can slowly cook it and brown it gradually over an hour and 45 minutes, yet the center is moist and completely done. I am basting butter on a few hot spots on the chicken, although some of the brown color comes from the tasty smoke salt we put on in the beginning and let it cook into the chicken. It is one of the few things I am really good at!
  5. Yep...I'm talking to you OBD forum guests and members! Of all the thousands of pages read on the forum, (over 8,000 yesterday alone) the majority of those on this forum through the day are guests or people simply reading the posts, press releases and news. An older word in the web world describing those who do not post, but read, are lurkers. I never liked the creepy feel of that word, especially when--on this site--these are good people who stopped in, and who are interested in Our Beloved Ducks. The percentages is what surprises me, and over time it has shown that on average 75% of those in the forum are not posting, are not members, but guests who are reading post. Isn't that an incredible number? Three-quarters of those here are not members posting? Whew! Yet that is actually better than the industry average, and I attribute it to our diligence in making people feel safe, thus OBD forum members are more apt to post their opinions. (And I love it) So...if you have a post that disappears, and then you receive an email from you-know-who about a rule violation...it is not just about being nice to each other in our posts. It is for the readers too, because nobody wants to read the nasty stuff that is out there in the rest of the world. When 75% of the people here are simply reading--I want to make it fun for them to do so, and thus they don't have to sort through all the nonsense as they do on other sites. It still blows my mind; roughly 75% of people here are here to read YOUR POSTS, and MY POSTS,...(Yikes!) thus I want to extend all our courtesies to the vast majority who are here to simply read the news and posts. The point of this post is to report it, acknowledge how what we are doing here is to serve you as well and to say THANK YOU for reading and being a part of our unique community of Devoted Duck fans! (P.S. I changed the color of the Pinned Post from Utah Red to Fuchsia to still make it stand out. And no, it is not pink. It is Fuchsia!) 😁
  6. Not on you--for some reason the auto-posting of FishDuck articles did not work this morning, so I put up the article manually in this thread. Then six hours later...it posts the article! You posted under the new one, thus I moved it to the original post. So again--not your fault!
  7. Fred....good to see you for the first time since March. You are a USC fan, thus so we all know--I changed your avatar to reflect that. You have one of the best DCs in the country in Alex Grinch; he beat us with Washington State talent for a number of years, and with Trojan recruiting--what he can do now? Whew!
  8. From Darren Perkins...I moved it to here! Grey Beard Special!!! The Ducks must win, otherwise the Utes travelling to Pasadena would look something like this (like us in '94):
  9. Good article-thanks.
  10. Look...again I've stated how I like so much of Mario, and frankly--I do not see great alternatives out there. But my point is going to be pretty easy to prove in the next month; how many points were averaged over two years of Arroyo and how many points per game were averaged for two years under Moorhead? Compare that to the 43 point per game average over a prior nine year period and going to two 'Nattys? My point is...changing coordinators under Cristobal did not change the scoring average, and neither will the next one.
  11. Savagefund, thanks for introducing yourself, and yes--the tone here is different than forums of all teams. We work at it!
  12. "Cristobal clearly has a vision of how he wants his team to play, and it’s not throwing the ball all over the field, whether the quarterback is Anthony Brown, Tyler Shough, or Justin Herbert." Ritchie: Why UO’s Joe Moorhead May Jump to Akron by Steve and Eli Ritchie of SportsPac12 Do you think Mullens would have hired Cristobal had he known of the massive drop in offense that was coming? So...Moorhead was also sold one thing, and then surprised with something else? People have been unhappy with me for suggesting that Cristobal snookered Mullens in his hiring interview. But the day of the Cristobal introductory press conference that I attended....I stayed afterward and spoke privately with Cristobal for 20 minutes. When I left...there was nobody in the world who had a better idea of what Mario planned on offense for Oregon. And it was not what we have seen. Akron is not a coaching destination.....it is an escape.
  13. This is great technique analysis, although I would rather see it published in an article!
  14. Fun to watch if you have not seen it already...
  15. Yes, that IS Oregon legend Dan Fouts in their short video below! WATCH: Noah Sewell and Duck Legends Give Tour of New Storytelling Home by Max Torres of Duck Digest
  16. Good to read, as they certainly can influence others... Report: Pair of 4 and 5-star Oregon Commits Confirm Intention to Sign with Ducks by Zachary Neel of Ducks Wire
  17. "This particular game is such a mental one in my view, as opposed to what the coaches will say about it being a physical showdown. In fact I do not know if I have ever encountered such a “mental” Oregon game as this one in all my years as an Oregon fan." GameDay Thread of Pac-12 Championship: the MENTAL, Not the Physical Side Will Win by Charles Fischer of FishDuck The "One-Thing" Oregon Needs to Win...
  18. Hello My OBD Forum Friends! Lets get these predictions started and remember I look for the spread with then the closest score that has the spread correct. The data I need from you is: (entries without all the information are invalid, and predictions on other threads don't count as I am not going to hunt them all down) --the winner --the score, and the tiebreaker information needed from each of you is... --the amount of turnovers Oregon creates --the number of sacks Oregon records on the opposing team --the number of passing yards. My guess is: Oregon 27-21, 2, 3, 260 (C'mon Anthony Brown...have a GREAT GAME!)
  19. So very true; could alter the discussion of Oregon AND the conference!
  20. Actually...I am wondering the opposite. Oregon still "gets-theirs," but the other conference members suffer more from Riley's arrival?
  21. Follow me through on this my friends, and I'd love your thoughts on this. The impact of Riley might be felt much more by OTHER conference members than Oregon? In business...the big companies that ceaselessly market (that would be like Mario relentlessly recruiting) will always get their larger share of the pie. The majority of top recruits on the West Coast go to USC and Oregon anyway, and the addition of Riley means Oregon will lose some more head-to-head recruiting competitions, but overall...won't Mario "get his market share" anyway? It seems to me that USC will get more initially with the "Riley-Buzz" but with Oregon's success--we will get our Top-10 class anyway? It might mean fewer SoCal players and more nationally? Wouldn't this mean that with USC getting more than before--that they will take from the other conference members such as Arizona State, UCLA, etc.? It has been a long time since my business marketing and management classes at Oregon; perhaps those who are more versed in this kind of business strategy can chime in? (Or anyone's opinion is welcome for that matter!) I love to ponder this stuff!
  22. Why not start the game at 4:00 PM and get more EST time zone CFB fans watching?
