VERDICT: MC Throttled The Offense
Well, I think a couple of factors are in play...these new young receivers have the ability to get open, and were held back to show "loyalty" to JJ III and Redd. Thornton did it in the Spring Game, then in the Colorado game...and proved his talent so well getting explosion plays...that they never went to him again! (Until last night) This is why I thought JJIII would lose his job to a freshman by mid-season. The talent by the newbies was there, but the coaching was not. Yes Brown did better, but it does not change his inability to see the field, process quickly and lead the receivers better in his throws. He also panics under pressure, and that was evident a few times last night as well. I believe Jay Butterfield could carve defenses up with these receivers and tight ends!

Lanning Pursuing Former Colleague, Penn State Assistant
The GREATEST play of the game may have been that unbelievable punt by Snee out of our end zone and had to have gone 50 yards with no return? Whew!

Running Back Room Filled: Credit Mastro?
We do not have any running backs like what we faced last night other than Travis Dye, IMHO. Cardwell still has a ways to go, and it is apparent some things do not come natural to him as they do to the elite RBs.

Lanning Targeting 2019 National Recruiter of the Year for TE Coach
No sweat--I took care of it, but it is wonderful when others are posting articles the same time I am, because so often--I am tied up and cannot. So thanks to all!

VERDICT: MC Throttled The Offense
Well....we scored 32 points, and that was the season point-per-game average. But I agree with your overall premise--now the young-gun receivers are let loose...look out! And I of all people am glad that what I began as one of the few voices a few years ago concerning Mario and his offense--is now accepted as truth.

Young Ducks Shine: "Terrifying Receiver Corp?"
When you consider how little they played and to emerge, to gain the confidence before our eyes...I agree with Log Haulin. Oregon could have a very potent offense in the future!

Verone McKinley III Has Not Decided But...
I cannot imagine him not going to the NFL Draft, as I am not sure what another year will do for him. His performance in the Ohio State game alone shouted that he was ready, but below is a good summary of what he said last night. Duck Fan Frustration: NOW we See the Deep Ball?
"Where the hell has that been all season?!?!?" Amen, but we did get to see tons of passes thrown behind receivers on crossing patterns such as the first interception! Sewell, Manning Will Be OK, Despite Bowl Injuries
So we had ONE scholarship linebacker in the second half and he was a converted safety. An offensive lineman playing major minutes on the defensive line and not knowing what he was doing, with other major D-L cogs out, (like Thibs) and then we start two inexperienced corners because Wright and James left? In the end...how many actual starters were playing on defense? Any wonder we could not stop the Sooners? It will get better on defense...a LOT better.

College Football is Dying
The Ducks are really close...just a few players away from being very, very good. I believe we have the quarterback we need in house, and that will become apparent this spring. Receivers, offensive line, running backs and tight end are loaded. Get a few more players on defense and we are there. (Can you say Portal?) Add the expertise of Lanning to that defense, and perhaps an offense that could average 40 points per game instead of the present 31? We are then doing double-digit wins, easy, IMHO. See how plausible that is? Not my Mascot...

Are You Ready???
I was born ready. Considering the talent at receiver, running back and tight end? Add a good quarterback to it and we could start scoring a ton more points. Lanning had to see that the defense can improve a ton and if it does... A very fun off-season! It starts tomorrow as Coach Boles unveils another component of the Coach Dillingham offense!

Congrats Young Ducks, and Oklahoma!
We scored our season average on offense, (32 points) but the defense was too depleted at all three levels. Everyone knows about the defensive line and linebackers, but we started inexperienced corners as well. Make just a few stops and it is a game. Seven straight scoring drives for OU at one point... Such great young talent at receiver, and a shame we could not see them until now.

Alamo Bowl Gameday Thread: Why It Matters for Oregon
Don't do that! We are going to have a TON to learn about the new offense and defense and it starts TOMORROW with a new analysis from Coach Boles. This will be the most interesting off-season in a very long time! But until then....

Alamo Bowl Gameday Thread: Why It Matters for Oregon
I want to watch the young-guns in the second half, and I will be downing Widmer Hefeweizen! Remember how loyal Oregon State fans are...and they don't get to see 10 win seasons...
