  1. Boy isn't that the truth. I would not want to be in a top-heavy conference if I was not one of the heavyweights, but fortunately--we are.
  2. If private equity wants in....that is a terrible reflection of college athletic administration management. That means ADs have SO MISSED so many opportunities the outside investors not only see, but believe they can make huge returns on their investment. PE does not want a nice return; they look for B1G returns, and that means a TON has been left on the table by ADs in the B1G...
  3. In the pondering for this article....I completely changed my views. For the reasons in the articles--I want a Top-Heavy conference, and never thought I'd feel that way.
  4. This supports what Jon Joseph stated the other day, (I believe it was him) that our defense was good against the non-elite teams, but when faced with top-5 teams...it was not good against Penn State (No 5 in the final poll) and Ohio State, who finished No. 1 for 2024. So it wasn't the Flu?
  5. Lanning has made a commitment to this defense, and recruited the players for it, thus I believe he has to stay-the-course as they mature into their roles.
  6. Yikes. See Harbaugh's quote below...
  7. If you are NOT an Oregon fan and you are on this forum? You guys have added so much interest these last few months, and it really helps me to see opinions and perspectives outside of my Eugene, Oregon blinders. Oh sure, there are occasional issues with the other CFB fans, but not any different than with Oregon fans. Bottom line is that there are great, reasonable people at all schools who love college football as we do. And not only do I want to say "Thanks," but wish to encourage you to continue posting your thoughts and...send other fans along! Fans from all schools are welcome here! As long as you abide by our rules...and you all do--we would enjoy your thoughts, and feedback on the coming season. Know anyone who is a B1G fan? I'd love more of them here to give us their thoughts... Fun times coming!
  8. So much fun to see the hate from fans elsewhere!
  9. If nothing major occurs in penalties...the fallout from that with tons of other teams engaging in such conduct will be worse than Michigan being sidelined a few years, IMHO. This is pretty egregious. And it hurts our conference no matter what happens from here... Questions for Harbaugh...
  10. I am not sure if this is a paywall article, but it is right here although I will give you some juicy quotes nonetheless. ------------------------------------------------------------ “But when you don’t win the title. When you don’t go to the championship. When the champion ends up beating two of your schools, and your champion loses in the quarterfinals — it’s a big blow to the ego of a league that has thrived for more than 20 years on how big and bad and brawny and successful the SEC has been. So, that is more of a shot for the psyche than any great narrative changing because of what has happened the last two years.” His frank admission evaporates as he returns to his usual SEC bluster... “But I think if you pull the camera back, it really doesn’t matter a whole lot. I think in sports, we tend to look at things over a period of time, not just immediately. The SEC’s record speaks for itself. I think it’s unwise for some to try to argue that this past season was anything different than what it turned out to be. I mean, I’ve heard people talk about, ‘Well, maybe the SEC — certainly the SEC is stronger top to bottom.’ I think we already know that. We live it. It’s not bragging, nor is it boasting, to say that the SEC, top to bottom, is the best league." No Paul, you are not stronger at the top! (For the past two years)
  11. The Speed Double-Option play for our final touchdown vs. Ohio State.
  12. Latest on TOS (the other site) is that Hampton is not listed in the latest serious candidates for the Ohio State DC job, but newly hired Ryan Walters at Washington is. So the Huskies lose their DC to North Carolina, and now their replacement is a candidate for the Buckeyes? Seattle is an Open Door...
  13. So he goes to a bitter B1G rival to stick-it to them? Working with Penn State defensive personnel? Two observations....PSU is going to be very tough this fall, and...there must be QUITE a backstory to this departure. A coach doesn't go to a rival for the same position if he is completely happy...
  14. This might be an even better matchup for him--all preparation, study and strategy and NO recruiting.
  15. Haven't seen anything official yet on both. But the portal period for Whittington has passed for him to enter it.
  16. David, over the years writing for FishDuck--you become more and more of an analyst--in addition to being a superb Op-Ed writer. GREAT observations...
  17. Max Torres is a well respected writer for On3, and was with Sports Illustrated before that. He reports..."For what it's worth, Matthew Bedford is with the team during offseason workouts. Maybe an encouraging sign of him returning next year, though I haven't seen anything officially announced." Without playing last year--his chances in the NFL Draft are low, and if he could not play next year due to medical reasons...why would he working out with the team? What other conclusion can we draw, other than he'll be back? This would boost the offensive line like...WOW. (Calm down Charles, as it has not happened yet)
