  1. I will have one tomorrow after I am done going through it for analysis purposes. I always create one for our writers/coaches who create articles and analyses. Remind me late tomorrow or Monday by PM. And anyone else is welcome...
  2. Opening Statement… “Certainly an awesome environment and always is here at Autzen and I think our fans are unbelievable. There is an awesome concert going on right now. There were definitely pieces of today that were a little bit sloppy and made me wish we had some more practices but also some points of improvement, some places we can go attack. I appreciate our guys' effort and enthusiasm out there on the field. I certainly think we have great talent to go out there and compete.” Defensive Line… “I have to go back and watch the film and see exactly how it was. There were certainly some advantageous matchups, but there are some guys out there who can certainly play for us. If you want to win football games, you have to win it in the front on both sides of the ball. I am excited about those guys we have in that group. There’s some young guys that I expect to step up and have bigger roles than they did last year, but also a group on both sides that we can continue to develop.” On what you saw from ball carriers today… “Yeah I mean we’ve all seen what Jordan can do, and really impressed with that. I think there’s other guys that are doing a really good job growing in that room. I’m going to go back and look, I think there’s some of those plays we could have been more physical and look for opportunities to attack with even better pad level. Overall, I think we know what we have in that room, we have some guys we can compete with. On the young defensive backs… “It’s really hard to be able to come in and compete, especially as a freshman in this defense and what we ask these guys to do. There’s a lot they have to absorb and sometimes days like today are awesome days to see those guys go out there and play fast. Dakota (Fields) had a big play. Aaron (Flowers) had some big tackles. We’ve signed good football players and it’s our job to continue to develop them but excited about their growth.” On wide receiver group… “I know everybody here is going to talk about what they saw today, but I have to speak on what I’ve seen all spring. We have some talented guys in that room. We have to eliminate some of the MA’s that occur when you’re learning something new. I see burst, I see explosion, I see guys that grab the ball when it's in the air. Big catch radius is the ability to run after a catch. It’s a deep group for us, I think there’s a lot of guys that can help us.” On the key to being sustainably good… “Recruit well and develop your roster. Understand the strengths and weaknesses of your team and continue to build into that while always preparing with the future in mind. Obviously we're getting ready for this next season but the season after that is just as important in how we recruit and events like this are huge for it. There are a lot of recruits out there watching us play, but they're not going to impact us next season, but they'll impact the season after that so we have to do a great job of developing the young guys that we have here and continuing to build our roster.” On injuries after today… “I don’t have any updates yet. I think we’ll come out of it all right. Football is football. Is it frustrating for the player? Yes, but football is football. You have a limited amount of time to go out there and play. We’ve got time to be healthy and get through spring.” On eight players getting drafted… “I think it was eight right? Eight? Not bad. I think it’s exciting, now it’s about getting more of those guys in the first and second. You’re so thrilled for people that work their tails off for an opportunity and compete so hard for the Oregon Ducks, and for that to turn into future success for them, that’s something we’re really excited about. Those guys put blood, sweat, and tears into their efforts here and I know that's going to carry over well. There’s some NFL teams getting really good players.” On Justius Lowe… “Justius (Lowe) has consistently been a really good player for us. He has to be able to be healthy and when he’s healthy he’s definitely a guy who can make an impact for us.” Being with Bo (Nix) for when he got drafted and Troy (Franklin) joining him in Denver… “I thought that might play out, having some late night conversations with teams about our guys. Getting to share those moments with these players, I feel like it’s a small piece we can give back for all they’ve done for us. Seeing some dreams live out is pretty awesome, especially when you can be there with the family and experience it firsthand.” On chemistry going into fall… “I think the DNA traits for us aren’t going to change. It still has to be about connection, growth, toughness and sacrifice. Every team is unique, every team is different but it’s about growing up together. I think our team grew up a ton coming into spring. We had a talented team, but we had to become a team. I think I saw a lot of that throughout this spring.” On what team leaders should attack… “Getting better. I'm just excited to see these guys continue to work. Just because spring ball ends doesn't mean we don't continue to improve.” On fuel for the return to Autzen… “I saw some smiles on some guys' faces. Being a recruit and being a player are two different things. Getting to wear that uniform for the first time and to see our fans and how passionate they are about what we’re doing here, I think that was a lot of fun for those guys. Next time, it’s the real deal.” On Troy (Franklin) not going earlier in the draft… “Yeah I am certainly surprised that some teams missed on an opportunity to get him but I know that Troy (Franklin) is going to make the best of the opportunity that he got and I think he's going to a great team with coaches that understand his strengths and he's getting to play with his former quarterback. You can sit here and worry about what everybody else and their situation is, but I'm excited about the situation that Troy (Franklin) is walking into.” On Ben Roberts… “I think Coach Tuioti has done an unbelievable job with our defensive line and continued to develop it and grow it. Ben is certainly one of those guys that’s embraced, what’s the technique required to be successful at the position. D-Line is a really technical position, and Ben’s done a good job this offseason of attacking that. On upcoming recruiting efforts… “We always recruit. It doesn’t ever feel like we’re not recruiting. We are going to get some opportunities for our coaches to go on the road and see some people in person, get to be around guys that we want to target, and find some guys that we probably don’t know about. You’re always looking for ways to improve your roster and that’s what we’ll be able to do the next couple of weeks.” On Teitum (Tuioti) and his growth from year one to year two… “The exact same thing. What he did out there on the field is exactly what he does in practice everyday. This guy had gotten bigger, faster and stronger. He is very intelligent and you can start to hear his voice out there on the field so I am really proud of Teitum (Tuioti) and his growth.” On secondary performance today… “I feel like we have a team that can compete and go win. I feel like we have a good group in several positions. I’m certainly feeling good about the secondary.” On difference from last year's defense… “It’s a new team. Really, anything that happened with last year has nothing to do with the next year. Other than the continuity of the coaching staff, what we’re continuing to build, some players getting older. But you want to see growth, you want to see them keep developing, keep getting better, playing with tenacity, raising their own standard of play. You know, what winning football is to them, I think we have a group that’ll embrace that.”
  3. Disagree. I watch every Oregon Baseball game, and the Oregon streams are excellent and consistent. Other schools, including the Pac-12 Network at times have been spotty, and I know how to operate things, and have done so for years.
  4. He dropped one out of every ten passes thrown to him, and I believe that is the reason.
  5. A great example of how all the skills among us can help! I could not create it, but NJDuck could for all of us. If you want a full roster, below is what was sent at the beginning of Spring Football to credentialed media. But I think NJ's is better, as it is broken down by the team and by offense/defense. 2024 Spring Roster.pdf
  6. Our Beloved Ducks lost a pitchers duel 2-0 last night and resume the series tonight at 6:00 PM, but not only is it on TV, but on ESPN2! This rarely happens, so I would suggest joining me in watching a great baseball game.
  7. It looks like I spoke too soon. My desktop version of the forum went wonky again, and once they turned off a feature they have to speed up page loading--it goes back to normal. I hate this stuff... Technology is wonderful...when it works.
  8. I know, my divorce was only this last November, and this is the classic case of a stupid man getting into a rebound situation. First, let me tell you about my lost-love... She was Inversion IPA made by Deschutes Brewery in Bend, and they discontinued this favorite Oregon Craft Beer of mine as a regular offering. I was crestfallen, as I could not find another beer that resembled the same flavor available year-round...until now. Above is the Van Henion Pale Ale, from the new Van Henion Brewery in Bend, as principals John Van Duzer, Mark and Dana Henion combined their knowledge of brewing from their time at Deschutes Brewery, Ninkasi Brewery in Eugene, and Boneyard Brewing in Bend. A great write-up telling their story is right here that you will enjoy. This is the only time you will see me do a "bait-and-switch" from a title to the actual purpose of a post, as I wanted to be sure that the beer-drinkers in the community saw this post. I want to give a thanks to Ryan at Market-of-Choice for guiding me to this new Oregon beer, and it is quite possible these brew masters were part of my coveted Inversion IPA in the past. Do try some! Their website also gives more information about this beer and the Lagers they are becoming famous for. And no, I am not so silly as to be dating or even mingling as I am enjoying building my Charitable Planned Giving Consulting firm, and posting my silly GIFs here with this community that I so love. In fact I am really having a blast living alone where I fart, belch and cheer for Our Beloved Ducks in my undies. (Sorry for that mental image) Well, all that and talking with my Duck-Buddies who are as rabid fans as I. So, I am passing this along now, as I will be sipping the last of them this weekend for quite a while as I return to my low-inflammation diet to ease the pain of arthritis. (Beer is bad for it) I hope you like this new one as much as I do...as I'm love once again!
  9. A quick update for you all... 1. I finished an online meeting today with Ad Platform engineer in San Diego, and the Web Developer in England, and we believe we have solved the issues that occurred last weekend and also enhanced the page loading speed of the two sites. 2. FishDuck Photographer, Steven Chan, will be on the field at Autzen capturing photos at the Oregon Spring Game, and then on Sunday will be in Corvallis to shoot photos of the Oregon/Oregon State Baseball game! 3. We will have some new improvements added to the forum in the next few weeks, including a visible "Donate" button. Only between the advertising and your donations are we able to keep the bills paid for photographers and Tech Support on both volunteer sites. Those who write, edit, post article links, (and I) operate as all-volunteer. Thanks for your support!
  10. Our catchers better be ready, since Oregon State has proven adept at stealing 300 million, thus a couple of bases should be easy!
  11. Whoever wins this series is in a much better position to win the conference, thus important for both teams. The No. 9 Bastard Beavers are coming off a four-out-of-five-game losing skid, and will be primed and ready to take us on in Corvallis. Let's Go Ducks! Oregon has six players batting over .300 and three knocking on the door at .292 to .300, thus the potential is there!
  12. When a great player is recruited, nobody has any idea if he will be in the top group at his position or not. Bowens is a redshirt freshman, and could probably see too many people at his position, some of which may have moved ahead of him already. And then we have the true freshmen DL coming in... Whoever is at the bottom of a depth chart--will transfer. It is something I have to get used to still, but it is the reality when so many are being recruited.
  13. Nix Selected 12th Overall by Broncos EUGENE, Ore. — Oregon quarterback Bo Nix was selected by the Denver Broncos with the No. 12 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft on Thursday night. Nix becomes the seventh Duck quarterback ever to be drafted in the first round, joining Justin Herbert (2020), Marcus Mariota (2015), Joey Harrington (2002), Akili Smith (1999), Chris Miller (1987) and George Shaw (1955). Oregon has now had a first-round pick in five straight NFL Drafts, with Nix following Herbert (2020), Penei Sewell (2021), Kayvon Thibodeaux (2022) and Christian Gonzalez (2023). Oregon now has 22 total first-round picks in program history, including 10 since 2013 and 13 since 2000. Nix becomes the first Duck ever to be taken by the Broncos in the first round and the 10th overall to be drafted by Denver, reuniting with former center Alex Forsyth who was a seventh-round pick in 2023. The fourth Heisman Trophy finalist in program history and fourth Duck to be named the conference offensive player of the year, Nix put together one of the greatest seasons ever by an Oregon quarterback in 2023 to cap his collegiate career. He led the nation in passing touchdowns (45) while ranking second in passing yards per game (322.0), passing yards (4,508) and passer rating (188.32), and he set a new NCAA single-season record with a stellar 77.45 completion percentage (364-of-470). Nix set Oregon single-season records for completions, passing yards and passing touchdowns, and became the first Duck ever to surpass 4,500 passing yards in a season. He also threw just three interceptions, becoming the first FBS player since at least 2000 to record at least 45 passing touchdowns and no more than three picks in a season. A native of Pinson, Ala., Nix left Oregon as the program’s all-time leader in completion percentage at 74.9% (658-of-879), and he is the only UO quarterback ever to post a completion percentage of 70.0 or better in a season, also doing so in 2022 (71.9, 294-of-409). Despite playing just two seasons in Eugene, Nix also ranks third in program history in career completions (658), third in passing touchdowns (74) and fifth in passing yards (8,101). Nix was also the winner of the 2023 William V. Campbell Trophy, presented to the nation’s top scholar-athlete for the best combination of academic success, athletic performance and exemplary leadership. Drake Maye to New England Patriots 4. Marvin Harrison to Arizona Cardinals 5. Joe Alt, Offensive Tackle with only one sack allowed in two seasons to the Los Angeles Chargers 6. Malik Nabers, WR to NY Giants 7. JC Latham, OL, to Tennessee Titans 8. Michael Penix to Atlanta Falcons 9. Rome Odunze to Chicago Bears 10. J.J. McCarthy to my Minnesota Vikings (AAAGH!) 11. Olumuyiwa Fashanu, OL, to NY Jets 12. Bo Nix to Denver! 13. Brock Bowers to the Las Vegas Raiders 14. Taliese Fuaga, OL from Oregon State, to New Orleans Saints 15.
  15. A very nice article indeed, and he brings up some good points--especially about being a few plays away from Lanning being 26-1, instead of 22-5. Those few plays--make the difference. Can Oregon get it done in 2024?
  16. And he does not know the direction of the Willamette River flowing? THE river that connects us and have in common? Trust me...the Beavers know water...
  17. Unfortunately, he might be on a "Bag" tour; whoever provides the biggest bag? He has visited Oregon and knows us, but this is not looking so promising as the other day.
  18. In case anyone may think my post above is a bit cruel....note the actual picture below at a Civil War Baseball game a few years back, taken by FishDuck Photographer Kevin Cline.
  19. Even the Beavers know their marketing has sucked, since the primary purpose was show that they were the "Anti-Oregon," option, and that has clearly not worked. What do you do when there is NO excitement about your athletics? Players leaving like a slowly dying, bleeding-out wounded soldier...how can you promote your football program to the country? Perhaps SYMPATHY? (Although stealing 30 million from Oregon has worked pretty well) Yeah! That could work...generating sympathy can't be any worse than what they've done? How about... When the chosen of CFB were Raptured to the Heaven of the Power-4, Oregon State was... I know...I'm brutal.
  20. Oram's article about the OSU Spring Game brought him hate, and this one will bring even more. Be like Oregon? They can't, as they hate us and insist on poor marketing and promotion...which got them to this place. The difference in the Spring Games exemplifies the savvy, or lack of it by the athletic administration of each school. It illustrates why both schools are in the spot they are...and yet Oregon is supposed to help OSU further according to John Canzano? Over 30 million taken from Oregon over the next ten years, and bailing out their media contract with a Civil War in Corvallis? I could feel sorry for them if they weren't stealing from us, and they would hate us no matter what we did for them. The thought of even a fraction of a cent of my State of Oregon tax dollar going to support them makes me ill. What should we do?
  21. Completely agree. And you can now put Mariota in that category since he recently admitted he lost his confidence as Joey did. (Because they both got the heck beaten out of them)
  22. The answer given by the president to John, in reference to helping helping Oregon State made me want to hurl. Of course, you must make their problem, our problem! As if 30 million and rescheduling isn’t enough? So weak, so....
