  1. All righty then! The Portal King, Mari(o), Ryan Day, DeBoer, Sark, and a whole lot more other than Dabo on the portal front, aren't using NIL to attract recruits and portal guys? But for the money why would a kid not pick the home of The Portal King over Eugene? Choosing Oxford, Mississippi to play ball is the righteous and obvious choice based on all of the Nattys Coach Kiffin has won, the sterling academics, and the play of the iconic Jackie Robinson. What's that? Jackie didn't play at Ole Miss? Sorry, I was thinking of Archie. Jackie not attending school in Oxford does not lessen a football player with an Ole Miss degree in hand career opportunities outside of football. With the academic power of an Ole Miss degree coupled with Ole Miss's blue-blood prowess in football, would anyone opt for a sneaker company unless he was bought off? The rainy NW instead of practicing and playing games in 90-plus-degree weather accompanied by 80% humidity? What's wrong with you, Son? Very few people are aware of how many high school students have Stanford as their safety school if they are not welcomed to the hallowed academic halls of Ole Miss. They are simply not paying attention and not giving a Faulk(ner) about the opportunities that abound in the state capital Jackson, Mississippi, even though the water is not safe to drink. And starting salaries in Vicksburg are off the charts. Money is an excuse for not being as prepared on the NIL front as is and was and will be Oregon. It's an affront to Danno and friends' recruiting prowess. It's also an excuse when Oregon wins it all. I believe that it is at least 30 years now that Phil has been trying to buy a Natty, right? Of course, during the BCS and 4-team playoff era, no one was being paid. $cam? No offense intended to our UGA friends on OBD but how many games have SEC teams lost simply because they could not get fired up about playing OOC lesser competition? Not many. OK, South Central, it's your turn.
  2. Get ready for B1G Media days, July 23 to July 25. Danno, Gabe, Fergie, and Bassa Nova will be in the house, appearing on July 25th, Day 3. From a half-day affair on 'I can't find the channel,' to a 3-day affair watched by 50M or so fans. How sweet it is. What Big Ten football players are going to 2024 Big Ten Media Days? Here's a full list of who will be speaking SPORTS.YAHOO.COM On Thursday, the Big Ten Conference announced what players from its 18 teams will be at Big Ten Football Media Day later this month. Here's more: It is B1G!
  3. We're not dead! We are the undead zombie conference. Pac-12 Conference sends message during two-team media event: We're not dead SPORTS.YAHOO.COM The beleaguered Pac-12 Conference had a message to deliver this week in Las Vegas: It's still alive and fighting, even with only two schools left. The Pig 2 Zombie Conference will continue to fight until the money they 'stole' runs out.
  4. I pity the fool who sleeps on Mr. T T. 2024 college football sleeper picks from each post-spring Top 25 team - ESPN WWW.ESPN.COM Our reporters break down post-spring Top 25 teams' sleeper picks to look out for this coming season.
  5. What if you had a party and ... At least the acoustics were good. 😂
  6. With this young man coming out of Shaker Heights, getting his commitment will warrant a HOLY TOLEDO!
  7. I would prefer OBD to play in Ann Arbor and Madison in October and not November but with a coast-to-coast conference bad weather games will happen. Michigan is game No. 6 in an eight-game run without a week off and Wiscon is game No. 8. As you noted Jabbar, cold weather itself is not that problematic but cold weather with wind is a witch.
  8. The QB play in the B1G was far behind the play in the Pac-12 in 2023. The Pac-12 top to bottom was the deeper conference. The QB play in the B1G should improve in 2024 but it will not be close to Pac-12 play in 2023. On paper, the SEC looks to have the best crop of QBs in 2024 but we will not see a QB-heavy 1st round draft in 2025 that we witnessed in 2025. The Iowa QB and the Wisconsin QB were injured early on. The Iowa O has to improve and if Ficlel doesn't go Mari(o) on Miami transfer QB Van Dyck, the Badgers should improve. Both Indiana and Minnesota have brought in transfers who should improve the position. Nebraska lost 5 one-score games last season and Matt Ruhle was able to poach 5* QB Dylan Raiola from Kirby Smart. With Saban's departure, Ryan Day brought in 5* QB Julian ('Just') Sayin. I think the questions and comments regarding defense in the B1G are warranted. Michigan and Ohio State had awesome Ds in 2023. Michigan's D may drop off somewhat but Ohio State's D should improve. The Ducks and Danno are bringing a solid D into the B1G. UCLA, USC, and UW? Based on recruiting rankings it is no surprise that the SEC, especially with the Oklahoma and Texas additions, is the deepest and most successful conference. (Duh.) These 2024 out-of-conference games are important for the B1G's national perception. USC vs LSU and Notre Dame. Michigan vs Texas. Wisconsin vs Alabama. UCLA vs LSU. Rutgers at VA Tech. Minnesota vs UNC. Purdue vs Notre Dame. Penn State at W VA. MI State at Boston College. Kansas at Illinois. Boise (the preseason polls G5 front-runner) at OBD. CU at Nebraska. Iowa State at Iowa. The B1G 2 vs The Left Behinds. I hope in December that the B1G will have five teams contending for the Playoff. OREGON, Ohio State, Michigan, Penn State, and Iowa all have a shot at 10 or more wins. IMO, the SEC will have at least five teams with a shot at the playoff. It's going to be B1G!
  9. Solar, until Bama's on-field results drop off, IMO Bama will continue to sell itself amid fertile recruiting territory. I think DeBoer will do OK in Tuscaloosa but I see no one, even Kirby Smart duplicating what Saban did. Especially, with NIL and no restraints on transfers.
  10. The B1Gger they come ... Ohio State football has most top-100 players in EA Sports College Football 25 SCARLETANDGAME.COM No one has more top-100 players than the Ohio State football team in EA Sports College Football 25.
  11. Spot On For Oregon! Boise? Texas? These 2 choices vex us. Predicting all automatic bids for the College Football Playoff WWW.YARDBARKER.COM The 2024-2025 college football season is approaching fast, and fans are anticipating the opening kickoff. Ewers looks like his jock strap has gone awry. To wit: NFL Draft scouts reportedly not sold on Texas QB Quinn Ewers WWW.YARDBARKER.COM As things stand right now, many scouts believe Ewers isn’t even a Round 1 talent, according to ESPN draft analyst Jordan Reid.
  12. I admire Fisch for 'getting it.' DeBore brought Penix in but for the most part, DeBoer stepped into a ready-made gold mine. Even with a roster advantage vs most opponents, in 2023 UW won an inordinate number of 1-score games. One reason why SP+ at season's end had Oregon ranked higher than UW, and also Texas. Fisch knows that to recruit and portal pick today he needs money. No more faux Ivy League BS, money. Under difficult circumstances, he has UW ranked inside the 2025 recruiting rankings. Do not sell this guy short. He dropped two games last season, at USC and vs UW that Arizona could have won and then competed for a conference title. At the 2023 season's end, AZ was one of the most dangerous teams in the nation. The Wildcats defeated the Sooners, a team that defeated PO Texas in 2023, by hanging in and not giving up. I was very happy to have the Ducks play in Tempe last season and not in Tucson. I hope the job at Fisch's alma mater, Florida, opens up and he follows Slick and Mari(o) home. In the long term, Fisch will put a quality product on the field. A team that will consistently be in the top third of the B1G. However, dumping on the Huskies is all good.😍
  13. It's great for OBD to have two Georgia fans on board, SoGaDawg and Nevada Dawg. I hope (GULP!) that Oregon and Georgia meet up in the 2024 and future Playoffs. Best to The Smarties in 2024.

  16. Shouldn't this article refer to Doctor Rising? Utah star QB Cam Rising hints 2024 college football season will be his last: 'Seven years is more than enough' - CBSSports.com WWW.CBSSPORTS.COM Rising would be eligible to play again in 2025 at the age of 26 due to a consent decree by the U.S. DOJ
  17. This is some clear-headed scheduling thinking. Especially an H+H with Cal that may help lower Calimony payments. And swapping Georgia/Auburn for Utah is a smart logistical move. Rob, pay attention. Why not Cal and/or Stanford instead of competitive B12 teams? And BTW, drop the game at Utah State, please? UCLA swaps SEC powers Georgia, Auburn from future schedules in favor of former Pac-12 foes Cal, Utah - CBSSports.com WWW.CBSSPORTS.COM UCLA will face regional opponents Utah and Cal instead of Auburn, Georgia I'm not sure that post-$cam Auburn has been an 'SEC power?'
  18. Like the NFL, a cap on the direct payment of salaries from a player's employer-university will be instituted whenever 'someone' can figure out the structure of a Players Union and who constitutes Management. This is most likely, without help from Congress, on the way. Like the NFL there will be no limit on a college athlete's ability to market his or her Name, Image, and Likeness. Any attempt to cap NIL would be a restraint on trade. Based on negative court decisions and state legislation, the NCAA has given up-regulating NIL in any way, shape, or form and has also given up putting restraints on transfers. A player's agent knows the going market rate for recruits and transfers. And agents of course will try to pit one NIL collective against another NIL collective or more. However, as David noted it isn't all about the Benji's in every case. As David noted, 'Can you get me to the pros?' is a question that any recruit or transfer looking down the road will ask. As to A+M, having to come up with $72M to get rid of Jimbo may have put a damper on the Aggies' NIL. However, Mike Elko did a very good job of bringing in quality players from the portal. There's a whole lot of oil money in Texas. Thanks, David for another excellent article.
  19. NCAAF futures: Should you back one of these CFB teams to upset Georgia? WWW.YARDBARKER.COM Suffice it to say, the Georgia Bulldogs have earned the right to be betting favorites ahead of the college football season. Whether you should go ahead and bet on them, however, isn't so set in stone. No surprise, Oregon made the list. Yes, Quinn Ewers was a PO QB in '23, but Dillon Gabriel was the 1st team All B12 QB in '23 and took down UT and Ewers.
  20. OREGON! The most physical B1G team? Woody 😒and Bo 😵are rolling in their B1G graves. Make It So!
  21. No surprise. The 2 Os are Michigan's toughest opponents in 2024. Ranking the games on Michigan’s 2024 football schedule by difficulty WWW.MAIZENBREW.COM Which teams will give the Wolverines the most trouble on the field this year? Puddles, fly home with a B1G win in the Big House.
  22. How About this - Anesthetize the Echoes! 3 Fighting Irish on Thin Ice Heading Into 2024 Season DAWINDYCITY.COM The Notre Dame Fighting Irish are trying to build off last season’s success heading into a pivotal 2024 season. The Irish finished the 2023 season with a 10-3 r I'm hoping the ice melts early on in College Station, Texas.
  23. Wins needed for the Other Team Up North to make the Playoff?' Nuck, Nuck, Nuck. 😁 And Lumen Field in Seattle will be a tough environment for The Apple Cup? Where do they find these guys? Calculating Washington football wins needed for College Football Playoff at-large bid THEHUSKYHAUL.COM The College Football Playoff will be expanding to 12 teams starting this season, so there is an easier opportunity to make the playoff than there ever has been. 24. Ohio State preview. What Oregon Duck fans should know about the Ohio State Buckeyes DUCKSWIRE.USATODAY.COM A deep dive into the Ohio State Buckeyes and their outlook in the new Big Ten Conference for the 2024 college football season. Utah in the Rose Bowl vs tOSU? if seeded No. 1 Ohio State would play the winner of the No. 9 seed at the No. 8 seed. If seeded second, Ohio State would play the 10th seed at the 7th seed. Ducks Wire is a USA Today site. USA Today's preseason top 25 poll ranks Utah 12th which would have Utah winning the B12 and seeded No. 4 behind No. 3 seed Clemson. As the 4 seed, Utah would play the winner of 5 Texas vs 12 G5, with the game played in Austin. Safe to say that Utah's opening game PO would be played in the Fiesta Bowl vs. Texas. 6th seed Oregon's opening game would be vs Missouri in Autzen. Win this and Oregon would play Clemson in the Peach Bowl in Atlanta. The 5th seed will have close to a 1st round bye but not the 6th seed. The PO format is confusing (and senseless IMO) but the folks at Ducks Wire should get this. BTW, USA Today's rankings, which should mirror the newspaper's thoughts on what the USA Today Coaches Poll (a/k/a Sports Information Directors Poll) will be when released next month, has 6 SEC teams advancing to the 2024-25 Playoff. Something that will not bounce too high at B1G HQ in Rosemont (Chicago,) Illinois. Reminder: B1G Ten Media Days - July 23-25 on the BTN, the Big Ten Network.
  25. Only 4 of the 5 starters on the list? Blasphemy! Ohio State's Center, Seth McLaughlin, transferred to tOSU from Bama after rolling many ground balls to The Tide's QB Jalen Milroe in the 2024 Rose Bowl. His last bad low snap messed up the timing of Milroe's attempt to tie up the game in OT.
