  1. I do not disagree with you but I believe that the B1G powers-that-be would strongly disagree and these are the people who matter.
  2. I reiterate I do not see the B1G presidents bringing in one let alone two schools that are not AAU members. Unless the two schools are willing to pay huge exit fees the iron at this time IMO is not all that hot. ESPN has an on-the-cheap, terrific broadcast deal with the ACC. ESPN wanted Oklahoma and Texas. I don't see ESPN wanting to spend money to break up the ACC and crater the ACC Network. I think Fox would love these 2 schools in its quiver and as an in-your-face to ESPN but I don't think that Fox has the same power over B1G presidents as ESPN has over the SEC. The B1G prides itself in being academically superior to the SEC. As noted above, the University of South Florida was just granted AAU membership and FSU was denied membership. When the ACC's current membership breaks up, I think that Clemson and FSU will be off to the SEC where both fit. Notre Dame is not only a bigger national brand than these 2 but also has the academics to get on board the B1G. I believe that both of the Power 2 conferences will go to 20 teams. If a Baker-like pay-for-play model is adopted I can see Northwestern and Vanderbilt opting out.
  3. Bo Nix, Dillon Gabriel, and the new world of college football quarterbacks SATURDAYOUTWEST.COM Bo Nix was outstanding for Oregon. Dillon Gabriel should be the same. In modern football, the biggest programs have zero incentive to develop QBs anymore.
  4. Charles, thank you. Better Sooner than later. I wonder if Boomer is still ticked off over USC poaching Riley?
  5. Ducked, these rankings come from ESPN's final regular season FPI rankings.
  6. Friend, Boomer. Is that Boomer as in Sooner? Gabriel will be the best QB in the B1G in 2024, including Michigan's McCarthy if he returns to the Wolverines. Oregon is adding the B12 Power 4 conference 1st string All B12 QB. And this won't help Oregon? Which QB do you trust more opening up in DG's home state of Hawaii? DG with 4 years of starting experience or Ty?
  7. I'm convinced he will help Puddles cause from day 1.
  8. If Dillon stays healthy he will break Bo's record for QB starts.
  9. In 2023, Moore threw for 1,601 yards, 114 - 213, 11 TDs, and 9 INTS. 53%. Not good numbers but the young man was thrown to the wolves and played for a bad offense. 43rd in O production. Not a good showing with UCLA's 3 OOC cupcakes and missing Oregon and UW schedule. None of the 3 QBs who started for UCLA had a good season. I do not see this being all on Moore. Chip's O was bad no matter which QB started. In my opinion with a season of being coached by Stein, he will markedly improve. All the physical tools are there. If DL and Stein want him, I am not going to second guess.
  10. The All B12 1st string QB. No other team will be signing an all-P4 conference QB. Dillon has been legit since coming out of HS where he was named the HS POY.
  11. I gave up on computer 'logic' in 2001 when Nebraska and not Oregon played for the BCS title. GIGO. Maybe Neil Everett did the computer work?
  12. Career-wise, Dillon has it all over Cam Ward. I'm not certain that with Gabriel in the mix, that Ward was even on Lanning's and Stein's radar. Dillon is a true dual-threat QB, a far better runner than Ward. A better run threat than Bo. 2018 - HS POY 2022 - 2nd team All B12. 2023 - 1st team All B12. 2023 - 40 TDs, 12 rushing, 30 passing, 69.3 completion percentage, 6 INTs. 3660 yards passing. 252 points accounted for. Beat out Texas QB, Quinn Ewers for the 1st team QB honor. Won the 2023 Red River Rivalry game over Ewers and No. 3 Texas. Ward is a very good player but not at the level of Dillon. And, if Oregon can also pick up Moore, and have a season to groom him, the next 3 seasons of Oregon QB room are bright. It's rare to pick up a QB who was an all-conference player in a P4 conference. IMO, Dillon is the best 2024 QB transfer and will fit perfectly into Stein's scheme. DL is far from the 2024 portal finished. Oregon has a very good chance to add 4-year starter DB Mukuba from Clemson and 5* DL recruit Nolen from Texas A+M. I have every confidence in DL successfully picking the portal with Dillon and others to come.
  13. Thanks, Charles, great take. The following is why taking a QB with experience and integrating the QB into your offense makes far more sense today than developing a player out of high school. 2024 Opponents - Idaho - FCS Playoff title contender. Bowl Eligible (BE.) Boise State - Mountain West champion. BE. No. 19 Oregon State - the game in Corvallis (one less home game than was scheduled.) BE. UCLA - BE. - the game in LA No. 7 - Ohio State - NY6 Bowl. No. 1 Michigan - the game in Ann Arbor - Playoff Final 4. Maryland - BE Wisconsin - BE - the game in Madison. No. 2 Washington. Playoff Final 4. Plus B1G P4 opponents Michigan State, Purdue in W. Lafayette, and Illinois. How would any untested QB do against this schedule? Nine 2023 BE opponents including Committee ranked No. 1, No. 2, No. 6, and No.19. WOW! On paper, this will be one of if not the most difficult schedules in the nation in 2024. How accurately predictive are recruiting rankings for QBs coming out of HS? Why a crap shoot instead of taking a guy who has put it on Pass Line and won. A player who has played against college athletes and not just high school athletes. Roster management and taking the correct QB out of the portal are more vital to today's game if you want to be an annual playoff contender, than coaching an inexperienced player up. If you are in the process of coaching a player up, you most likely will not be in the playoff season after season. Go Ducks! Extinguish the Flames!
  14. The University of South Florida was recently awarded AAU membership; Florida State University was not designated an AAU member university. Unless Fox is completely calling the B1G shots, unless B1G Prex are more concerned about being at the top of the Power 2 in football, this move is not going to happen. The B1G will wait for Notre Dame and add another school when ND comes on board. Southeastern AAU member schools UVA, UNC, Duke, Miami, and Georgia Tech have a better shot at joining the B1G than FSU. Of course, today one should never short the power of the all-mighty dollar.
  15. USC DC D'Aton Lynn - $2M per annum. $500K housing subsidy per annum. Riley needs help! Sorry, I can't find my lie-jacket. Hayes: The honeymoon ended months ago. Lincoln Riley’s marriage with USC is on the rocks SATURDAYOUTWEST.COM Lincoln Riley was the splashy hire and Heisman Trophy whisperer. It worked, too, in Year 1. Year 2 was a disaster. Now what?
  16. Michigan's O was stagnant in 3 out of the last 4 games. Against Iowa, Michigan rushed for less than 3 yards a carry. The schedule Michigan played was embarrassing. Michigan ran roughshod over a bunch of crummy teams. UW out-metrics Michigan in every category but total defense but UW played against offenses that could score points. Now, watch the Wolverines win the title.
  17. Great comment. Watching the Army-Navy game. Dad was a WW2 Tin Can sailor in the South Pacific so, Go Navy! Beat Army! The 4 schools already paying players who are all already professionals: Air Force Academy; Army: Coast Guard Academy; and Navy Once upon a time, the Army/Navy pros played at the top echelon of college football, and Army/Navy players won the Heisman Trophy. The more things change?
  18. The system, 4 spots for 5 P5 champs was flawed from the start. The only reason it has not been more chaotic is that the Pac-12 has not produced playoff-quality teams for many of the 10 playoff seasons. Thank you, Counselor Whitty. IMO the best thing about being a retired attorney is by far, being retired. When your profession comes in lower than that of used car salesmen it is not a good look. In a car accident? Please do not call 1- 800- Jon - Jose. Ole!
  19. In theory, even though he is in the portal, Ty could play in the Fiesta Bowl. Utah QB Barnes is in the portal and will play for Utah in the Las Vegas Bowl. Gabriel is not eligible to play in the 2024 Fiesta Bowl,
  20. Charles, I think that Chip did a terrible job with the young man's development. He did throw for quite a few yards in limited action but he was an INT machine. The entire Bruins O and there were injuries at the QB position, seemed to be out of sync this season. DTR was a terrific college QB and he has played well for the Browns. Chips buyout drops significantly in mid-December. UCLA to date has 11 commits in the 2024 class. The UCLA AD is not happy about this and is also not happy with Chip's relationship with Bruins boosters. Still lots of good coaching candidates out there including Liberty's Chadwell. 13-0 at Liberty and a lot of success at Coastal Carolina. It also doesn't help that Chip's DC who put a solid D on the field at UCLA in 2023 is headed crosstown to USC.
  21. No surprise. Best of luck to Ty.
  22. At least 50% of a school's scholarship athletes would have to be paid with Title 9 athletes being included. The minimum 'trust fund' buy-in works out to $6M. Although it is styled as a trust fund, players will receive money when in school. It's a ways from fruition but it will happen. And it will put pressure on schools like Arizona and UCLA with athletic departments deep in red ink. And also puts pressure on schools that do not want to be employers. Baker and the NCAA see the writing on the wall and more litigation coming. With the inclusion of Title 9 athletes, the plan could receive Congressional support and relief from actions by the NLRB and the lawyers. With 50% of the athletes required to be paid the easy remedy will be to eliminate several sports. One way or another, a Super League is coming.
  23. Penix won the Maxwell Award. But I think Daniels, in part because of the SEC factor, will win the Heisman. Several NFL draft gurus have moved Daniels to the 2nd QB taken behind Drake Maye and ahead of Williams. I don't see this happening.
  24. Yes, he's outstanding. Close to 15,000 pass yards to date and the winning drive against Texas was masterful. He stays healthy vs. Kansas and Oklahoma goes 11-1, plays Texas in the B12 title game, and wins and it would have been Oklahoma vying for the Final 4. Check out the metrics and there is a good case for 2-loss Oklahoma to be ranked above 2-loss Oregon (sorry), Missouri, Penn State, and Ole Miss. Based on the final rankings, Oklahoma had this season's best win over three Texas. Dillon is far more athletic than Rattler, much more elusive in the pocket, and far more accurate on downfield throws.
  25. The past, present, and future walk into a bar. It was tense. Man, things have changed and changed in a hurry. Give Reggie his Heisman back. And give Lincoln more bad pennies. You too Carol!
