And the Husky Hits Keep on Coming! Ryan Grubb to Join DeBoer
If Fisch gets the job he will likely bring QB Fifita and All-Pac WR Tre with him along with several other AZ starters. He leaves and a 30-day transfer window opens at AZ. With what he has done in 3 seasons in Tucson, I hope he stays there.

1st Round 2024/25 Playoff Games Could be Chilly and Wet
Looking at the video from Buffalo I can understand why today's NFL Wild-Card game has been moved to Monday. It got me thinking about how bad the weather could be for a 2024/25 first-round CFB playoff game in Ann Arbor, Columbus, and Madison, Wisconsin. Wear your long johns and bring a hand warmer and a pint of the creature. For that matter, how bad could things be in Seattle and Eugene? It never rains in Autzen Stadium but in December there are more than a few of what the Irish call 'soft days. Hoping for a 2024/25 1st round bye but a 1st round home game in Autzen? I'd be happy to deal with the weather. With a 12-team PO in 2023/24, Oregon would have hosted Missouri.

Michigan's JJ McCarthy and Blake Corum Off to NFL, Can Harbaugh be Far Behind?
No surprise here but it's another B1G moment for the Ducks. It took Harbaugh 8 years to get Michigan into the 4-team Invitational and 10 years to win it all in a season where the SEC's 'best team' Georgia did not make the field. A difficult season for Bama that had more than its share of ups and downs leading in part to Saint Nick's retirement. JJ McCarthy is a late 1st round/ 2nd round NFL QB draft pick. Like at Stanford, Harbaugh's focus after a few unsuccessful Michigan standard seasons, returned to smash-mouth football. Caleb Williams free-lanced USC to an out-of-the-final AP top-25 finish. McCarthy who was playing through an injury late in the season, perfectly game managed Michigan to a title. The drive in the Rose Bowl to tie the game was epic. McCarthy was able to overcome a special teams meltdown and win the game. Would you rather have JJ or Joe Flacco? Harbaugh's gone. Most likely and I hope, to the Chargers. He is losing the core of the roster that defeated Ohio State 3 times in a row and won the title. His relationship with the Wolverines AD is chilly. And why stick around and have to deal with the NCAA? Will Sherron Moore, undefeated as an interim coach against Penn State, Maryland, and Ohio State be elevated to the top job? All of this cements my belief that Oregon and Ohio State, with the corps of its roster back and quality portal pickups, will be playing in the 2024 B1G champ game. In 2024, Michigan plays Texas, Oregon, and USC in Ann Arbor and trips to Seattle and Columbus. Like UW, Michigan will not be putting a 2023 B1G time Blue Chip Roster on the field in 2024. The Michigan roster in 2023 was 54% Blue Chip, 14 out of 16 teams with a BCR. Will it still be Blue Chip come 2024? The Ducks keep scoring by commission and omission.

Loyalty Goes Both Ways
Thank you, Sir Notalot. A very timely take. We live in a wired world. What you did for me yesterday, unfortunately, has little or no bearing on what are doing for me today. Especially, when you are being paid $10M a year to win football games. High expectations follow this kind of money. And with (un)Social Media, everyone from Mensa to cretin gets to toss in their 2 cents. I have no doubt whatsoever that Bama AD Greg Byrne reached out to DL, Sark, and likely Kiffin before hiring DeBoer. Nick's leaving resulted in new deals for Sark and Kiff. I also expect that Byrne spoke with Dabo's agent who told Byrne that Dabo is not leaving what he built at Clemson to try to maintain what Saban did at Bama. How can any coach improve upon Saban's record? Bama last suffered 3 losses in the 2010 season when The Tide went 10-3. Bama made the 4-Team Invitational in 8 out of 10 seasons. And the Bama schedule with OK and TX joining the SEC will only be more difficult. And Bam no longer plays 4 cupcakes OOC. In 2025 Bama plays both Wisconsin and FSU. Dabo resurrected the Clemson program doing it his way. Dabo the coach is not as great with an average QB instead of an NFL-ready QB. And the NFL-ready QBs had NFL-bound WRs to throw to. What's new? The concern I hear from Clemson fans down south here in South Carolina is whether Dabo's reluctance to pick the portal is hurting the program. After a 4-4 start, Clemson won 5 straight games, including a great bowl victory over Kentucky where 42 combined points were scored in the 4th quarter. Next season Clemson has the 'privilege' of opening against Georgia in Atlanta and trips to FSU. But I believe that Clemson will win the ACC and receive a 1st round playoff bye or make the field seeded somewhere between 5-11. Dabo walked on at Bama and went on to be an all-SEC DB. Thanks gain, Not.

A Few B1G Buckeye Thoughts
It would be great to bring in Bair. I think he will be spending the next 2 seasons on a mission, right?

A Few B1G Buckeye Thoughts
Ohio State's, Ryan Day, like Jim Harbaugh last season, is doing a great job of keeping Ohio State's draft-eligible players in Columbus. The projected 1st or 2nd round picks who are returning: are RB Treyvon Henderson; Edge: JT Tuimoloau and 2023 sack leader Jack Sawyer; WR Emeka Egbuka; and CB Denzel Burke. Oregon picked up the B12 2023 1st-team QB, Gabriel Dillon. Ohio State has 2nd-team QB, Will Howard, who finished ahead of Texas, Quinn Ewers, All-SEC RB, Quinshon Judkins from Ole Miss is also headed to Columbus. And Jim Harbaugh has announced that he will begin meeting with NFL teams next week. Ryan Day's record against B1G opponents is 39-3 with the 3 losses coming against Michigan. I think that in 2024, the Buckeyes will be on the same kind of crusade that Harbaugh and Michigan were on in 2023. The OOC slate is a breeze. Michigan visits Columbus. The toughest road game on paper looks to be the Buckeyes visit to Autzen. Not certain how the Midwest journalists will treat the 'Pac-4' but I believe that Oregon and Ohio State should be odds on to rematch in the 2024 B1G champ game in Indianapolis.

Wait...Jonathan Smith to Washington?
Who knows other than Jimmy Sexton these days? But Smith bringing Childs with him and reversing to UW? I do not see it. He's in the Power 2 with resources equal to UW. Jedd Fisch? And he brings Fifita and Tre with him?

The Lie Of College Football
Dan talks the talk and walks the walk. New deals already in the works for Sark and Kiff. DL? It is a Business that started with OK and UGA breaking up the NCAA's broadcast monopoly. NCAA Prez Baker relizes this which is why he's advocating for a sererate division for big time football programs. For once, the NCAA is ahead of the curb.

QUAAACK!!! Caldwell is a Duck!
Yep, Blount could pack a punch! (Sorry!) After seeing what Shraeder did this season at Mizzou, I'm waiting to see if Jay Morris, another RB transferring from a MO. D2 school, performs.

More Hits to the Huskies...and Humor!
USC? Probably would prefer Rogers to the QB coming over from UNLV?

Not for the Noble: Harrumphs at the Huskies!
Just a slight detour on the way from Fresno to Tuscaloosa. Is your car's GPS working?

QUAAACK!!! Caldwell is a Duck!
If this is a dream or a movie, please don't end! WOW!

IT'S OFFICIAL...HE GONE!
The Arizona Athletic Department is broke. $5 to $6M would likely lure Jedd Fisch to Seattle and the B1G. Fisch's Arizona team gave UW a heck of a battle in Tucson. But I'm sure the 'experts' will soon be out with more likely candidates. But Fisch is the guy, FWIW, that I'd go after.
-
IT'S OFFICIAL...HE GONE!
David, that's if he can re-recruit the roster. A 30-day transfer window just opened at Bama and UW. Think the poachers are headed to Tuscaloosa and going after guys in 2024's 2nd-rated class?
-
IT'S OFFICIAL...HE GONE!
The hire opens a 30-day transfer window at Bama and UW. All but 6 of Bama's 2024 recruits have enrolled. School is in session so the enrollees at Bama would have to use their one-time transfer waiver. I am not certain of the enrollee status at UW. I would think that a guy like QB Will Rogers may be having 2nd thoughts. Good luck replacing the guy with over 200 wins and 6 titles won at Bama. DeBoer does not lack confidence.
-
IT'S OFFICIAL...HE GONE!
Doc, WOW! What was the source for this dollar amount? Thanks.
-
IT'S OFFICIAL...HE GONE!
Week 3, Bama at Wisconsin, with Van Dyke playing QB for Wisconsin could be very interesting. DeBoer's 1st road test. Milroe is good but he will not blow the opposition away by throwing the ball. And Michigan exposed the UW and the Bama OLs. (The center who dribbled the ball back to Milroe in the Rose Bowl has transferred to Ohio State.) It will be interesting to hear from Paul Finebaum and his friends comes Monday.

IT'S OFFICIAL...HE GONE!
It excites me because that would be a playoff game. And will DB keep this signing class and draw anywhere near Saint Nick when it comes to recruiting? I doubt it. The happiest guy down South today has to be Kirby Smart. With Kiff and Sark not far behind.
-
IT'S OFFICIAL...HE GONE!
This is emblematic of the future and another example of Uncle Phil and Friends being so instrumental to Oregon's sports success. I do not think that UW had a prayer of matching the Bama offer. Even in a Power 2, there is a strata of true contenders and the 'other guys.' Jen Cohen without a big budget pulled this hire out of her hat. Next up if I were UW AD Troy Dannen, I'm going to take a long look at Liberty's Jamey Chadwell.

Dan Lanning Offers High-ceiling Outlook for Oregon Ducks' Football Future
High Ceiling? The folks at the B1G Network concur. Yesterday Dan Revsine, BTN lead announcer, and Jake Butt who won the Mackey Award when playing TE at Michigan and had a solid NFL career, agreed that Oregon football was the B1G 2024 front-runner if DL stayed in Eugene. He's back! The 2 guys also opined that with Dillon and Moore, the Ducks look to be in great shape this season and down the road.

ENJOY the DeBoer Saga!
Thanks for the post. I see this as a rationale POV.

Alabama Slides to Their 5th or 6th HC Choice?
Charles, great take. The only question I have is whether ND's Freeman is on Bama's list. I don't think the guy has distinguished himself in South Bend and if he doesn't get ND into a 12-team PO this season with a fairly easy schedule by Domer standards, I think he could be presented with a pink slip.

ENJOY the DeBoer Saga!
DeBoer is a terrific coach. His wins vs losses record is fantastic. But in the long run, I do not see DeBoer as a threat to Oregon. How did Saban turn Bama around? With unparalleled recruiting. Nick coached up the Jim's and Joe's but someone 1st had to bring the stud players to Bama. In 2 seasons of P4 recruiting, DeBoer has been average at best. How will he recruit in the shark tank that is the SEC? Harsin from Boise to Auburn was a huge mistake. DeBoer's UW team was blown out on both LOS by Michigan. The SEC is a much deeper LOS league than the B1G. Penix and the 3 top WRs are gone. The best guys on the OL and on the DL are gone. Where is the talent coming from to replace these guys? Not from the HS ranks and DL runs circles around BeBoer not only in recruiting but in portal picking. I hope he stays so Oregon can start getting payback in the last regular season game of 2024.

The Benefits of OBD Being B1G Members
OREGON has a stadium-size of 17 out of 18 B1G teams. Only Northwestern's stadium size is smaller than Autzen's. Expand without losing the enthusiastic crowd noise. And after that, build a hockey arena for an icy Puddles pond? Phil? One of these things is not like the other.
