Justin Herbert -- And the "WOW" Factor Continues
And I get to watch the Falcons! Bummer! 2019 - Should have ben a playoff team, won the semi and played for a tile. Only Dean Smith could hold down Michael Jordon and only Mario could hold down Justin. In your face McShade!

Is it Time to Break up the Pac-12?
The ACC is locked in with ESPN through 2036. The BIG and the SEC's next media deals come up for bid before the Pac-12., ESPN is paying $300M plus to take over from CBS as the SEC's primary broadcaster. CBS was paying $55M a year. I think FOX, 51% owner of the B1G network, will come large to be the exclusive media outlet for the B1G. After the new deals, every B1G and SEC team will be bringing in $70M+ a year. Pac-12? $35 to 40M. The Pac-12 decided to stand pat. I will not be surprised if the 'new B12' doesn't bring in more money than the Pac-12. The PAC-12 football wise is not 'an exclusive club.' 2 teams in the Pac-12 have the desire and the money to be big time, Oregon and USC. If these 2 and possibly UW, CU, Utah and ASU do not look at joining the 'new B12' I think they are making a serious mistake. What does GK have to sell? 0-5 in bowl games. A bunch of disinterested fan bases. Recruiting budgets outside of SC and Oregon that are less than every SEC team except Vanderbilt. Recruiting #s that are way behind the curve. The 'leaders' of many the Pac-12 school couldn't care less about CFB. It will be the Pac-12 very late at night. SC and Oregon should give an equal share to teams that spend peanuts of football compared to these 2? And the Pac-12 Network. JV compared to the big boys. Ohio State QB JS Stroud, from SoCal is right. Pac-12 fans compared to B1G fans just don't give a whip.

Is it Time to Break up the Pac-12?
YES! Before pledging media rights to the new deal Oregon and SC should get on the phone with Bob Bowlsby and see what kind of deal they make with the "New B12.' I respect Charles POV of course but SC and Oregon are the 2 schools with the money and the desire to compete at the highest level of CFB. IMO, the new commish already blew it by not expanding. I want Oregon in a conference where the administrations give a whip and fans show up for games. Should have added OK ST, TX Tech, Baylor, TCU, Houston, Kansas, K St and Iowa St. It's OK for Pac-12 teams to schedule Baylor and TCU but not OK to affiliate with these schools?

Oregon Football: Lanning Doing Work for Rousing Offseason
Mario did less with the talent of the roster than I imagined possible? He came close to destroying the brand,. He won a bad conference twice and got blown out by a Utah team with no where near the roster talent twice. I give him credit for recruiting and that's it. Happy to have Lanning on board. Like the staff. Now recruit like heck and make solid use of the portal. Michigan State was the champ of the Peach Bowl and Baylor won the Sugar Bowl because of the portal and upgraded coaching. Amazing turn around for both schools from 2020 to 2021.

What Is A Coaching Commitment?
I am most happy Mario is gone. He cane close to destroying the Oregon brand and his players were far too often not ready to play ball. He had the 12th best roster in the country and rarely had the team play close to this level. He had a losing record coming in and is 2 games over .500 going out. Recruiting champ and coaching clown. I like the Lanning hire and I like the coaching staff Lanning is putting together. CFB is a big business, Lanning gets a $9 to 10 M offer down the road from a Big/SEC teams he's gone. That's business. Today 2 teams in the Pac-12 are spending the money needed to compete at the highest level of CFB: USC and Oregon, with Utah close behind. The rest don't care and/or don't have the money. If this hire does not work out then Mullens most certainly has to be shown the door.

Would a Utah Win Have Saved the Pac-12?
NO, but bringing in OK ST, TX TECH, Baylor, TCU, Houston, KS, K ST and Iowa State may have?

IT'S UP TO THE UTES
Nor, the DBs.

IT'S UP TO THE UTES
That looked like an old WAC shoot out in the first half. 2nd half. Utah DL could get no pressure at all on Stroud. Hats off to the Utes back up QB for tying it up but you just knew the Buckeyes were going to run the clock and win. This from an Ohio State team missing 6 starters. Sorry, but I don't think Cincinnati would come close to beating Ohio State. Coming into 2022 Ohio State is loaded. Looks like Ohio State will finish #4 in the final AP Poll. Probably a good thing that UCLA didn't play NC ST. Nice comeback win by OK ST today. Nice blow out win over the Pirate win by Texas Tech. But not good enough for the 'exclusive club.'

No. 1 Alabama vs. No. 4 Cincinnati
Bama's RB set a single game rushing record. Bama owned both LOS and with the OL dominating Cincy's DL it smothered Cincy. Cincy was never in the game. The OK ST D is far better than this Cincy D. Cincy played a weak SOS and beat a ND team that had no top 25 wins. Expand the playoff? I prefer to go back to the BCS. Better yet go back to the 'old bowl system.' And why shouldn't younger guys be able to go pro. UGA TE Brock Bowers is a pro now. What will he gain out of two more seasons of CFB.
-
Lanning’s Bulldog Defense: I’m Impressed, Are You?
Hats off to Lanning and the UGA D but that quality of player will not be playing for Oregon in 2022. Coach 'em up guys = Cincinnati. Take the best talent in the country and make them better = Georgia. UGA ran the same D against Michigan that it ran against Bama in the SEC champ game. Bama has the Heisman Trophy winner playing QB, Michigan does not. Can Georgia get a team with equal talent, Alabama, off of its back? Other than for the game vs Bama, the UGA D manhandled teams like it did Michigan all season long. Not dinging Lanning's coaching but at UGA Dan was working with big time Jimmies and Joes.

IT'S UP TO THE UTES
The Pac-12 in the post season is 0 - FOR including a loss to an 8-4 MAC team. Hopefully, Utah will come through today. Lot of Ohio State guys have opted out but Ohio State will still have plenty of talent on the field. Interesting that a former Mountain West team may be the only Pac-12 team to win a bowl game. How low can you go?
-
Now...Do you think that Cincinnati Belonged?
247 Sports Team Talent Rankings: 1 Georgia 2 Alabama Coached up 3 stars will win the AAC but not a playoff title. The difference on the LOS vs Bama was obvious. Georgia was overconfident vs Bama and returned to play like UGA last night. UGA was the far more athletic team vs Michigan.

Georgia GameDay Thread--Let's Support Coach Lanning!
Guess what? Bama and UGA have bigger, stronger faster guys. I know, you are shocked. Why does anyone want to play a college football , so-called playoff against these semi pros? These 2 semi final games put the BOR into BORING. Then rest of the SEC has done nothing bowl wise. How about a B1G 12, PAC-12, B1G and ACC run for the Roses. It just means more for you SEC guys and a hell of a lot less for the rest of us .You can round up the best HS players; who gives w whip. THIS is where the BCS and BCS x 2 has led CFB; led a once great regional sport to southeast nirvana.

CJ Stroud: USC, UCLA "Just Kind of Boring"
Not in this greybeard's lifetime. Oregon guys McKay and Robinson did just fine at USC.

Duck Fan Frustration: NOW we See the Deep Ball?
Woody Hayes: 3 things can happen when you throw the ball and two of them are bad. Woody, say hello to Mario.

Caleb Williams Does Not 'COMMIT' TO Oklahoma
Post-game, Caleb said all the right things about Oklahoma and the new coaching staff. However, Caleb did not pledge to be back. He said that he and the family are taking a short vacation and taking time to think things over. My guess is that the vacation will be in the direction of Heritage Hall where awaits a big time NIL deal? This kid could make SC a viable contender in year one of Riley taking over the SC program. He far and away would be the best QB in the Pac-12. And if he portals to SC, others will likely follow.

Duck Fan Frustration: NOW we See the Deep Ball?
Where's it been? Right alongside the pre-Kiffin Alabama Playbook. You know, the Playbook Mario remembers but the one that Saint Nick and time forgot.

Canzano: Lanning Needs to Solve Oregon's "Identity Crisis"
Clemson did have a playoff worthy D this season. I expect a rebound in 2022. There is a real culture of family at Clemson and not the BS that passes for same at other schools including the so-called culture of Oregon under Mario.
-
Canzano: Lanning Needs to Solve Oregon's "Identity Crisis"
Thank you John Canzano for this obscure insight into the obvious. John, we're you not the noted expert who assured us that Mario would lead the Ducks to the Playoff? This is far too little and too late from Canzano. After year one of Mario, many of us knew that the man's zenith as a coach was a Rose Bowl appearance when the RB was a semi-final playoff site. Mario had a losing record when he was hired and leaves Eugene at 62-60. He is not 'going to grow' as a HC. His record is what he is. Hopefully with Lanning, Mullens is upping his game. He was ready to pay Mario close to $8M a year to continue to recruit like a champ and coach like a chump. Navy Seal reference is ironic because for us fans watching Mario's coaching, there was no easy day.
-
VERDICT: MC Throttled The Offense
He did not, can not and will not "grow" to be a better coach. So happy we will no longer have hear 'this' about a 62-60 head coach. Intentional? I doubt it but the man's coaching style on offense was on the way to totally destroying the Oregon brand. He can walk the recruiting walk but can only talk the coaching talk. Thank you Miami! So happy that Mario is MIA in Eugene. But I am also concerned that Mullens could not see what was happening right under his nose?
-
CJ Stroud: USC, UCLA "Just Kind of Boring"
If a Pac-12 team regularly made the final 4 and routinely sent a bevy of guys on to the pros the recruits would stick around the fans would fill the stadium. When Carroll was at SC, Trojans football was the hottest ticket in town. Win and fans will follow. Not every B1G and SEC game is a sell out. Not every B1G stadium rivals the Shoe in intensity. Having said this CJ, I'm looking forward to you going 0-2 vs the Pac-12 this season.

Running Back Room Filled: Credit Mastro?
I think Justin Hopkins needs to check into Johns Hopkins?

Congrats Young Ducks, and Oklahoma!
The best thing I saw was the team play hard to the end of the game. The young team did not give up at all in terms of effort.

Congrats Young Ducks, and Oklahoma!
My friend, praise you . You are the ultimate Duck fan. IMO after the first series when Brown threw a pick it should have been next young guy up? Brown played like Brown. A predictable O accompanied by a beat up D. Being coached by guys that soon are going to leave. Of course OK deserved to win the game. The Sooners was the far better team on the field. Especially at QB. Nice rally, but too late to matter. The war had been won.
