  1. Met with a DUCK Buddy at the gym this morning. We were both sad but resigned to the change. Media drives everything. Oregon State has a team this year that is a threat to anyone. They sure beat us last year. Washington State especially under Mike Leach could compete but both these universities have very small media markets and they will probably be relegated to the Mountain West or similar and both be attacked and decimated by the Transfer Portal. I care less about Stanford and Cal.

They are resident in a big media market but no one at either university, from admin to students to alumni care about football and the smaller sports especially Title 9 are going to suffer. They each will be raided for their current talent.  I will stick around to see how this all shakes out but I am going to surely miss the tradition and rivalries. GO DUCKS!

  2. What happens to Cal and Stanford? It has appeared to me for years that the administrations, students and alumni at both universities do not care about football. Maybe they drop the sport. While I would love for Oregon State and Washington State to join us in the B1G, that is not likely. I sure hope they both get into the BIG 12.

  3. I did not see a dedicated thread for this movie. Just streamed it from Amazon Prime. Quite an excellent movie. Phil Knight played by Ben Affleck. Sonny Vaccaro played by Matt Damon. Viola Davis playing Michael Jordans mother is powerful. Capturing Michael Jordan as a Nike client put Nike over the top. You of course know the end result but the movie is still suspenseful. I really enjoyed this and it was historically nice to see photo's of Steve Prefontaine on the wall in the Nike Headquarters.

  4. I posted something about this a few months ago. I read a good article that said that streaming games last year typically were running around 45 seconds to one minute behind the actual action on the field. This keeps bugging me knowing the game might be over while I am watching the final play. Anyone else?

  5. Yesterday evening at dinner in Ashland prior to getting our fill of Shakespeare, we are sitting next to a young man with his young son and they are both decked out in Texas Tech jackets and hats. We had a friendly discussion but I certainly did not wish him well on September 9th! I will say that he was knowledgeable and confident about their chances.
