  1. I can't remember which coach said it, I think it was Bellotti, but their assertion was one of the most important jobs a coach has is to manage expectations. Confidence about potential with a huge dose of reality about the challenges a team must overcome keeps coaches employed and fans with the right frame of mind. The only source I will turn to for my expectations will be the words directly from the coaches.
  2. Thank you for posting this Duck1984. This explains a lot of the I can feel but can't put my finger on what the issue is sense I had throughout this past season. This leadership style/culture coupled with the distraction of a potential new job helps explain, at least for me, the erratic product we saw on the field this year. For instance, one has to wonder if Morehead was an unattached outsider? All it would take would be for anyone associated with the team to think or feel they were unattached and dysfunction of some sort would likely ensue.
  3. There is no doubt MC started talking to Miami after the Ohio State game perhaps even before. Of course the talking was all orchestrated by Jimmy Sexton so Mario could deny involvement but the product he put on the field this year was not the product of his undivided attention.
  4. Couldn’t agree more. I feel like a chump right now because I bought his act hook line and sinker. Even after he did an event in PDX before his first season where my predominant thought was he throws out a bunch of buzzwords…I sure hope he can back them up. He has a bunch of ‘splainin and fence mending to do if he stays.
  5. Completely disagree with statement “if in doubt it’s a foul”. Watch the SEC…50/50 calls almost always (90% of the time) go to the higher ranked team. There is so much money on the line.
  6. Charles, if you are nothing else you are definitely consistent. You presented the same opinion before the season and continued it after the season. This makes you a good man. I wish the professional pundits would do the same. A few thoughts to consider: 1) A one point victory is all you need no matter who you play. Probably requires a top 10 defense. 2) Mario is so focused on out muscling opponents he will never care about 40 points. 3) The final touch has not been added to Mario’s rebuild. A QB who can consistently make the right reads and take what the offense makes available. 4) Injuries and player departures are a bigger issue than we think. I am a proponent of 3. I also would like the Ducks to hire a dedicated QB coach. The way I look at Mario is he is progressing through Saban’s approach and the explosiveness in offense is the final piece of the puzzle.
