Dad past yesterday. We’d gone to games at Autzen every year from 1980 until I left for college…and then always talked after games. For all of you that’s been here; I’m feeling ya.

Part a; At some point between 2 & 3 I remembered the sordid history of how the PCC shed OSU, WSU and UO to become the AAWU in ‘59…then finally the PAC 8, in 1964. Basically the bigs cheated, got busted…quit and formed their own lil’ conference of cheaters….leaving Oregon and Oregon State in independent purgatory…which took the Rich Brooks tenure to recover from.. Conclusion- “Screw the Pac-whatever” part b: the west coast conference made sense in 1915 because we were geographically isolated in the late fall and early winter as travel was restrictive unless going north-south. God bless the turbofan engine…that isn’t the case now. We’ve just been self isolating by time zone. Time to end it! part c…the Big 1G media and aggregate fan base have NO CLUE what they just let in…lolz

Instead, she saw Duck fans cheering for him as he headed for the tunnel. Nix was given a home away from home to hone his craft. That stuff matters, even to DL. Thoughts on this: Had the Fuskies done what is good and propper for them to do, and lose to Oregon, FSU would be in the CFP…and Oregon….Likely playing Liberty in the Fiesta Bowl?! Liberty, and schools like it (Hillsdale/George Fox/ect) are surging for good reason (classical liberal arts/great books) and their athletics are probably going to follow . In 10 years this may not look like punching down. Think Notre Dame past. Was Pepperdine ever good? This coaching staff are a class act and the team reflects that. The future looks awesome. I can’t get the image of the football bouncing off the zebra out of my mind.

Dad flew with Russ back when they were both renting out of the old McKenzie Flying Service. Neither were slight of build. Apparently well loaded Cessna 150s have exciting stall characteristics. I remember Russ later showing up at Mahlon Sweet with his P-51 and thinking “Eugene kids can do things!”. Godspeed Russ, and thank you!

It used to be that if you racked up 3-4 violations in a 24 hour period you’d get a phone call and then get to talk football with Mr. Fischer for an hour or so. Which was cool, but awkward explaining to the wife. Heart and Soul, Charles!!....thats what made this site. But, that level of dedication can’t be maintained indefinitely....nor should it be necessary. The new system should be more than adequate.
