Ducks make statement in series-opening win at Arizona Jace Stoffal and Austin Anderson combined for a dominant performance on the mound and Oregon exploded for 21 hits in a 15-3 Pac-12 Conference win at Arizona on Friday night at Hi Corbett Field. Stoffal allowed just three runs (two earned) on five hits with five strikeouts and two walks before giving way to Anderson who fanned four in two scoreless innings of work. ROSS, MCCLAIN HIGHLIGHT DAY ONE IN STANFORD Jaida Ross picked up a win in the shot put Friday at the Stanford Invitational while sophomore Harper McClain added her name to the UO top-10 list in the steeplechase. Collectively, the Ducks also posted two season-best efforts and three runner-up finishes. In the invitational section of the event, Ross recorded a day's best of 17.29m/56-8.75 on her fourth spin around the ring. She led a 1-2 UO finish with sophomore Mine De Klerk (15.76m/51-8.5) in her first meet of the outdoor season. Both are scheduled to return Saturday for the discus. Ross was a two-time NCAA finalist last outdoor season including a fifth-place finish in the shot put; was ninth in the discus.
