  3. 2024 Oregon Football Recruiting Class Tracking the latest names committed to play for Dan Lanning and the Ducks. After signing the Pac-12's top recruiting class in 2023, Dan Lanning and the Oregon Ducks are looking to raise the standard in his second full recruiting cycle as head coach in Eugene. The 2023 recruiting class was very heavy on defensive players, so we could see the trend switch and favor an emphasis on offense in 2024. To see the listing/info of commits in the 2024 class so far, click here to read in Ducks Digest.
  4. 'Of course we want him:' Mookie Cook is trying hard to recruit Bronny James to Oregon One of the most high-profile but sparsely covered recruitments in the last decade of college basketball is currently taking place, and the Oregon Ducks have found their way into the middle of it. 4-star guard Bronny James, the son of NBA legend LeBron James, has yet to decide where he is going to play his college ball. He reportedly narrowed down his list to three schools — Oregon, the home of Nike; Ohio State, the home of his father; USC, his current home — but outside of a visit to Columbus for a football game between the Buckeyes and Notre Dame Fighting Irish last year, there haven’t been any reported visits to note for the prodigal son, ranked by 247Sports as the No. 33 player in the 2023 class. His recruitment has an air of secrecy surrounding it, and many in the business have said that in order to try and speak to the athlete, or even members of his circle, you have to go through several layers of barriers first. Oregon Recruiting: Mookie Cook is recruiting Bronny James to Oregon DUCKSWIRE.USATODAY.COM Add Oregon signee Mookie Cook to the long list of people trying to recruit Bronny James to join the Ducks.
  5. The NCAA Football Oversight Committee is expected to introduce new “non-controversial legislation” to the Division I Council next month, according to a report this week by Pete Thamel. A pitch for changes to the calendar and other factors involving recruiting is expected to be introduced within the next two weeks, Thamel explained. Since the adoption of the Early Signing Period several years ago and college football's rapidly growing transfer portal, coaches and staffs have no offseason when it comes to recruiting — and little time to breathe, between the end of the regular season in December, with important dates on the recruiting calendar. Under the proposed new rules, coaches would be able to contact prospective recruits nearly a year earlier in their high school careers than previously and speak with them after spring practice and prior to summer break, among other changes. Pete Thamel will break down each of the proposed changes for you in the article... 6. These are the schools reaching out to former Oregon C Kel'el Ware The news broke on Monday morning that Oregon Ducks freshman center Kel’el Ware would be entering the transfer portal and leaving Eugene after one season. This was relatively expected, and be it through the portal or via the NBA Draft, not many people would have confidently told you that Ware would be in Eugene again for a second season in 2023. However, because of his high profile — Ware was a 5-star recruit and the No. 7 overall player in the 2022 recruiting class — the move has made some waves in the college basketball world. Ware is now one of the most coveted players available in the transfer portal, and there are already a number of top-end teams making contact and trying to get the 7-foot center to join their team. According to On3’s Joe Tipton, these are the schools that have reached out so far: Oregon Basketball: Kel’el Ware is a hot commodity in transfer portal DUCKSWIRE.USATODAY.COM Kel’el Ware is a popular name in the transfer portal, with a number of high-profile teams already reaching out.
  7. Watch: 4-star Oregon target Bronny James impresses at McDonald's dunk contest The Oregon Ducks 2023 signing class is already incredibly impressive as is, with a pair of 5-star commits — Kwame Evans and Mookie Cook — and 4-star PG Jackson Shelstand set to join the team in the coming months. There’s a chance that class could get even better, as well. 4-star guard Bronny James, the son of NBA legend LeBron James, yet to announce his commitment. He has the Ducks listed as one of his final schools, and will likely take a visit to Eugene in the coming months. On Monday night, James got to show off a bit of his athleticism at the McDonald’s All-American Game dunk contest, where he displayed the family genes well. 8. Ducks have reportedly shown interest in intriguing transfer portal option Already we have seen a couple of players — Tyrone Williams and Kel’el Ware — announce that they would be leaving Eugene and searching for a new team going forward. Neither of those announcements came as a major surprise, and more people are expected to leave the Ducks this offseason as well. In turn, we can absolutely expect to hear some names of players transferring to Oregon as well. Already, Jadrian Tracey has announced that he will join the Ducks in 2023, coming from Florida Southwestern State. There are other players who the Ducks have shown interest in as well. The latest player is former Northern Colorado player Dalton Knecht, according to a report from CBB writer Sean Paul. Knecht is an elite scorer who averaged 20.2 points per game last season. 9. Report: Ducks show interest in Washington State transfer TJ Bamba The transfer portal is starting to heat up in the world of college basketball, and it looks like the Oregon Ducks are starting to get active. On Monday, Dana Altman and his team learned that former 5-star center Kel’el Ware intended to enter the transfer portal instead of declaring for the 2023 NBA Draft, which came not long after Tyrone Williams announced that he would do the same. It was expected that Oregon would lose a handful of players via the portal this offseason, but it’s also expected that they will make a few additions as well. One of those potential additions became available on Monday. Former Washington State guard TJ Bamba announced that he would enter the portal and look for a new team. Not long after, a report came out that the Ducks had already shown interest in Bamba and reached out to the Pac-12 player, trying to keep him in the conference. 16. Social Media Buzz: Oregon fans react to Kel'el Ware entering the transfer portal After coming to Eugene as a 5-star prospect, rated No. 7 in the 2022 class, It’s fair to say that Ware’s season with the Ducks was not as prolific as some expected. Ware played just 15.8 minutes a game, averaging 6.6 points and 4.1 rebounds per game. He was projected to be an NBA Lottery pick early on in the year, but as the season went on, his draft stock fell with the lack of production. Part of that was because of the personnel on the team — N’Faly Dante and Nate Bittle also compete for those minutes on the post, and both had more production than Ware. I wonder if this could mean that N'Faly Dante is returning? 17. WNIT quarterfinal exit sends Oregon into important offseason After a disappointing 2022-23 season came to an unceremonious conclusion in Seattle on Sunday, the Ducks will enter an important offseason with a roster that remains in flux. The only thing known for certain is that three seniors have played their final games. Taya Hanson, Ahlise Hurst and Taylor Hosendove have exhausted their eligibility and will not be playing basketball collegiately after Sunday's 63-59 loss to Washington in the WNIT quarterfinal round. That leaves the seven remaining players with decisions to make. The most prominent and urgent decision belongs to Endyia Rogers, who has until Tuesday night (per reporting from OregonLive's James Crepea) to decide if she wants to enter the WNBA Draft or not. Rogers could also chose to use the NCAA's extra season at Oregon or go elsewhere. WNIT quarterfinal exit sends Oregon into important offseason 247SPORTS.COM Here's a rundown of some things to be aware of as Oregon's 2023 offseason gets underway this week.
  18. Former top-10 prospect Kel'el Ware to enter transfer portal, leave Oregon Oregon freshman Kel'el Ware, the No. 7 overall prospect out of the 2022 class and former McDonald's All American, will enter the transfer portal and has no intention of entering the 2023 NBA Draft, he tells 247Sports. “I am incredibly thankful for my freshman season at Oregon," said Ware. "Sincere thanks to Coach Altman and the entire coaching staff for believing in me and helping me grow, both as a player and person. I will take the lessons that I have learned on and off the court this season into this next chapter. And to Ducks Nation and most importantly, my teammates: thank you for embracing me into the Oregon family.” The Ducks’ seven-footer was projected as a late first round pick after a rocky season in Eugene but rather than enter the NBA Draft in 2023, he is taking another year of college to further elevate his stock and will do so for a new college program. 20. 5 wings the Oregon Ducks should pursue in the transfer portal Of all the positions for the Oregon Ducks to feel okay about looking ahead to the 2023-24 season, forward/wing is the top of the list. Although it is not clear whether Quincy Guerrier or Rivaldo Soares will return next season, they will retain Jermaine Couisnard and of course add a pair of elite freshmen in Mookie Cook and KJ Evans. Still, things can certainly change, and if either Guerrier or Soares were to hit the portal or pursue professional opportunities then Dana Altman might want to see what the portal has to offer on the wing. Perhaps a transfer addition at that spot would be more of a depth option, a three point shooter or defensive stopper off the bench, but if Altman can get some of the big fish they could add an impact starter and push someone into a depth role – which is never a bad thing to have when trying to get back into the big dance. Below are five options on the wing, who would each fit a different role, that Altman and his team should purse this transfer season: 5 wings the Oregon Ducks should pursue in the transfer portal DUCKSWIRE.USATODAY.COM The Oregon Ducks are getting KJ Evans and Mookie Cook next season, but if Quincy Guerrier or Rivaldo Soares leave, they...

Oregon was denied multiple opportunities to take a lead before the late surge by UCLA, leaving multiple runners on base in the second, fourth, fifth, and sixth innings before Brady ultimately put her foot down with her lead-seizing two-run homer.
