Erik Skopil is writing a series of articles regarding the Ducks various position groups. Those articles in that series will be posted here. His first article is below. The state of Oregon's QB room as the 2023 roster remains in flux There isn't a lot to say here. Nix didn't return to Oregon for 2023 to sit on the pine, and no one can argue with a straight face that he should. This does feel like a massive offseason and fall for Thompson though. A third full year of college should be enough for the borderline five-star recruit to exhibit some of the promise that made him one. Austin Novosad is already enrolled and on campus for the start of the spring quarter. The jump start to the collegiate process allows him to take part in spring football where he'll compete with Thompson to be the team's No. 2 QB. QUAAACK: Sheldon QB Brock Thomas is a Duck
Pennsylvania Duck replied to Pennsylvania Duck's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Ducks land commitment from in-state QB Brock Thomas On Sunday night, it was announced that 3-star QB Brock Thomas, a senior at Sheldon, was committing to Oregon. It’s unclear whether he is joining the Ducks as a preferred walk-on or not, but with Bo Nix, Ty Thompson, and Austin Novosad already on the scholarship count, it’s not crazy to presume that. Oregon Recruiting: Ducks land in-state QB Brock Thomas DUCKSWIRE.USATODAY.COM The Ducks added hometown QB Brock Thomas to the roster, keeping the Sheldon Irish passer in town. Oregon women’s basketball falls in overtime after back-and-forth battle with Washington State “I personally thought we won the game a long time ago because (Hurst) hit the three and it should have been their ball with however much time was left,” Rogers said. Rogers stole another inbound pass with 12.8 seconds left in overtime. Oregon’s final attempt to win was for Rogers to shoot off a ball screen, but she chose to pass rather than force a potential game-winning shot against multiple defenders, and Te-Hina Paopao’s jumped was off the mark. Comeback Bid Ends In Heartbreak The No. 21 Ducks (13-5, 4-3 Pac-12) fell behind by 10 in the first quarter, rallied to lead by 10 in the third, then fell behind by as many as 14 in the fourth. Endyia Rogers made a three-pointer with 4 seconds left in regulation to get the Ducks within two, then stole the ensuing inbounds pass and kicked to Hurst for the apparent game-winner. Though that shot wasn't to be, VanSlooten's clutch free throws extended the game into overtime, where a three-pointer by Paopao with 19 seconds left and a WSU turnover gave the Ducks a look at a game-winner that didn't fall. "I had 33; it wasn't enough," Rogers said when asked about her individual performance. "I missed a free throw, a couple open shots. It just was not enough. I had 33, but we still lost." Oregon center Phillipina Kyei missed game's conclusion due to possible concussion Oregon center Phillipina Kyei missed the fourth quarter and overtime because she had been placed in concussion protocols, Oregon coach Kelly Graves said. Kyei lay on the court for a few minutes after a collision with Washington State's Grace Sarver with about four to play in the first half. She had appeared to take a shot to the face while defending Sarver, who lowered her shoulder and placed the center on the ground. Play was stopped and Kyei was substituted out. “We struggled inside," Graves said. "It’s just one of those nights. It did hurt that Philli was limited.” Oregon center Phillipina Kyei missed game's conclusion due to possible concussion 247SPORTS.COM Oregon center Phillipina Kyei missed game's conclusion due to possible concussion

Ducks admit frustration over end-of-regulation clock operator error “I personally thought we won the game a long time ago," Rogers, who scored a game-best 33 points, told the press after the overtime defeat. "If she hit the three then it should have been their ball with however much time was left." Oregon coach Kelly Graves felt similarly about the clock operator error, telling reporters he didn't understand why the official wouldn't allow the game to continue before reviewing the timing issue.
