Despite their team's obvious weaknesses and Caleb's own tendency to abandon self control he remains a dangerous opponent.

SC has the offensive weapons to make the Ducks pay by scoring points.....utah and cal did not!
This game will be close until the entire Duck team breaks the trojans spirit.
This will require the Ducks to execute at the highest level for 60 minutes.
Nothing less than the Ducks best game in 2023 will be needed to close out the trojans title hopes.
I'm in agreement with you. Williams is probably the most dangerous scorer in the conference. He has done a lot to carry that team on his back with their weak defense. He's kept them in many games.
The Ducks can't afford a slow start and have to avoid the kind of drive-killing penalties I've seen lately. Take the Trojans out of contention early and don't let up.

The ‘23 Ducks have waaaaaaaay more depth. It’s not even close.
Agree, with one exception: QB.
We've seen how that can play out more than once.

I've been impressed with Arizona's QB Fifita. He's a fighter and has been no-quit in every game I've seen him in. I think he was the back-up going into the season. Not anymore. The Wildcats are a good team. Nice to see them succeed.

And hats off to the Heisman winner who did not stick around to congratulate the other team including a 2-star QB who engineered the win.
That behavior speaks volumes. Character reveals itself in so many ways.

I've previously said that Caleb is the most dangerous scorer in CFB. Lots of talent in that kid.
But he lacks the maturity we see in countless others players at this level. I'm no therapist but he wears his emotions on his sleeve and without self-control he's apt to follow those emotions into all kinds of trouble, not just on the field but off it.
If I were an NFL GM I'd stay away.

Sorry I missed the after-game between Prime and the media. Furd's come from behind win was impressive and entertaining. E.Ayomanor, Stanford's primary receiver was nothing short of sensational and largely responsible for the comeback.
-
All that talk about CO flashy Hunter. He was very good for most of the game but he ended up pretty much the goat. The Stanford receiver caught a touchdown pass right off the back of Hunter's helmet. Classic.

Caleb Williams is the most dangerous scorer in college football. Fortunately, USC's defense isn't very good. We'll find out.

USC screwed up the chip field goal. OT.

USC/AZ is a very interesting game right now. Wildcats are really taking it them 17-7 right now.
The Wildcats are a scrappy bunch. Despite Caleb's best efforts, Zona just tied it up: 28-28. Fifita has no quit in him and I'm pulling for them.

Penix is good. He's a quick decision maker who gets rid of the ball quickly. He's deadly accurate, too. That could pose problems for our pass rushers. He also has a bunch of good receivers who snag whatever comes their way. That could pose problems for our secondary.
However Arizona's QB, Fifita ( sp?), lit them up with quick, accurate passes. The Wildcats almost pulled off a win with a gritty performance.
Both teams last night also showed me a lot of speed. They look quicker and faster than the Ducks. More than anything else, that worries me.

Penix is quick and accurate with his passes. But I'm really impressed with the Arizona squad. They are a feisty and capable bunch. Don't anyone sleep on them.

and last December I listed a bunch in a pinned post, owned up to them, and apologized to affected parties.
Charles, get with the program. Don't you know, people don't really apologize today. Their publicists and pr hacks issue something for them. Man, are you out of touch.

Uptempo is trying to wear down the D.

This has become a dogfight. We're about to learn how much fight the Ducks have in them. The last few minutes have shown me they can win this sucker.

Bo is carrying the team on his back right now.

This has become hard to watch.
TT is making this look easy. Too easy. Caught flatfooted on that last pass. Not sure if the OL or the Defense is the more disappointing.

Historical footnote: Wisconsin’s loss to us was deja vu. It was identical to their 1963 Rose Bowl loss to USC when their QB Ron Vander Kelen ran out of time on his way to winning the game.
Wow, blast from the past: watching Ron Vander Kelen in that game was eye-opening for me. You had to pull for the kid as he kept passing and fighting. I was sorry to see him lose. But that game, more than any other up to that time, provided a terrific example of the power of the passing game. RIP Ron.

Best contest of the weekend in my opinion. Travis, the FSU QB seems highly capable. FSU could grab the conference championship and go further.

With all due respect I cannot understand how the Ducks could have done anything more to perform up to their #15 ranking. If you're referring to allowing one TD in 60 minutes of football while likewise scoring 11 yourself then I remain confused. PSU isn't without some good players and they always come motivated to play.
I'd point out the fact that Oregon had 0 offensive penalties the entire 1st half and only two penalties total for the entire game while scoring on every offensive possession but one in a 13 possession game. What more could a team do than outscore their opponent by 74 points while playing 25 Freshmen and virtually all the 2's and 3's for most of the entire 2nd Half? I'm flabbergasted by your observation.
Would you mind explaining yourself?
Putting up 81 points on a cupcake just doesn't pack the wallop of getting into a real dogfight and winning. I certainly don't yet have a fix on just how capable the Ducks are. Maybe you do.

Not sure Texas Tech's pre-season ranking was all that accurate. But I also didn't see the Ducks perform up to their ranking against a pretty overwhelmed team like PS. This coming contest will be a game.
However from what I saw last night, we are nowhere near as ready as the Seminoles. They look like they're headed into the upper rankings, possibly to the playoffs if they can keep performing the way they handled LSU. Lots of talent. Their QB, Travis, is one gifted player, comfortable throwing any ball. I understand he's played in a ton of games, and he sure looked it: head and shoulders better than any other QB I saw this early in the season. FSU is back and ready.
The Ducks will need to perform at higher level just to get through the PAC 12 this year. Lots of tough tests ahead.

One of the things that impressed me so much about Marcus Mariota was the way he conducted himself on the field. I can think of few highly talented athletes who combined their athletic gifts and accomplishments with behavior that was exemplary in its honest humility.

As a Duck fan I have great respect for the football Utes, their players and their coach. They represent the Pac 12/10 with class. And whenever they went up against any team except the Ducks I would inevitably find myself pulling for them and rooting for them. Cameron may not make it in the NFL and he may be clear-eyed enough to realize that possibility. So the college game is IT for him and I wish him well. Hope he recovers from his injury and comes back with all the fight he has always displayed.

My Oregon Football Fantasy: Can We Hold This Moment?

Agreed. But teams can only play the teams they are scheduled to play.
