Got Comcast/Xfinity? Watch Out for the Newest Scam!
tee duke replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
When I get a spoof call with an originating town showing I answer as if I'm the dispatcher at that town's police department. Gone in a heartbeat. -
At this point in the season injuries can play a big part in outcomes. That list of injured Ducks worries me, especially after seeing how the team performed against Maryland.

2024 Oregon - Purdue Post-Game Reports, Interviews, Etc.

Glad for the win. Not having Ferguson proved no problem. But I am concerned about our red zone game, especially down near the goal line. -
New AP Poll - Ducks Stay at No. 9 - Kind of A Crime!
tee duke replied to Jon Joseph's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
So do I. They were dominant in the trenches and their offense did a great job. Frankly I was shocked at how overpowered GA looked through most of the game. They're lucky not to have dropped further in the poll. -
I was unable to watch the game and hearing it online sucked so all I could do was watch the game thread comments and follow along. Not a very good substitute. But from what I saw last week and read yesterday I'd say we are facing a legitimate test of coaching ability. Does DL have what it takes to straighten out what is an underperforming team, with obvious weaknesses in the OL and what appear to be play calling issues? With the self-induced optimism based on the recruiting success the Ducks have had, it surely hasn't translated into what all of us here expected of the team. As far as I'm concerned, that's on the head coach. He's the one collecting the big bucks and he's done a great job of selling us on the potential greatness of the team. But so far that has not translated into anything close to what we expected on the field. Blame it on the position coaches if you want to but from my perspective this is bigger than that. Dan has an opportunity, no, a responsibility, to fix this. And that had better happen fast. Or this season is going to look ugly.

If that wasn't a wake up call I don't know what is. Vandals appear solid, especially up front. They came close to knocking off the Ducks and brought the team back down to earth. They pressured Dillon the entire game thus so many short throws, even way short of the yardage needed. I sure hope this was a combination of a makeshift O Line and costly penalties and miscues—all soon to be corrected. Or we will be way out of the top 25 and unable to claw our way back.

I'm with you, Aug. And it isn't just the coaches. Even players mostly manage to say nothing or say the same yada, yada, yada. But with the players I try to get a fix on their personality. Are they enjoying what they do? Do they look confident? I wish that we could have more of the players talk about their team mates, not just themselves ... and see whether their eyes light up at some of the things other players are able to do.

The Sky Has Fallen? How it Happens for Oregon…
tee duke replied to FishDuck Article's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
There are no givens in football The Ducks are facing a long stretch of competitive play in the B1G. I also fear the obvious powers, tOSU, Michigan, Wisconsin, as well as Maryland. The last is no slouch. That long schedule will wear down players, force injuries, and place an emphasis on having a Plan B. Prayer will help. -
Peyton has a way of making l-o-n-g range 3s. As he did last night in the last second of the Celtic's first half. From beyond half-court he hit a bomb in what became another lopsided win for the Celtics and the 2024 NBA Championship Title. Peyton's a reliable back-up on the team and I was thrilled when he drilled that baby. .

RIP Bill Walton - Dead of Cancer at Age 71
tee duke replied to Jon Joseph's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Just heard the news about his passing. Bill was an original who left his unique mark on the sports so many of us love. There's going to be a rather large empty space in our lives now that isn't likely to ever be filled. -

Delenda est. Actually, the PAC 2bies have destroyed themselves. -
Kim, If we were truly powerful we would end all pain and suffering and wipe away sickness from the Earth. But we're only human. The best we can do is pray. In a way Charles' post and the others here are really prayers, heartfelt prayers from fellow travelers and fans bound together by a common interest. Always appreciated your contributions and would like nothing more than to see you back here among friends soon.

So How Good Was Jedd Fisch at Recruiting?
tee duke replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Fisch is a low-key coach compared to so many others who seem to fly toward the spotlight. His team certainly played hard for him. And I have great respect for Noah Fifita, his QB, who outperformed so many others. There's nothing quite like the feeling of having opponents you can respect, even as you thrash them. -

Have to hand it to Michigan. It was close for a time but too many miscues on the Huskie's part. -
Sugar Bowl Thread: Washington vs. Texas
tee duke replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Penix is a magician with the ball. Deadly accurate and the fastest release I've seen. His receivers haven't gotten much separation—but it doesn't seem to matter. -
Have to agree with Dr Jacks Plaid Pants about Schraeder. He should have been named Offensive MVP.

Arizona Clawing the Sooners in the Alamo Bowl
tee duke replied to tee duke's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Best bowl game so far. Low key Jedd Fisch has done a great job with that team. And the Adams/Fifita comparison is apt. Arizona is the little engine that could. I wish them well in their new conference. -
I like the Wildcats. They are a scrappy team and they're putting away the Sooners at the moment. Cashing in on a bunch of turnovers. Their linemen aren't as big as the Sooners'. But they have no quit in them. And their QB, this Fifita kid can take teams apart with his ability to pass in the craziest positions. This is one helluva good bowl game. Arizona's coach has done a great job with a team that doesn't have a whole bunch of top stars.

Ducks Face the Liberty Flames on Jan. 1
tee duke replied to anyotherduck's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Just saw the matchup. Pardon me while I go and throw up. -
I don't pretend to be an expert. I hesitate to criticize the players who must feel awful after what happened on the field. Mike West pointed to a number of examples where the coaching made a huge, call it near-insurmountable, difference. And to lose by a mere 3 miserable points, that tells me that this team could have walked away the winner. The first quarter brought back awful memories of the game against Georgia last year and that painful loss in what may have been the Alamo Bowl a few years back as the other team took the Ducks apart after we had an early lead. I'm sure some in the large national audience watching Friday's game might also have recalled those two games as they watched the Ducks' wheels fall off in that nightmare first quarter. It's a bad look that Oregon will have to shake going forward—in addition to winning.

I'm no pop psychologist but Penix remains a dangerous threat at QB. He releases the ball fast which is tough on pass rushers and had been known for his accuracy, which has suffered lately. Our coverage of his receivers will be key to limiting the dawgs' passing attack. Their run game isn't going to beat the Ducks D, provided we don't get suckered by something like that little trick play that bought them mucho yards at the end of their last game.
