  1. In light of all the so-called rumors going on, I thought this was an interesting cynical take of what college football is turning into. I know it's from our hated dogs up North. But... What Should the UW Do For a Conference? Here's a Super Idea The future, at least for college football, looks preordained. https://www.si.com/college/washington/football/what-should-the-uw-do-for-a-conference-heres-a-super-idea

  3. Wow, talking about calling the kettle black. TROJANSWIRE off base in their so-called speculations that not necessarily are true, but they could be? So let's play the innocents card while throwing shade towards Oregon and Washington on the demise of the Pact-12. Suggesting that Oregon's only hope to get into the Big Ten is for the Pac-12 to perish. One statement you could possibly take away from this article to be more truth than fiction is this..."George Kliavkoff’s game theory and his calibration of priorities and first tasks was simply horrible throughout this process. That is not speculation. That’s a fact, Jack." How Oregon and Washington might have fooled George Kliavkoff and the Pac-12 Oregon might have been playing the long game with the Pac-12 TROJANSWIRE.USATODAY.COM Was @Ducks_Wire playing the “long con” the whole time with Kliavkoff and the #Pac12? Let’s talk. #GoDucks #B1G
  4. Colorado's return to the Big 12 is more of a bandage than a long-term solution Colorado retuning to the Big 12 feels more like radiation than a cure. I know our attention spans get shorter by the day, but to say the Big 12 "won" ignores all the losses in recent years. We can't forget why the Big 12 was desperate to poach Colorado from the Pac=12 and why it's still actively looking to expand. It has to: Why Big 12 luring Colorado back from Pac-12 is just a short-term solution with larger issues on the horizon - CBSSports.com WWW.CBSSPORTS.COM Colorado's return to the Big 12 is more of a bandage than a long-term solution PD posted this podcast. It's a good listen. If you haven't done so, here it is. Hopefully the Pac-12 heeds the warning signs and begin to take a more aggressive approach. While waiting to seal the media deal, they need to expand now with an SMU invite for the 2024 year and SDSU for the 2025 year. We need a 10th school for the 2024 year. SMU can join with no restrictions and they have the donors to do it. SDSU can then give the MW notice they are leaving for the 2025 year. This gives their conference enough time to evade the higher exit fee. Canzano & Wilner: The Podcast Colorado announced it was leaving the Pac-12 for the Big 12 this week. 6. Interesting, in the article PD posted, there is the section talking about Oregon's option joining the Big 12: "There have been rumors floating around that the Ducks and Washington Huskies were meeting with Big 12 presidents this week, potentially discussing a move. While we need to wait for things to be confirmed before sounding the alarm, I think that it is at least smart to consider a world in which Oregon heads to the Big 12 instead of the Big Ten." Did both Oregon and Washington actually talked with the Big 12? There was this article, already posted, stating of a rumor the other mystery school was outside of the 4 corner schools in the Pac-12. 8. Of course, rumors will start flying around who that mystery school will be. Pac-12 football: Who is the “mystery” program that could join Colorado? To me, that means teams outside of Arizona, Colorado, and Utah. That leaves programs such as Oregon, Oregon State, Washington, Cal, and Stanford. A lot of people are guessing Oregon. That would be a huge move for the Ducks and that could very well be the case, but the “surprise” factor makes me think it’s not Oregon because that’s what everyone is guessing. Washington is also another popular guess. But if I were a betting man, I’d bet that we may see those two in the Big Ten in the coming years if the Pac-12 completely falls apart. A surprise team could be Oregon State or Cal or Stanford. All three of those would surprise me. In the end, Oregon is a strong contender and so is Washington, especially if both of those programs are worried about riding a sinking ship. 9. Not sure where this guy (above) is getting his information, but according to Ducks Wire Stanford is ranked ninth in the Pac-12. Maybe he pulled numbers from 2016? That's how far back you might have to go when Christian McCaffrey was their running back. Pac-12 Football: Who has the most talented running back room? DUCKSWIRE.USATODAY.COM Which Pac-12 team feels the best about their RB room going forward?
  10. That is what I was thinking as well. Let's face it, there is know way BIG would be thinking adding more schools during this contractual period. It would be a logistical nightmare scheduling more schools, besides the money isn't there to do so. If we think about it, would it even be profitable for a conference to go beyond 16 teams? Scheduling and the availability for a team to climb high enough in that conference to make the playoffs? I'm not sure if it is? Not to mention the number of time spots available.
  11. Washington State's Ron Stone Jr. speaks out. Last week, Stone Jr. and I spoke in person again. This time about greed and the game’s twisted landscape. He told me about being approached in the offseason by collectives that tried to lure him away from Pullman with a pile of NIL money. “It kind of kills it for some players,” Stone Jr. said. “Everyone is chasing the financial gain and not the actual football gain, the athletic opportunity. It’s ‘Who can pay me more?’ and not ‘Who can play me more?’ It’s not ‘What scheme fits me better?’ It’s ‘Which car is better?’” As long as college athletics is asking for congressional intervention on the matter, it ought to put Stone Jr. in front of a subcommittee. 15. Oregon makes top group for elite 5-star edge defender in Class of 2025 Zion Grady is over a year from signing to play college football, but he’s already narrowing the focus of his recruitment. Grady, the top edge-defender in the Class of 2025, named his top 10 teams. As one might expect, the Troy, Alabama native is showing a strong interest in playing in the SEC. He’s also considering playing in the Pac-12. Oregon is the only 2025 Pac-12 team to make the cut for Grady’s top 10. The Ducks will compete with Alabama, Auburn, Florida State, Georgia, Louisville, Tennessee, Texas and USC to land Grady. 18. Wait until you read this! Dubious indeed! Fandom in college football is sometimes a touchy subject. There are teams that you love more than anything in the world and teams that you hate with a fiery passion. Despite the passionate feelings, there is often a sense of respect between groups, though. Even college football fans who can’t stand the Oregon Ducks acknowledge that the team in Eugene is popular. It doesn’t matter how much you despise the green and yellow, it’s hard to deny that with the uniforms, the connection to Nike, and the rise to national prominence over the past couple of decades, the group of individuals that call themselves Oregon fans has grown exponentially. However, a recent study that was done by SBRNet and analyzed by AL.com has a different view. The study uses polling data from the marketing research firm in partnership with the Center for Sports Analytics at Samford University, working to find out which schools in the nation have the largest fanbases for college football programs. According to the study, Oregon doesn’t have a top-10 fanbase; nor do they have a top-20 fanbase, when looking at size. Somehow, the study conducted by SBRNet determines that the Ducks have the 37th largest fanbase in the nation — which ranks sixth in the Pac-12 conference alone — boasting just a total of 921,746 fans. For reference, the No. 1 fanbase per the study is Ohio State, with a number of 6,151,180. You can see why we are dubious about the data. Oregon Football: New study shows questionable view of Ducks fanbase DUCKSWIRE.USATODAY.COM Oregon’s fanbase is how big? A new study claims that the Ducks have a way smaller following than you might think. We respectfully disagree.
  19. The media is over looking what we have on the offensive line. They see Oregon losing 4 veteran offensive line starters from last year's team. But the team will have some of the best talent in the league on this year's squad. Marcus Harper, Josh Conerly, Jackson Powers-Johnson (who was really mentored by Alex Forsyth in the center position), along with a handful of other younger players who have some experience playing in games. Also, Lanning and Klemm brought in through the portal Angilus and Cornelius. Angilus started 34 games across different spots on the line during his time at Texas. Cornelius was among the most highly-coveted players in the transfer portal. With the help of these couple of big time commitments, Oregon's offensive line could be a major strength this coming season. I think about what Will Stein will produce on the field with a talented experience QB and one of the top receiving corps in the country. Along with an embarrassment of riches in the running back position, and a really good offensive line leading the charge. What Will Stein did at his old school with a depleted front line. I can imagine what he will be able to do with this front line at Oregon. Our defense will be a different animal this coming season. With a wealth of talent everywhere with Burch, Bassa and Jamal Hill leading the way. Dan Lanning is starting to build layers of players to run the type of defense he is looking for. He is one of the brightest defensive minds in the country. Both Charles and coach Boles have presented us with an array of multifaceted offensive and defensive plays that excites the imagination of what this team is capable of doing this year. I have no doubt what this offense will be able achieve this year. But what I am most intrigue, which I believe will be the big surprise, is our defense. So, let the media overlook Oregon. This only brings fodder to the team. Go Ducks, Fly High!!
  20. An old friend could beat Georgia for five-star LB Justin Williams Oak Ridge (Texas) linebacker Justin Williams is a big deal as a recruit. As such, it shouldn't be all that surprising that there are plenty of big-time schools after his commitment. Williams boasts over 30 offers, but he's narrowed his recruitment down to four blue-bloods: Alabama, Texas, Oregon and Georgia. Ranked as the consensus No. 1 linebacker in the nation, according to the 247Sports Composite, Williams is set to announce his decision on July 24. He even further narrowed his list down to Oregon and Georgia in a conversation with On3, which means that the defending back-to-back national champions are in a fight with the Nike-backed Ducks of Eugene. 23. Charles and HappyToBeADuck stated it well. Look what happened to the brick and mortar stores/malls. They started disappearing due to a new way of shopping via online with Amazon, etc. What is happening is sort of the same way. People are cutting the cord and going by the way of streaming. It's the new way of doing business. This is what's going to happen with linear tv. Linear will never be the same. Big money will be in the streaming business. Hopefully Pac-12 will benefit from it with a solid media contract. I agree with Charles. I'm seeing Oregon will benefit greatly. Helping expand their brand and fanbase.
  24. Love the idea of getting together! My family and I will be arriving in Eugene on Friday! Can't wait for the game! Thanks Charles! Go Ducks, Fly High!
