Lanning’s Defense: Setting the Bar
Thanks again for a great article! Wow, a healthy defense with all this talent and DL's schemes, looking forward to this year's games! Looking to see how our front seven stack up against UGA's run game. This defense will give our offense, with KD's schemes, scoring opportunities to capitalize on. This year's home game against Utah will be a much different game.

SI - What ESPN Backing Out of Big 10 Negotiations Means for the Pac-12
It seems to me due to what just took place with the Big 10, Pac-12 should add SDSU which is a no-brainer. Maybe rustle away Houston to join the Pac-12 instead of the joining the Big 12. We could entice maybe BYU, SMU, TCU? Two big city tv media markets, BYU, great athletics, strong fan following, ranked 21st in academics amongst all the colleges, great rival to Utah. 14 schools stretching across 3 time zones. Or, add SDSU, maybe UNLV or FSU or SMU. Get a deal with ACC for cross games. Whatever is the best deal possible, GK and university presidents/chancellors need to get this right. They need to get creative the best way possible to get the most for the schools. There should be a flexible easy exit out of the conference and merit incentives.

Canzano: Pac-12 Conference Gets a Much-Needed Win
With the Big 10, Fox Sports tier 1 rights (500 million) NBC 2nd position (380 million), CBS 3rd position (350 million), ESPN out. Interesting read on this situation and about Fox Sports sitting in on the Big 10 negotiation meeting with the other networks. Unusual and uncomfortable. Mario Cristobal--When the Knives Come Out
Thanks again Daze for another fun article. Very entertaining! Loved the take on the Slurps and the Mopes at Miami. You've done a superb job explaining the definition of the word 'corch' and MC's connectivity to that word. MC excelled as a recruiter and brought a supporting cast who recruited well. As a HC he had flaws. Not going to rehash what you already mentioned in your article and other fellow OBD members have mentioned here on those flaws. Though OBD pointed out the infractions of these flaws during his time at Oregon, we patiently hoped MC would grow, learn, mature and correct these flaws, potentially become the HC/CEO at Oregon we thought he could become. Unfortunately it seemed he was not willing to change. Majority of the time offense became vanilla and predictable. We are now in the Dan Lanning era! I love so far what I am hearing and seeing about him and his coaching/supporting staff. it's infectious! That you can also see from the players.

Canzano: The Price for Notre Dame to Turn Its Back on the Big Ten is Set
Wrinkles for the Irish to consider in their decision making to stay independent or move to the Big 10. Where is all this going to lead to for the Pac-12? For Oregon and Washington and others, the conference will need to be creative, monetary wise, to entice them from getting restless. My own personal feelings, Oregon should push for an easy early exit clause to leave the conference if the Big 10 should come knocking. I agree with Canzano, the conference needs to go slow and only make no-brainer moves when looking to expand the conference. Good read on what the Pac-12 is looking into and considering what their plan might entail for the next contract. How High Can Dillingham’s Ducks Fly?
Hi Daze, Thank you again for an excellent article! I do have high hopes with this new talented coaching staff and the blue chip players at their disposal. I agree what you are saying about Nix. From the stats I read, at Auburn, his junior season was his best output. "Bo Nix played in a total of 10 games. He passed for 2292 yards on 327 attempts and put up a completion percentage of 60.2 for an average of 7.0 yards per attempt with 11 TDs, and allowing 11 sacks, with a QB rating on the year of 88.9. As a runner he logged 52 runs for a total of 268 yards at an average of 5.2 per run." The above was with a poor offensive line protection and players around him that was not as talented as what Oregon will offer. I believe he will improve only because of this reason, as well as not going up against top defensive talented teams in the SEC. This will give Nix his best opportunity, along with a strong front line, this season to improve on those stats. He will have a lot of talented WRs, TEs, and a strong stable of running backs at his disposal. Here's hoping with KD’s offensive schemes in place with Oregon's blue chip talent around Nix, help us obtain that 15th best offense! We will have a very talented defense that will help put our offense in a position to score points. I also believe there will be games this coaching staff will have opportunities to play our talented young QBs. They will give them much needed game time experience on the field. The QBs will actually be developed and nurtured. They are the future along with incoming Dante Moore! Go Ducks, Fly High!

PAC-12 Needs to Make Moves Sooner Rather Than Later
I think my preference would be for Oregon, Washington, Stanford and Cal be invited to the Big 10. Joining UCLA and (USC 🤮). It's hard for me to even mention USC without wanting to "You Know." This would give a 6 team pod or 5 team pod if Cal is not invited in the West. It will provide us the most money per school, in turn will help all sports for each university to survive. I think if the remaining 10 teams are going to galvanize together they should go after SDSU, FSU or UNLV (Tier 1 research school). Las Vegas is a vastly growing city which will prove to be a valuable TV market for the Pac-12 with a footprint in Nevada. Pac-12 has already made Las Vegas the city of choice for championship games in football and basketball. I would go after BYU. I believe if they had a choice of conference they would choose Pac-12 over Big 12. They are strong in athletics and ranked number 21 in academics amongst all universities in the country. They have a strong brand and a big fan base. Pairs well with Utah. Go after Houston, TCU, OSU. This would give us Dallas/Ft Worth and Houston TV market. From what I have read, OSU has a strong alumni fan presence in the Dallas/Ft Worth area. That would give us a footprint in the Pacific, Mountain, Central time zones with a 16 team conference.

Canzano on KJR Radio: Pac-12 Jockeying to Retain UCLA
If UCLA actually stays in the Pac-12 I would expand. Invite SDSU, BYU, Houston, before Houston and BYU gets tied up with Big 12. Go after Big 12 schools. Invite TCU, TT, OSU, Baylor. If we want to go to 20 schools grab Kansas (basketball) or UNLV or FSU. Or whatever combination works best. Again, If UCLA stays, you will retain the LA market as well as the Bay Area, Seattle, Portland (Oregon's growing national brand), Phoenix, Denver, Salt Lake markets. You are pulling in San Diego, Houston and Dallas/Ft. Worth TV markets with Baylor right in the heart between Dallas and Houston. Waco is growing. The conference spans across the Pacific, Mountain, Central time zones. Geographically speaking it could still work. Between ESPN, Fox and big streaming medias might muster financial windfall for the schools, make the conference strong enough to gain a place in the playoffs. Again, we'd need as many big TV markets we can grab in these times zones to hopefully muster enough clout. It would bring in around 30 million TV homes. Again, who knows if it would work or be good enough.

Regarding Bo Nix: Beware ‘Bandwagon Buy-In’
I personally would rather have brought one of our young QBs up to be the starter. They have patiently been waiting. I do blame the last regime on not being equip to handle and develop young QBs. So Bo Nix stats for 3 seasons at Auburn overall: 628 CMP out of 1,057 ATT: CMP% AVG 59.5% Total YDS: 7,251, AVG 6.9 Total TDs: 39 Total INT: 16 He has a gunslinger mentality, but is a dual threat QB that can make things happen with his legs and arm. Important in a KD offense, especially if he had to improvise to make things happen out of a broken play, etc. Marcus was very good with this to make a play successful. Maybe with good protection from our experience front line will give him more time to be more calculated in his passing game. Sorry if this might have been already posted. I thought this Bio profile and scouting report was helpful. Speed Training Pivotal at Tight End this Offseason
This is a great write-up about our whole strength and conditioning coaches. Speed is important. What I like is no cookie cutter program. This whole team of coaches builds individual strength and speed workouts for each player based upon the assessments for each individual. Each coach specializes in a particular group and their individuals in that group, zeroing in on their particular needs. Canzano: A Final Lesson In Perseverance From Sister D
This article is about a good human interest story on perseverance. She loved sports. "Dolores explained that sports contained an abundance of perseverance. Houston & TCU
Instead of BSU I would invite BYU. They are good in athletics and ranked #21 in academics amongst colleges. They have a great fan base as well as a big rival with Utah. Or keep both and invite either Cincinnati, UCF or WV. These 3 schools might be too far geographically to work. But who knows. The issue with this, would it draw enough finances for each school to be worth it? I hate what is happening to College sports. Which is the better way for Oregon? Go to the Big 10 if invited or stay and form a super conference with other schools? Both ways has issues to consider. If Oregon has a choice they would go to the Big 10. it's where the money is as well as getting to the playoffs or to a New Year 6 bowl.
