  2. We know how poorly we played against Utah twice. Yes coach MC was bad in game day preparation for those games against Utah, we also had a lot of team injuries last year. But Utah has a great team who we lost badly in both games. From what I read, last year Utah ran the third most offensive plays when facing nine defenders in the box, averaging 5.7 yards per rushing attempt. Also, they ran the most first-down plays against nine-man boxes, where they averaged over 6 yards per carry. Their tailback finished third nationally in rushing touchdowns from a group that finished second nationally in rushing efficiency. Cameron Rising is very good. Utah finished 10th nationally in passing success rate. I see why they are ranked so high nationally. I am glad we are not facing them until later in the season, giving our team time for growth and more seasoned. Georgia well, we know what they did last year. I can understand them under-estimating what Oregon can do. Last year, outside of how well we played at Ohio State, we failed to impress nationally through the rest of the season. I believe this year will be different. I have confidence in this coaching staff putting the best QB at this moment in the Georgia game that will help give us our biggest chance to be competitive. We have so many great talented players on both sides of the ball, which our great FishDuck writers have so intelligently pointed out to us in many articles. Our defense will be phenomenal this year. We have a talented seasoned front OL along with the talented OT Conerly. We have talented receivers, TEs and a running back room that will be surprisingly good. Oregon has a hard schedule this year and there will be growing pains in this game against Georgia. But, I believe there will be a big jump between the first game and the second game, moving forward. I love my Ducks!

  18. Thanks DZC for another great article giving us insight into the upcoming game. I was thinking we secured a win over Ohio State in Columbus last year, not because Anthony Brown had an amazing game against the Buckeyes. What he did do was take care of the ball, operate the offense, and get the ball to his playmakers. That's what this year's QB will need to do for Kenny Dillingham, especially against a young Georgia defense. QB play will be the key factor. Last year not many teams ran the ball well against Georgia. This is where it's crucial to establish a strong run game behind an experience OL giving us confidence in setting up the rest of the playbook (though Charles pointed out about the right tackle being a weakness). The main battle is the Georgia linebackers (mostly younger players), against the Ducks offense, which will most likely be Bo Nix as the starter. Nix played Georgia multiple times and he didn't have much success against Kirby Smart's defense. His 2021 stats against Georgia was Cmp-21, Att-38, Pct-55.3, Yds-217, TD-0, Int-1, Rate-98. This time around, new team with better talent (Oregon's roster is evolving, new culture being established), with this coaching staff (Dan Lanning's familiarity with Georgia) will help make a difference for Nix, and hopefully will keep our Ducks competitive. The big question is will our Ducks experienced offensive line be able to give him enough time? Will Nix make good decisions? He needs to get the ball to weapons like Seven McGee, Donte Thornton and others. This will determine whether our Ducks will be competitive through out the game. I certainly hope so! Go Ducks, Fly High!
