  6. When it comes to the landscape of college football in today’s day and age, one of the most important numbers to track doesn’t have to do with a team’s success on the field, but rather the number of eyeballs they garner off of it. In the world of conference realignment, the idea of TV ratings has become ever more important. With teams like Texas and Oklahoma leaving the Big 12 for the SEC, followed by USC, UCLA, Oregon, and Washington fleeing the Pac-12 for the Big Ten, the game has changed. You now have teams like Oregon State and Washington State — two successful football programs in the grand scheme of things — who have been left by the wayside largely because they don’t garner a ton of eyeballs. While the college football world has completely changed over the past year with the death of the Pac-12, it’s not hard to see the reasoning for it all when you look at the numbers and follow the money. If you pay attention to TV ratings, it makes sense that networks like FOX, ABC, CBS, etc. are willing to dish out large checks to the schools that garner the most eyeballs. So when looking at the new conference layout in the world of college athletics, what can we learn about the lay of the land when it comes to TV ratings? Take a look at the top-25 most-watched teams from last season and keep in mind the conference affiliation for each as you go along: All stats come from The Action Network and Sports Media Watch. Where the Ducks ranked among most-watched football teams in 2023 DUCKSWIRE.USATODAY.COM A look at where the Oregon Ducks ranked among the most-watched teams in the nation during the 2023 college football season.
  7. In the world of high school recruiting, it’s pretty fair to say that 247Sports has become the industry standard over the last decade, and their ratings of incoming players are often viewed as the best and most accurate. On Monday evening, 247Sports offered their final update of the year to the Top 247 — their 247 highest-ranked players in the 2024 class. Being that the Oregon Ducks have one of the best recruiting classes in the nation, currently sitting at No. 5, it makes sense that a number of their players saw rating adjustments, both moving up and moving down in the rankings. In total 14 Ducks saw their numbers move, with one additional massive Oregon target seeing a nice bump as well. Here’s a look at the latest numbers, and how they changed on Monday night for incoming Oregon signees and targets: Oregon Recruiting Ducks see ratings adjustments in latest 247 update DUCKSWIRE.USATODAY.COM Over a dozen Oregon Ducks players saw a ratings adjustment from the latest Top 247Sports release on Monday.
  8. Oregon offers rising 2026 star safety out of Georgia Oregon extended an offer to a safety out of one of the top high schools in the state of Georgia. Dan Lanning and the Oregon coaching staff are in the state of Georgia making stops and evaluating prospects, and recently they stopped by one of the top high schools in the state to make a scholarship offer. Oregon's coaching staff extended an offer to a 2026 safety who's seeing his recruitment blow up. Here is more on the scholarship offer. Oregon CO-Defensive Coordinator and safety coach Chris Hampton and Oregon offensive line coach A'lique Terry have led the early recruitment for McCoy on behalf of the Oregon Ducks. 6-foot-2 safety Nassir McCoy, out of Buford High School, landed a scholarship offer from the Ducks on January 22nd. McCoy also carries offers from programs like Georgia, LSU, Michigan, Tennessee, and Texas. McCoy is currently an unranked prospect at this time, but we should note that a majority of the 2026 recruiting class hasn't received a ranking yet. 10. It seems Rivals ranked both Aydin Ireland and Elijah Rushing with 4 stars with Oregon ranked No. 6. I always thought they were a solid 5 star across the board. 247Sports has these two ranked 5 stars with Oregon team ranked No. 3. I believe Charles considers Rivals having the best accurate rankings out there. But I agree, hard to believe this class winded up with no 5 star rankings on Rivals.
  11. For the second-straight season, college football could see another first-time national champion. College Football Playoff expansion headlines the 2024 season and increases the likelihood of the sport producing a first-time national champion head coach. Titles put you in rare air considering Nick Saban's decision to retire and Jimbo Fisher's previous firing leaves only four active coaches with national titles entering spring — a number that could dwindle if Jim Harbaugh decides to leave for the NFL. What does it take to be the last team standing in college football's new era? In short, talent, schedule favorability and an elite coaching staff are three facts that all recent champions have seemed to have. Unless Kirby Smart, Dabo Swinney or Mack Brown get it done, history will be made a year from now in the title game. Three coaches who just missed making the cut here were USC's Lincoln Riley, Penn State's James Franklin and Tennessee's Josh Heupel. College football's Seven likeliest coaches to win first national championship next season, ranked 247SPORTS.COM For the second-straight season, college football could see another first-time national champion.
  12. Oregon Ducks offer QB 'prodigy' Jayden Wade in class of 2028 One of the most important aspects of recruiting in the world of college football is being up on the future stars before others have had a chance to build a relationship with them. That’s exactly what Dan Lanning and the Oregon Ducks appear to be doing, extending a scholarship offer to Jayden Wade, a quarterback in the class of 2028. At the moment, Wade is a 14-year-old who plays for IMG Academy. He has been dubbed a QB “prodigy” by analysts and fans who have watched his development over the years. In late December, Wade picked up his first major scholarship offer from the Georgia Bulldogs, but he also holds offers from the Utah Utes, Washington State Cougars, and Arizona Wildcats. According to his social media, Wade stands at 6-foot-4, 190 pounds (my goodness, at this age?). At the moment, the Ducks don't have any other offers in the class of 2028, but they have extended several offers in the class of 2027. 14. Oregon's Roger Saleapaga adjusting nicely with his new squad after enrolling early Oregon freshman tight end Roger Saleapaga is enjoying his time at Oregon after enrolling early. Salepaga says the arrival to Oregon ahead of the traditional enrollment date of June will help him get a head start on the playbook, working with the coaching staff on his technique and skill set and adjusting to college. "My whole goal is to play early," he said. After arriving in Oregon and getting settled into Eugene, Saleapaga quickly saw the rumors that come with college football. Oregon head coach Dan Lanning was linked to the opening at Alabama after Nick Saban's retirement. Lannin quickly shot down the rumors of his interest in the job, and Saleapaga said he trusted in Oregon and Lanning. Saleapaga said he was confident Lanning would never leave Oregon. He cited how real Lanning was during the recruiting process and his commitment to staying in Oregon. He said Lanning and his staff cooperated honestly in the recruiting process, which paid off with his commitment. "That's the reason why I went there," said Salepaga. "It's truly a blessing to just see a coach that is tied to a team." Now in Eugene, Salepaga is focused on getting himself ready for the season on the football field while also making an impact off it. He says when he leaves Eugene after finishing his college career, he wants fans and the community to know he left an impact. "I want people to see that I helped Eugene, not just on the football field but off the field too," he said. "I want to make a positive impact in my life, and I want to look back and say I changed someone's life in Eugene." 15. THE LATEST: Oregon and 5-Star Safety Faheem Delane January has been a busy recruiting month for the Oregon Ducks and they're set to host Olney (Md.) Our Lady Good Counsel safety Faheem Delane for a visit on January 26. He's the No. 1 ranked safety in the 2025 class (per 247SportsComposite) and spoke with Ducks Digest about the latest in his recruitment. "Coach Lanning, he used to coach at Georgia so he knows what good football looks like," he said. "This past season they really were one game away from being in the playoff beating Washington and Washington was a national championship contender. So that really shows you how close they are." The head man in Eugene is what stands out most to Delane, particularly his commitment to the Ducks and love for the program. "I would say the head coach, of course. Coach Lanning. You know, it was a big thing everybody said he was going to 'Bama, everybody said this. He posted that big thing that he was he was staying at Oregon. That just shows you how much he loves Oregon and it's his future there." He has strong ties with the Ducks at both the coach and player level. "I talk to Coach (Chris) Hampton the safeties coach. He calls me a lot. I talked to Coach Lanning on FaceTime a few days ago. Just excited for my visit up there. https://www.bnd.com/sports/college/article284487975.html#storylink=rss

  18. Oregon Set to Host Washington CB Jabbar Muhammad Ahead of Commitment Dan Lanning and the Ducks look like they'll get their chance as the last visit for Muhammad before he makes his final decision. He had previously told Ducks Digest that he wanted to make his commitment this week, but it looks like his timeline is getting pushed back to allow him to see what Oregon has to offer. "They got everything you need to be successful and like I said that's kind of like exactly what I'm looking for at the end of the day," he said of his Oregon interest in a recent interview. "They have stability there. Obviously with Coach Lanning turning down jobs and everything. Oregon's building something really special." Transfer portal recruitments are extremely fluid and can change in an instant. So I wouldn't be surprised if this trip got moved up to earlier next week. But right now it looks like you shouldn't count out the Ducks for Muhammad. https://www.bnd.com/sports/college/article284464595.html#storylink=rss
  19. Matt Prehm of 247 Sports joins Danny and Dusty to talk Dan Lanning staying with the Ducks Another good video on Dan Lanning's package Oregon had put together for the coach. The ripple affect positively for Oregon.
  20. Not sure if you have listen to this full video from Josh Pate, about a week old, but it's really good. 8.5 minutes Long. This was from a Bama fan: I believe Dan Lanning will be the next great college football coach in the history of college football... he has the youth, the skill, the gravitas, and the courageous dedication... and, I believe this as a lifelong Bama fan... too bad he won't come to Bama but that is part and parcel of his greatness... his dedication to his school, team, and fans... much like Nick Saban.
