Oregon Ducks vs. Colorado Buffaloes: Ducks opens as early three-score favorites vs. Coach Prime

The first three weeks of the college football season have been relatively mundane for the Oregon Ducks.

Week 1 and Week 3 featured games against overly matched opponents who arguably didn’t belong on the same field as Oregon, and while Week 2 was entertaining against Texas Tech, it was the Red Raiders loss to Wyoming in Week 1 that took some shine off of that matchup.

Going into Week 4, though, we get all of the storylines.

Coach Deion ‘Prime Time’ Sanders is coming to Eugene with an undefeated record, and he has something to say. While the Colorado Buffaloes have won every game on their schedule, they haven’t really beaten anyone good along the way.

In the first conference game for either team of the 2023 season, it will be a litmus test for both squads trying to capture the nation’s attention and declare themselves “the real deal.” Get your popcorn ready.

Here’s an early look at this weekend’s betting lines according to BetMGM.

Early betting lines for Oregon vs. Colorado have the Ducks as comfortable favorites heading into Week 4 against Coach Prime.

Social Media Is Positive The Refs Rigged Game For Colorado After Very Questionable Call Screwed Colorado State In OT (VIDEO)

Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders would not let his team lose, but it seems like the refs wouldn’t let them lose either.

The Buffs trailed Colorado State by 11 points with under eight minutes to play, but Sanders led the team all the way back to force overtime. And in double-overtime, Colorado was able to prevail 43-35 on Sanders’ touchdown pass to Michael Harrison and a subsequent two-point conversion connection with Xavier Weaver.

A blindside block by Horton negated a rushing score in overtime and moved the Rams back to the 18. Two plays later, CSU’s QB threw a fourth-down pick to Trevor Woods.

A lot of people think that call was incorrect and the Rams got screwed in the end.

Column: Bring on the outside noise, Dan Lanning's Ducks are focused and ready for Prime Time

Before the 2023 college football season began for the No. 11 Oregon Ducks, a pair of very notable alums — Sabrina Ionescu and Hroniss Grasu — gifted the team with custom pairs of noise-canceling Beats headphones, decked out in green and yellow with the classic Oregon wings on the sides.

Those headphones will be put to good use in Eugene this week. There is bound to be a lot of noise to block out.

If you aren’t aware of what Sanders has been doing in Boulder over the past few months, then you’ve been living under a rock.

It’s a hype train that has consisted of non-competitive games with 8-plus million viewers, sidelines that look like a red carpet for a movie premiere, and enough ESPN and FOX airtime to convince you that Sanders has eventual plans to run for public office.

That entire dog and pony show is coming to Eugene this weekend as the Buffs try to keep things rolling and continue their storybook start to a season.

No matter, the Ducks are prepared. They’re ready for the noise. They’ve got a good idea about what’s coming their way. They’ve got their Beats, courtesy of Sabrina and Hroniss.

Oregon's Dan Lanning May Have Already Made Things 'Personal' With Deion Sanders, Colorado

Deion Sanders and the Colorado Buffaloes thrive on bulletin board material. Luckily for them, Oregon head coach Dan Lanning gave them plenty of it during the offseason.

Lanning, who is in his second year as the Oregon head coach, was asked about Colorado's move to the Big 12 during the Ducks' media day ahead of fall camp. He took a major shot at the school's football program during his answer.

"Not a big reaction. I'm trying to remember what they won to affect this conference and I don't remember," Lanning told reporters who asked for his thoughts on the move. "Do you remember them winning anything? I don't remember them winning anything."

Stock Report: Oregon's secondary shines, defensive line shows major push

Similar to Week 1 in a blowout win over the Portland State Vikings, it’s pretty hard to nitpick in a game like we saw on Saturday night against the Hawaii Rainbow Warriors, with the Oregon Ducks winning 55-10 in dominant fashion.

The offense put up numbers, the defense shut things down, and a long list of young players and depth pieces were able to get on the field and see some meaningful minutes.

All in all, it was a great day at Autzen Stadium, outside of those frustrating penalties that once again proved to be a problem. Dan Lanning addressed that after the game, but was also very ready to highlight the performances of his players. As we do each week, here is our stock report following the game, highlighting the players who did the most to help or hurt their case going forward:

Deion Sanders: 'I respect the heck' out of Dan Lanning and the Ducks

Taking the high road has never been Deion Sanders’ strong suit. He tells you like it is and what is exactly on his mind. He was like that as a player and he’s like that as a football coach.

In his weekly press conference, Sanders was asked about Dan Lanning’s preseason comments about Colorado not winning anything since joining the Pac-12. Instead of saying it will be bulletin board material for his team, he chose to praise the Ducks and Lanning.

Ajani Corenlius outlines how the O-Line has played 'up to standard' on pass downs

Oregon offensive lineman Ajani Cornelius weighs in on the start to his first season with the Ducks and how the new-look offensive line has come together through three weeks.

Bo Nix has now been sacked just six times in 16 games at Oregon — a figure which is best nationally over that span.

Only Texas Tech has brought the fifth-year senior down this year.

Nix was sacked once in that game, and according to the official stat book was hurried on just one other pass. Pro Football Focus, which grades every down of every game each week, has this year's front graded top nationally in pass blocking.

One might assume the line's continued pass down success is due to continuity. It is not. The team has been asked to replaced four of five starters from a season ago, making the start this year all the more impressive.

Oregon football recent history spells bad news for Deion Sanders, Colorado football

Deion Sanders’ undefeated start as the Colorado football coach is likely to come to an end Saturday when the Buffaloes visit Oregon.

The betting odds suggest that Oregon should win handily, given that they are favored by three touchdowns. The recent history of the Colorado-Oregon football rivalry might indicate that Deion Sanders’ squad will finally suffer a loss in the 2023 season.

Oregon beat Colorado 52-29 in 2021. All nine of the Ducks’ wins over the Buffaloes in the last 20 years have come by 17 points or more.

While Nix is back as Oregon’s quarterback, Colorado is a completely different team than it was a year ago. Sanders completely overhauled a roster that finished the 2022 season with a 1-11 record.

Last year’s matchup, along with the last 10 Colorado-Oregon meetings, should have no bearing on Saturday’s outcome.

Behind Enemy Lines: Buffaloes writer discusses Colorado's upcoming trip to Autzen

It’s the first real big game of the season for the Oregon Ducks, and who knew it would come in the form of the Colorado Buffaloes?

Both teams come into the game ranked in the Top 20 and for the first time in a very long time, Colorado has all the confidence of the world thanks to head coach Deion Sanders and the three wins under their belt.

Now the circus is on its way to Eugene, so we talked to USA TODAY’s Buffaloes Wire’s own Tony Cosolo about all things Buffaloes before the big game on ABC Saturday.

But Colorado will be shorthanded with two-way star Travis Hunter out. How big of an impact will that make on the final score of the game?

Does Colorado have a legitimate chance of winning and what will that mean to their program?

We asked Tony about these things surrounding the contest and much more...

ESPN's SP+ predicts the score of Oregon's Pac-12 opener vs. Colorado

Bill Connelly’s SP+ is predicting a rout this weekend in Eugene.

No. 10 Oregon welcomes No. 19 Colorado to Autzen Stadium for both teams’ opening game of conference play. It’s a matchup that was earmarked on the calendar way back when Deion Sanders took the Colorado job, but with CU’s hot start to the season, the hype around the game has elevated it to must-watch TV.

Connelly’s predictive model is calling for a 46-17 Oregon win. It gives the Buffaloes just a 5% chance of pulling off the upset and keeping their unbeaten record intact.

7 major questions for Oregon Ducks as Deion Sanders comes to town

It has been quite a while since we saw this much hype for a football game played inside Autzen Stadium.

You could say that the Oregon Ducks’ game vs. the Washington Huskies last year — Oregon was No. 6, and Washington was No. 25 — but even that didn’t come close to living up to the level of anticipation that this week has brought.

A few weeks earlier, it was the No. 10 Ducks who hosted No. 9 UCLA with ESPN’s College GameDay in town, and even then, I would wager to say that this upcoming showdown — with Deion ‘Coach Prime’ Sanders coming to Eugene — is more of a spectacle.

So with a lot of eyes tuned in, it’s safe to say that the Ducks have a lot of questions to answer, both on a macro and micro level. While the nation will be looking to see how good this team can be in general, there are more minute details that we are focused on.

Here are our biggest questions for the Ducks going into the weekend:

Will Oregon slow down Shedeur Sanders? Can Oregon’s DL and OL dominate the game? Will Bo Nix shine on the national stage? Our biggest questions for Saturday.

3 Keys to victory for the Ducks against the Colorado Buffaloes

On Saturday afternoon, the Oregon Ducks will kick things off against the Colorado Buffaloes at Autzen Stadium. Going into the season, the Ducks were expected to blow the Buffs out, and while that is still the expectation, the perception of Colorado has changed a lot since the season started.

The Ducks are currently favored by 21.5 points according to BetMGM, which I think is a little high.

I think Colorado is a better team than they showed against CSU last weekend and I think they give the Ducks a hard time on Saturday. I do think this is a very winnable game for the Ducks, and a win is the result I expect.

Below are the three things I think the Ducks need to do to ensure victory against Colorado
