The NFL draft happened over the weekend. As a devoted Duck fan you may not have watched it live, as rounds four through seven happened on the day our beloved Ducks played an electric spring game. I am here to tell you that it was a home run of a weekend not only on the field, but on draft night ...

Thanks, Ryan. Nice results for Dan who, while spreading sugar on the draftees noted that the goal is to have the same number of players drafted in the first two rounds.

With the help of UW and Oregon in particular, the New B1G finished with 70 players drafted. Only 4 drafted from Ohio State. Ohio State would have had 10 or more players drafted if all draft-eligible Buckeyes entered the draft. This bodes well for Ohio State in 2024. Michigan with 13 players drafted did not tie or exceed Georgia's record of 15 players drafted in 2022. 3.88 B1G players drafted per team.

Thanks to Texas having 11 players drafted, the New SEC finished with 73 players drafted. 4.56 per team. 2 fewer teams than the 18 in the B1G. Quinn Ewers is back for Texas but I am not convinced that Texas can overcome the loss of its top 3 WRs, TE, RB, and two stud DL interior defenders. Oklahoma only had 3 players drafted and as we know, Dillon is gone, and the entire OL has to be replaced, I think both Texas and Oklahoma are preseason overrated, especially Oklahoma with a brutal in-conference schedule.

Thanks again, Ryan.

Fun stuff Ryan, and boy are you right about what Lanning has done for developing the players to where they could be drafted.  At this time last year, we worried about whether we could replace Alex Forsyth at center....and then we get Oregon's first "Top-Center" award ever.

Great recruiting fodder, to point to our draft as Oregon players are respected by NFL teams.

Mr. FishDuck

A huge sign Lanning is doing it right. One of the big signs Mariø was in over his head was the lack of progress within his elite talent development. There also wasn't much development within others, but when 5* players repeatedly underperform that is incredibly destructive for almost all aspects of a program.

What we are seeing is the opposite under Lanning. He is developing in house, bringing in under developed players, and exciting the nation with what he is doing.

This is just one more signal things are going in the right direction. The sun in rising on a program, that may not have known it, but whose footing had been on shaky ground.

Great point, with a program that has produced some excellent NFL centers. We still have Hansen and Grasu on active rosters. Now we will have a second rounder at this critical position. Looks like we are reloading at the position too!

Don't forget the retired great and Pro Bowler Unger. Oregon is quietly producing elite talent at center position, a critical spot on the roster.

My hope is we begin to produce elite WR talent. Maybe we have already and the NFL didn't realize it. Or maybe we have a couple on our roster already.

The next step to truly elite program development is elite WR. Seems like every national title holder had a 1st rounder at WR?

I haven't seen a single mention of ducks getting signed as UDFA. Every year we have about five. We're there really none this year?

Popo Aumave to Carolina

Steven Jones to Jacksonville

Casey Rodgers to NY Giants

Taki Taimani to Minnesota
