30Duck No. 1 Share Posted September 30 Appetizers can be tasty, and the Ducks should devour the Spartans before an Autzen crowd starving for a dominating performance by the Ducks in their first B1G home game. Playing Ohio Stat at home, then going on the road to Oregon, should give Michigan State a stomachache. DuckFan93 No. 2 Share Posted September 30 (edited) I wouldn't say that and certainly hope the team doesn't read this kind of articles. This is a classic trap game. MSU is much better than UCLA and they have a skillful coach that has a life-long grudge against us. My prediction is that we win by 2 scores and it will take all 4 quarters. Charles Fischer Administrator No. 3 Share Posted September 30 Every team can beat us, and we need every win we can get. "Fear none, but respect all," is my favorite expression in this context. Rather than appetizer, I would prefer to think of the game as an important test, a chance to get better, and an opportunity for a win. This team needs to get mentally tougher, as Mike West pointed out, IMHO. 7 Mr. FishDuck
Solar No. 4 Share Posted September 30 (edited) I will say that MSU, after playing the best team in the conference having to travel across the country on a short week to play at 9pm.at night, is the B1G giving them to us on a silver platter. Whether they are an entree or a main course of their own is TBD. The spread definitely thinks they are an entree. OhioDuck No. 5 Share Posted September 30 Yeah, this definitely has the potential for a trap game. This is not one of the best MSU teams to take the field, but there is a lot of pride in that program and after the loss to OSU where they were pretty much dominated in every phase of the game, they may come out pretty fired up. I'm still thinking 3+ touchdown Oregon win, but I won't be surprised if MSU hangs with the Ducks early.
30Duck Author No. 6 Share Posted September 30 I do think it's the perfect game to play before Ohio State. The Spartans were just handled by Ohio State, in what could be the toughest two game stretch any team will have this season. Autzen will be full, the Spartans will have a lot of energy to absorb. Coach Smith will definitely have them fired up. I don't think Oregon should be keeping things under wraps for Ohio State by now, Oregon needs to go with everything they have against Michigan State and keep building on that for Ohio State next week.
woundedknees No. 7 Share Posted September 30 I have a feeling CJS will have MSU ready for the Ducks... That doesn't mean I don't anticipate a solid performance by Oregon. IMO, the talent gap will be the deciding factor, regardless of how fired up the opponent is. no doubt in my mind, Dan Lanning is busy stoking the boiler at a fever pitch.
