30Duck Author No. 2 Share Posted October 19 It looks like two weeks minimum before even practice is possible.
woundedknees No. 3 Share Posted October 19 Depends on how severe the infection was, but my granddaughter just had hers done, and was out of most physical activity for 4 weeks. Maybe Wisconsin game, at the earliest?
Drake Moderator No. 4 Share Posted October 19 Length of time for recovery depends on the type of surgery required. A burst appendix is a more invasive procedure than removing an appendix by laparoscopic surgery which can be performed on an outpatient basis. The fact that TFerg went from first symptoms to surgery in what sounds like 24 hours would make both a perforation and an open procedure highly unlikely. While maybe not outpatient, if uncomplicated, he would be discharged in under 24 hours. The 3-4 incisions are small (5-10mm) and heal quickly. He should be back at practice, non-contact in 7-10 days, missing the Illinois game. He'll be close by the Michigan game, but probably not yet 100%. I would think that barring any problems, he might play against Maryland and would almost certainly be ready for Wisconsin. No fun, but it beats the hell out of an ACL or high ankle sprain. 2
OregonDucks No. 6 Share Posted October 19 (edited) Wow. Glad that they caught and took care of it. Feel bad for T. Ferg., though, having to miss a few games during his last collegiate season. Edited October 19 by OregonDucks
