Oregon "Not Really" a B1G Team...

Recommended Posts

The Athletic writer meant it in a charming, almost complimentary way?

---------------------------------------------------

No. 2 Oregon 35, Purdue 0

  • You’re not really a Big Ten team until you squander a top-five ranking on the road in West Lafayette. Therefore, Oregon is still not a Big Ten team, having instead destroyed 1-6 Purdue on Friday night. No. 22 Illinois in Eugene is next.

  • Assuming Oregon moves up to No. 1 in today’s AP, that’ll be this season’s fourth change atop the poll. That’s already the most for any season since 2014’s four.

---------------------------------------------------

While we are certainly are a B1G team now, I'll bet that many B1G Athletic Directors have no qualms about adding Washington and the LA market at the moment.

But Oregon? "They're going to be a pain..."

I'm interested to see how Oregon's offense performs in November at Michigan and at Wisconsin, especially if there is snow.  We do not have the running game we are accustomed to and we might need to establish that in bad weather games, later in the season.

🤔Hmm,  I have a great idea!  Oregon can bring in snow making machines.  This way they could cover the field with snow, emulating the conditions in preparations for Michigan and Wisconsin.

Only Oregon could pull this off.

The Moshofsky center doesn’t have a snow feature built in?!? Cmon Oregon step up your facilities!

Or they could take a road trip to Mount Hood or Mount Bachelor and get some high altitude conditioning in at the same time...

We are going to the Michigan game. The extended weather report calls for a high of 53 and a low of 39. I hope that holds, I pack light and don't want to pack insulated boots and a snow suit.

Perhaps Oregon is supposed to be an SEC team?   The Ducks are ranked No. 1 in the AFCA Coaches Poll released Sunday morning.

9 - SEC

5 - Big Ten

4 - ACC

3 - Big12

plus Notre Dame (ACC?), Boise St, Army, Navy

Right now, Oregon, is as "Real" as it gets, USC?

November CAN be bad weather, but typically it's not. January is different matter.

That's why the bad weather thing is overrated.

But our running game has not been dominant.

Ducks had 51 of 53 coaches contributing to the ranking.   High of No. 1, low of No. 7 (we're looking at you Doctor Lanning?)

Georgia had the other 2 first-place votes.

Surprised that Coach Lanning didn't rank the Ducks lower to bring down the average. LOL.

Perhaps he is one of the two coaches that voted Georgia #1 (maybe Sark is the other)?  Someone should ask him to share his rankings this week during one of his press conferences or media interviews.

This. Everyone keeps talking about how we’re going to Hoth. Odds are very high the weather will be just as bad in Eugene those two weeks. We’ve regularly had November games in places like Utah, Pullman, Seattle, Boulder, Corvallis, and Eugene.

We aren’t from San Diego.

Not necessarily snow, but cold and wind are the B1G conditions -especially mid-November on.

Nobody voted Oregon #7. That is showing the high and low ranking of the entire season, so we were 7th a couple weeks ago.
