Charles Fischer Administrator No. 1 Share Posted November 3 The first show showing CFB Playoff Rankings or seeding takes place this Tuesday at 7:00 PM Eastern, 4:00 PM Pacific on ESPN. It will take place every Tuesday at that time for another month... Puny Ponderings of a FishDuck... An odd game that materialized different than what we've seen before. While we are all nitpicking, (as I am) the bottom line is that Oregon is still pretty good. It would appear from reports that Marcus Harper is going to be OK, which is actually more crucial than Tez at the moment. Holden replaced Tez just fine, but we do not have a single backup at any position on the offensive line if there is an injury to a starter. Sorry, but that is my opinion... My observations of the replacement in another thread was not made from just yesterday; many times we had blocking blow-up on 4th down plays, and late in the game when subs were in....and it was Kwika Rogers responsible, but I did not write about it in articles or here in the forum. I just took note. Many may disagree with me, and that is fine. You know me; I call it good or not--trying to be straight. Is this what a FishDuck Looks Like? Tez Replacement on Third Down? While I like our wide receivers for this, I like our tight ends even more. Ferguson is back, and he'll always get open, but grooming Sadiq in this role is also a good idea since he is a matchup nightmare. He has the speed to get open, and he can out-muscle safeties for the ball at the high-point. Use him! Third Down Offense? I have wrote many times about how the offense and defense is a slow-rollout over the season, with most of the tasty stuff kept for the Playoff. I have written and wondered why, with the pass rush coming at us at times, that we have not run a Draw Play yet after eight games? And there we did in the first half against Michigan. We had a tailback draw to James for ten yards, and late in the first half a wonderful QB Draw for a touchdown. We gotta believe in their process; they saved the draw play for a team that they thought had the best interior defenders and pass rush. Bottom line is that we won the game without opening the playbook much, beat the spread, and got enough style points for the Playoff rankings coming up. 1 2 4 1 Mr. FishDuck
30Duck Moderator No. 2 Share Posted November 3 The Playoff Show is full of Buckeyes, Herbie is okay, Joey Galloway is all Buckeye and Greg McElroy, from 'Bama. It is indeed a sign of how good and deep the Ducks are in 2024 when losing a player like Tez, for any amount of time isn't a game changer.
David Marsh No. 3 Share Posted November 3 I wouldn't be surprised if the Ducks come in at No. 2 in the playoff committee rankings behind Georgia. I'd be shocked to see us any lower. Ohio State probably No. 3 It will be interesting to see where Boise State lands.

But I expect OBD to be No.1. and after beating Penn State, tOSU could be No. 2.
1Ducker1 No. 5 Share Posted November 3 We just need to win out and be prepared to beat either Indiana or tOSU in the B1G championship game. Nothing else matters.
Solar No. 6 Share Posted November 3 (edited) I feel we've lost a lot without Tez. I think it affected Gabriel quite a bit to not have a safety blanket that can get open at will, and cost us somewhere between 3 and 10 points, which I expect to continue until he returns. And it was Lowe that moved to the slot for the most part which allowed Holden back in full time out wide. I love Lowe, but he is merely great while Tez is the most efficient WR in the country, and truly elite. Edited November 3 by Solar
EastBayDuckDad Moderator No. 7 Share Posted November 3 I would be surprised if the CFP committee pushed Georgia over Oregon for #1. Florida gave them all they could handle at home until the 4th qtr. Oregon went into the Big House and put at least as big a hurt on Michigan as Texas did. OBD deserves to be #1 until proven otherwise. The ESPN pundits just put Oregon in the Rose Bowl as #1 against #8 or #9 Notre Dame and then in the NC game against Georgia. Continue to take care of business and that sounds just about right.
