Smith72 Moderator No. 2 Share Posted Monday at 02:06 PM Thanks for being a FishDuck writer Alex. Count me as one of many who are concerned about the 3rd quarter too. That is a problem, but I do realize that others teams have a part in contributing to this. They make halftime adjustments too. They are coached up and make changes in their pregame plans. It takes some time to figure that out. They also have pride and a desire to get back in the game. The BIG teams we have played have good players and good coaches. Our Duck coaches have prepared our players to handle them well. I do have trust in Coach Lanning and his staff! Go Ducks! 9 wins and 0 losses! Haywarduck Moderator No. 3 Share Posted Monday at 02:14 PM If you are going to lose a quarter, or be weak in one spot, third quarter might be the one. Just another genius move by Lanning, maybe? Always have one area where you can improve and shift into 5th gear as the playoffs come closer. My takeaways of the game: Positives - Beating Michigan--a storied program--in front of ~110K fans at the stadium and millions all over the nation - Dillon Gabriel looks great back there against a tough Michigan D-line - Uniforms . . . beautiful Negatives - Injuries to key players - Lack of offense in the 2nd half - No sacks on the Michigan QB was a bit alarming Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...

Naji Saker is a superb photographer who uses great judgement in the composition of his photos, and that top featured photo is a great example. 30Duck No. 6 Share Posted Monday at 06:26 PM What we learned is that the B1G isn't all that big. As far as Showtime! It's Oregon and Indiana. Ohio State and Penn State got B1G game treatment, but compared to tOSU @ Oregon it was Jaws 3. 18 teams in the B1G, but there was a lot more depth in the Pac-12. No wonder a B1G Power Ranking is as interesting as an insurance brochure, after the Top 3, it doesn't matter. Besides Lanning and Cignetti do any of the other coaches look like they're having any fun at all? The Oregon players would run through a wall for Lanning, though I suspect Stein would scheme up something to go around it, Penn State is so slow with their ground game, it would just be, thud and stop. They stole Riley, his golden boy qb and all was right again in tinsel town. Although Riley was 1-3 in bowl games, and only won a bowl during the covid season they were cock sure they had their man. After all he was the sure thing, and all the pundits agreed. Me thinks the potential is huge, but the problem with sc is.... and their next coach will be the same thing. O line depth spooks me a bit if we take another injury hit....but otherwise, we have tested 2 deep in each unit with some 3 deep. Last year the "middle eight minutes" was a mantra and team delivered. This year the formula seems to be a brute force first half to build a cushion and then rope-a-dope the 3rd quarter to react to halftime adjustments, drain clock and slow bleed the opponent so the 4th quarter is surrender time.
