kirklandduck Moderator No. 1 Share Posted 10 hours ago https://athlonsports.com/college/oregon-ducks/first-college-football-playoff-bracket-unveiled-with-a-great-bonus-for-the-ducks Quote Moments ago the College Football Playoff Committee released its first bracket, and the layout of the 12-team playoff features a key advantage for the Ducks. If they hold on to their position as the #1-seed, they'll play their quarterfinal game as the home team in the Rose Bowl. I didn't stop to think about this but if OBD finishes as the #1 seed then they get another bye week then play on pretty close to a home field. To me that's even better than the #5 seed to play against the G5 rep (likely BSU) at home. 1
Charles Fischer Administrator No. 2 Share Posted 10 hours ago Good gosh...to be able to play in the Rose Bowl...for our fans and players? Pretty good incentive to win out and win the B1G Championship game! 2 1 Mr. FishDuck
30Duck No. 3 Share Posted 10 hours ago Okay, for a while I thought that finishing No.5 and starting off with a home game might be a "good and good" type of deal. But no. Being No.1 when this starts and being No.1 when it's over, is the only option. 1
kirklandduck Author Moderator No. 4 Share Posted 10 hours ago If the season were to end today then Oregon would be playing the winner of Indiana vs Tennessee, either team would make for a great game against the Ducks!

The opening 1st round game will be played on 12/19 with the other 3 played on the 20th. Having a bye means your team is off from the champ game on 12/7/24 to 1/1/25. So 24 days off before playing in Pasadena and added time to prepare for the first PO opponent and game. How about an Old School matchup against Big Ten Indiana?

College Football Playoff TIERS | Oregon, Texas Georgia, Miami Top Tier? | Tennessee, LSU Pushing! Thanks, 30. As I have posted before, I think Miami is Missouri in waiting. Texas was blown out by Georgia and its two 'signature wins came against a team that likely won't go bowling, Oklahoma, and a team not yet bowl-eligible, Michigan. The Horns had a close call at Vandy, and have not ranked opponents in Florida, a road game at Arkansas, Kentucky, and versus an A+M team in College Station that was blown out by South Carolina, remaining. Texas has one of the easier SEC conference schedules that but for venues will be repeated next season. I have no idea why the Georgia, Alabama, Oklahoma, and Mississippi State ADs bought into this rinse-and-repeat instead of going to nine conference games. LSU? Looked lost in the second half versus A+M. Tennessee is another SEC team with an easy conference schedule that especially with a bad loss at Arkansas, should not be ahead of a BYU team with wins over No. 13 SMU on the road and a blowout of No. 19 K State in Logan. Tennessee did beat a No. 11 Bama team that self-destructed in Knoxville. Left on the Vols schedule, Mississippi State, at Georgia, UTEP , and Vandy in Nashville. Good luck in Athens and Vandy on the road will not be a pushover. A number of the 2 loss-ranked SEC teams will have 3 losses before 12/8/24. One of Bama/LSU will have 3 losses after Saturday's game. Will a 3-loss SEC team make the playoff?
Grandpa Duck No. 8 Share Posted 4 hours ago I’ve been to the Rose Bowl to see Oregon get beat by tOSU. Most of the stadium was red, cheering for the team that travelled farther. I’ve been to Glendale, Arizona to see the Ducks lose to Auburn, also with the OBD fans greatly outnumbered. Maybe times have changed and the OBD faithful will show up for a quarterfinal game in Pasadena. Like it or not, despite moving to the B1G, our alum size is no where near large enough to give us a home field advantage in the Rose Bowl.
Charles Fischer Administrator No. 9 Share Posted 3 hours ago True, a larger opposing fan base is assumed, but it would be cool for our players to be in the Rose Bowl instead of a southern location. If we win out…we have to play in Indianapolis for the B1G Championship, and our fans would most certainly be swamped. So if the next stop was the Rose Bowl…I would be thrilled for the team.
