DrJacksPlaidPants Moderator No. 2 Share Posted November 11 LSU lost to USuC. They’re not a good football team. Bama hasn’t played good football since the 2nd quarter of the UGA game. They blow out a LSU team who has no defense and now they’re national championship contenders? I guess we’ll see.

Nevada Dawg No. 4 Share Posted November 11 Yeah Finebaum is a jewel isn't he? But his critique of Georgia's play yesterday was close to spot on, and the Dawgs do have to win out to see the playoffs. It will be interesting to see where the Dawgs are ranked by the CFP Committee on Tuesday night. Given the strength of their schedule, I suspect it will be somewhat higher than the 11th or 12th they fell to in the media polls. But even so, rankings are meaningless this far from the end in any poll (although the Ducks deserve their ranking at this point), and the Dawgs do need to win out to see the postseason promised land. 1
30Duck Author No. 5 Share Posted November 11 Sure, put a team in with 3 losses. What? Fans are going to go crazy if a strong SEC team is left behind. The CFB world might witness significant backlash from fans and supporters of the conference. Why are we discussing a team with three losses getting to the playoffs? Well, because it is highly likely that a team with two losses will play the SEC championship game. Naturally, if the one with two losses faces defeat in that game, their record will show three losses. One of those teams can be Bama, despite their uptick in form in the last few weeks. They are already at two losses, and while they are still a little behind from imagining playing in the SEC championship game, why stop from hoping for it?

As I believed could be the case in the preseason, the Athens Dawgs was one of the SEC teams that looked like it was handed the short end of the SEC scheduling stick in 2024, and UGA took on Clemson in the opener and still has a feisty Georgia Tech team to play. Top 10 Tennessee visits Athens Saturday. Geogia has already played four games against teams in the Committee's Top 25, three on the road. Scheduling in these mega-conferences is all over the place when it comes to SOS. Georgia plays 8 conference games in 2024 and misses 7 SEC teams. OBD plays 9 conference games in 2024 and misses 7 B1G teams. In 2025, Michigan and Ohio State are not on the Oregon schedule. Georgia in 2025 plays the same cast of characters. MIami in 2024 plays 8 conference games and misses 8 conference teams including Clemson, Pitt, and SMU. Miami also misses half-ACC'd Notre Dame. Since 2017, Notre Dame is 45-7 vs the ACC in the regular season; 4-0 in 2024 with one ACC game leaft to be played vs UVA on Staurday. Notre Dame plays 4 G5 opponents in 2024 and of course, will not play a conference champ game. Was 3-loss Louisville ranked last week to justify Miami being ranked at No. 4. Louisville is Miami's sole top 25 win. Committee Chair Ward Manuel said Miami looked good according to the Committee's Eye Test. Did these folks not watch the VA Tech, Cal, and Duke games? In its win over Louisville, Tyler Shough had better stats than Cam Ward. In many respects, the Committee is doing what Greg Sankey and Tony Petitti feared, far too much eye-testing and not enough statistical analysis although we do not know the metrics this Committee uses and how the metrics are valued. I'm reasonably certain that Boise could defeat both BYU and Miami and I watched 4-5 Nebraska destroy CU. I hope the UGA team that trampled Texas shows up Saturday. The Bama team Tennessee played at home was certainly not the Bama team that destroyed LSU on Saturday. NIL and a mostly unrestricted right to transfer has spread the wealth and it shows first and foremost in the SEC. Vanquish the Vols! All the talk about Miami's great comeback wins, no thought given on why Miami needed to come back against those teams, never mind, that the video review had more to do with all of them than Ward did.
