FishDuck Article Administrator No. 1 Share Posted November 11 Our Oregon Ducks football program lined up for its 10th game of the season this past Saturday, taking on the Maryland Terrapins in Autzen Stadium to continue their perfect regular season run. The final score ended up being 39-18 with the Ducks on top, but this was certainly far from the product we might have expected after how the team’s ... 30Duck Moderator No. 2 Share Posted November 11 Alex, I think you summed it perfectly. OBD had an off game, but never once was the game in jeopardy. On a day when Miami and Georgia stumbled and fell, Indiana sneaked past offensively challenged Michigan, Oregon Maryland by 21. Should Oregon switch Gernorris Wilson to receiver? The fake punt wasn't up there with the 12;th man, but it showed again what an advantage Oregon has with Lanning as its coach. The penalties and drops were mistakes, no doubt, but in a marathon of 7 games straight mistakes are bound to happen, best to get them out of the way in a 3 touchdown win.
Gotcha No. 3 Share Posted November 11 On top of all the issues, it appears the play calling was very plain vanilla. Nothing to see here, move along.
Dave23 No. 4 Share Posted November 11 I feel like Lanning wanted to give his guys a fun game that wasn't super intense. He is doing something different this year on the player management front. The Ducks are going to play more games than they ever have in one season. I believe he's trying to keep the players sharper for longer and not burn them out with pure intensity ever game. These young adults have a ton of pressure on them and if you don't give them a "fun game" occasionally the mental stress can be worse than the physical stress. With my kids it's important to keep it fun during a long season of sports even if that means taking a little heat for not scoring 50 points every game. 1 2 4

This is becoming more and more apparent, as the Dan Lanning Era at Oregon Rises. So much so that college football "pundits" are taking notice at the national level along with other high profile football programs. Even us fans are starting to "see" a difference on how Oregon approaches roster management and, more importantly, the "human" psyque management, something that DL excels at, almost to the point of "gifted". Because of DL and company, Oregon Football may be positioned the best to "manage" the intricacies of the new NFL-Lite more than any other D-1 program. We haven't even begun to see the benefits of this fact. Go Ducks! 1 1

You know, he made a high, athletic catch, and I thought he might stumble before the goal line. DC Featherbutt No. 7 Share Posted November 11 Is it just me or does anybody else think that Gernorris Wilson is going to be a sure fire fan favorite in the coming years? There always seems to be one on the OL - JPJ, Sewell, Grasu, Forsyth. This guy is big, is getting trusted with stuff early in his career, and seems like a really great interview. My money is on him becoming a “face” of the program. We really don’t have a big man “face” right now. Maybe Ajani, maybe Burch, but we need a big ol’ turd like JPJ was. Me thinks Gernorris potentially is that guy. 1
Solar No. 8 Share Posted November 11 "They simply are too much of a juggernaut for anyone to beat them but THEMSELVES. " I prefer we do NOT head down the road of tOSU fans with that kind of mentality. You have to always respect the team on the other side. If we get beat, it means the other team played better than us and we need acknowledge that. 3

I agree, basically any comparison to tOSU fans should be avoided. This is a step to being so myopic that you don't appreciate wins anymore, you just accumulate them. If your team is so good that wins are inevitable, where's the fun? Edited November 11 by 30Duck 1
