According to the guys on the radio the Ducks have three 2 point wins in a row against the Beavs at Gill.

Luke Jackson doing commentary on the broadcasts. If the Ducks win it will be a come from behind win, as the Beavs take a 2-0 lead.

It's really frustrating that there is another game without any TV. Even the radio is cutting out with long pauses with poor quality.  At least with the PAC 12 most of the games were on TV. I love watching the basketball teams and I have yet to see any games, men or women.

The Ducks love 3's. If they shot them better, they'd never lose, down 27-21.

Pretty unacceptable half so far, one team looks like they want it, the other just wants to jack up threes, get it together!  Awful defense, weak weak weak

Horrible, absolutely horrible half, slow, weak, completely getting embarrassed out there, that is truly pathetic effort against a mediocre opponent, means more to one team.

Beavers lead by 10, 47-37 at halftime, actually lucky to be that close.

The Ducks have been sucessful with halftime adjustments so far, namely stop shooting all the 3's, rebound, play defense.

Yeah, I'm hopeful it will happen, really disappointing to see this effort, Shelsted has to begin playing better, he's been pretty bad the entire year.

Last season, in the game at Corvallis the Ducks led 36-24 at halftime, ended up winning 60-58.

Ducks getting outrebounded, 27-16. Beavers have 12 offensive rebounds, Ducks have 0.

Some day we'll be a good shooting team, some day, I don't know when but we'll have to luck into a team that actually shoots well again at some point.  It has to happen at some point.

Beavers have made 2 of their last 10 shots, Ducks still behind by 12, 11 minutes left.

It's harder to tell on the radio, but Bittle is the star so far. Beavers have gone cold again, and the Ducks are catching up this time, 61-55, 10:08 left.

Bittle basically carrying the team on his back, great effort by him.

Hook shot by Bittle ties it, 66-66.

Ducks on a 10-0 run, Shelstad has two 3's in a row, Ducks lead, 69-66.

The team is just different when Shelsted is shooting well, he is so important as a scoring point guard.

Bittle has been amazing tonight, hard to remember a game where 1 player was making as big an impression on a game as he is tonight.

Three 3's in a row for Shelstad, which is great. But he'll be even better when he can make other shots in a game.

He made another shot in the game 30!  That's quite a take by him, he certainly has the alpha dog mentality to take that sort of shot.

There he goes, Shelstad for 2, Ducks lead 76-73 with 12 seconds left.

It is a come from behind win for the Ducks, 78-75!!!!

Game ball goes to Bittle, Shelstad had a good game, but Bittle just took over and carried the team on his back when they needed him the most, Dante like performance by him.  If he can play like that, Oregon will have a shot to do damage.

23 points and 13 rebounds for Bittle?  Whew!  What a confidence booster, as he knows now he can dominate inside the paint.  He has really perfected an unblockable baby-hook.

The Ducks have been tested and had to surge back against teams in the state, (Portland and OSU) but this experience in a hostile court will help them.  Man, Brandon Angel has a smooth shot at times...

Good gosh the drive to the basket by Shelstad to put us ahead by two at the end....wow what a tough shot to make!

Mr. FishDuck

I just remember that Oregon, under Altman, has always struggled early in the year.  They keep getting better and peak at the end of the year.  I used to get frustrated by it not any more, it has happened so often.

Shelstad had 6 assists, all in the first half. That's bringing it when your shots aren't falling.

So... Sticking with a program for multiple years actually pays off???

Who would have thought?

I'm shocked!

Yeah, who would have thought, it's not like this isn't how sports worked for like......ever.

Ducks have now won 8 straight vs Beavers.  The four wins in Corvallis:  2, 2, 2, 3 pts.

Beavs have 9 foreign players on their roster this season.  5 of them scored.   Their maturity will likely carry them to a bunch of wins if they get some home crowd support from Beavis fans.   They'll have Gonzaga, St. Mary's, Pepperdine, Santa Clara, Portland home and away, but based on tonight I think they can be competitive.

Ducks are in their typical Atlman pulling his hair out phase until they can be more consistent on defense, and find a reliable perimeter shooter.  Playing physical on the road in the Big Ten will be a new adventure.

Twasnt Purty...but the Beavs Always give our teams "fits" in Corvallis.  And we always seems to squeak out a nailbiter in the end.  Was nice to see Bittle settling into his "big man" role and Shelstad finally started making his shots.

The tourney in Vegas over Thanksgiving should give us a whole lot better "feel" for the ceilings and floors for this team early in the season.

Go 🦆🏀!

Yeah, I have a feeling it's going to be very pretty rough experience at times.  B1G has a rep for having officials that let a lot go.  I know we sort of thought we would have the same experience in football, but I have a feeling it might turn out to be more true in basketball, don't have any proof, just my feeling on the matter.

I think the Beavs will be decent, WCC is a very good mid major conference, could see them just below Gonzaga and St. Mary's.  I actually think they might have fun in that conference.

Oregon has the tools to be good, they shot better than what it felt like, a lot of that came from the shooting late in the game from Shelstad.

Need Bamba to get going with his shot, this team really does have the potential to be a good offensive team, they have a lot of weapons.  I think we can play in multiple ways as well.  Bittle looks like he can be that post presence.  Shelstad can be a very good PG, Bamba has a history of being a good shooter, Angel is a nice stretch 4.  We can play inside and out, Barthelemey can be a microwave off the bench, it's still an exciting team I think.

The shooting did turn out better than it seemed, but in this one, and against Portland, the Ducks are sending up the 3's too quickly, try, try again, doesn't seem like a strategy they want to keep going with this season.  The real problem laast night though was rebounding, which more than anything else depends on effort.

The Ducks ended up getting outrebounded, 38-30. Inside of that, the Beavers finished with 17 offensive rebounds, the Ducks with 7. At one point it was OSU 12 Oregon 0, so the the offensive rebound surge for the Ducks was a crucial ingredient in the comeback.

I am glad they played better and won the game. The first half they were just going down the court and jacking up the threes. If was the coach and a player ran down the court and heaved up a three without running a play, I would bench them unless that player was really hot. Ralph Miller, upon whom the court was named was an outstanding coach and he had a quote, "You can only shoot after the ball has been passed around five times."

Of course that was before the shot clock. I remember one time, when Oregon State was number one in the country, hard to believe but true, they played Stanford. It was a purely defensive game and the final score was 18 to 16. Oregon State won. Lots of passing in that game.

On January 28, 1980, Oregon State beat Stanford 18-16. (Yes, in basketball.)
