10-1 Oregon Ducks Move Up to No.10

Keeshawn Barthelemy-

We do have a sense as a team we can win any game, I don't know what we have to do to start games better in the first half, but it bit us in the behind a little bit.

The ducks are playing a good game. The ducks have a significant size advantage and it shows.

Much better in the second half. Scoring was well balanced.. Evans went down, I hope is okay, he was playing well. The only thing I see they need to do is offensive rebounding.

1 point for Shelstad, 0-4 shooting, 1-2 free throws, but the Ducks won. SFA has been in "March Madness", probably not this year.

30Duck, many thanks for the heads-up on the game.  They played a fine game, but I sure wish the guys were more aggressive in rebounding.

Dana said in his presser that he banged it really hard and that it is going to be sore, but they didn’t think anything was structurally wrong.  That is great news if true.

That is great news.

The Ducks didn't take a lot of shots, 25-49, 51%. 7-19, 38% on 3's, Angel was 4-5, 1-2 on FT's 15 points to lead the team. The Lumberjacks out rebounded the Ducks, 36-34, and offensive rebounds was 19-13. Part of that was because SFA shot 25-63, 39.7%

Good news then on Evans. He played a good game, best this year that I have seen. He needs to be more aggressive in his rebounding but otherwise his game looks good. Very balanced scoring by the team although the main scorers were the bench. They scored 44 points. That is a great sign.

There are a bunch of guys that are struggling right now, and this team is still winning games in November and December.  That is a great sign for an Altman team.

Shelstad has just been off.

Bamba is working through a terrible shooting slump.  The last three games he is 2-13, 0-fer, and 2-7.

Moss just doesn’t look comfortable out there yet.

Evans had a rough stretch too, but was looking good last night before the injury.

The good news is this team is very deep and there almost no dropoff when you go to the bench.  There are 10 guys that can hurt you on any given night.

If Shelstad, Evans, and Bamba can turn the corner, this is going to be a very hard team to beat in March.

Angel looked great last night. He was the top scorer. Luke Jackson said that he is the leader of the team. Evans also was playing really well until he got hurt. Hopefully he isn't out and can play in the next game.

Where did this kid come from?  He has no ranking, but his video looks pretty good!   Anyone know anything about the kid?

The only thing that really makes me a bit concerned about this team is the rebounding, I think they have enough offense and defense to do a ton of damage this year, but the defensive rebounding is what might cause them some problems.  If we could get consistent with this aspect then we'll be a top 3 team in league and I think a top 4 seed in the tourney with upside of a possible 2 seed.

Looking at the next 5 games I could see Oregon pulling into it's matchup with Purdue at 15-2.  They certainly have a good shot at 16-1 if they can get some of the guys out their shooting slumps.  You do have to say that Barthelemy is probably not going to continue shooting 83% from three in away games.  In general though the return to the mean for shooting averages would suggest that Oregon is due to start getting better shooting overall as a team from 3.

Once this happens, I hope they'll remain committed to pounding it inside with Bittle, Angel, and Cook.  Our bread and butter should be getting to the basket, that's what our strength is I think.

Update on Evans. Sounds like he is back at practice, but limited a little.
