30Duck Moderator No. 2 Share Posted yesterday at 12:53 AM I can see increasing the capacity by 8.000 or more. The situations are different, Mac Court, "The Pit" was literally crumbling, it had to be replaced. But MKA doesn't offer close to the fan experience that "The Pit" did. Autzen has the same identity, smaller, but very intimidating to opposing teams and their fans. Don't lose that by going bigger, but not better. 1 2
QuackAttack No. 3 Share Posted yesterday at 02:45 AM Finishing out the stadium wouldn't change the noise factor. The reason the South side of the stadium has the same shape is because they did sound studies and that is what gave Autzen its noise factor. So, it would literally be the old Autzen with more capacity. There isn't going to me more room on the sidelines, so it is going to feel just as intimidating. CRACK OPEN THE CHECKBOOK UNCLE PHIL, multiple Natty's to come with a larger stadium. 3
Duckhart2 No. 4 Share Posted yesterday at 03:03 AM 8000 more seats would be my recommendation. 1
JW Approved No. 5 Share Posted yesterday at 03:31 AM I've been told size doesn't matter... At least that is what I've heard from my Duke friends when referencing Cameron Indoor, and the "Cameron Crazies". The roughly 54,000-60,000 seems like a reasonable amount to me. I'm hoping for an updated north side with an over hanging roof similar to the south side. I really think the roof improves the noise level. Or some crazy outer shell like at Hayward Field. That has a great sound trap even when the crowd isn't very large. Go Ducks!
JabbaNoBargain No. 6 Share Posted yesterday at 07:20 AM (edited) Absolutely should expand. I think it’s charming we can tout always being over capacity, but we need the operational funds and more capacity for the mega-games. kirklandduck Moderator No. 7 Share Posted 22 hours ago I echo some of the others where expanding some capacity would be good as long as you don't ruin the charm and experience (not to mention the noise advantage). But before that even becomes an official conversation the parking lot access, arterial roads to and from the freeway, and the freeway on/off ramps MUST be upgraded first for the love of Pete! 1
Canvasback No. 8 Share Posted 16 hours ago The north side of the stadium has poor access to restrooms, concessions, and seats. An expansion could fix that as well as add some seats. Someone smarter than me can figure out the optimal number of additional seats we could add. Kirklandduck has a good point about parking and transportation.
OregonDucks No. 9 Share Posted 15 hours ago It would be nice if they "expanded" Autzen stadium to be symmetrical and upgraded the amenities (e.g., restrooms, concessions, media area) on the North side. However, like you mentioned in the article they have to ensure that it will maintain the acoustics. In terms of Matthew Knight Arena, while I agree that, regrettably, Mac Court had to be retired, I do not understand why they didn't try to replicate the design in the new area. Matthew Knight has no unique character. The designers could have maintained the tiered balconies and the proximity of the fans to the court. Unfortunately, Matt, looks just like any other newer basketball area in college or the NBA. It is devoid of character and atmosphere. Really a shame and lost opportunity. 1 1

MKA is the antithesis of every other sports related structure at the U of O.
NJDuck Moderator No. 11 Share Posted 13 hours ago The North side does need upgrading in amenities, better wifi experience, lighting, etc. Also should upgrade the Northside capacity to match the Southside with a roof. I also agree with kirklandduck. They need to have better access for parking, etc. They should look into parking garages.
