Say Can You SEC That You Aren't That Good?

Recommended Posts

The USA Today's Dan Wolken does not pull any punches in the direction of the SEC. WOW!

The SEC, which only has one team left in the College Football Playoff, is just like everyone else now. And that's a good thing.

Fun read for Dixie outliers but IMO an overreaction to one tough year exacerbated by SEC HQ coming up with puzzling in-conference schedules. And the SEC is repeating the schedules in 2025? 😁

Isn't Greg Sankey supposed to be the smartest guy in the CFB World?

Hey Lane, nice win over Duke yesterday, a team from a truly crummy conference without its starting TD who left Duke for Oregon State 🤮.

Funny how things seem to have changed with NIL and the transfer portal leveling the playing field.

Overreaction? I'm not so sure. As Wolken said, fortunes will ebb and flow and the SEC will be tops again at some point. But, the game has really changed for good, and some programs like Oregon are running with the changes and making the best of them, while other programs struggle with the new landscape. It will be interesting to watch what happens over the next few years.

It seems pretty obvious to this observer that $10M is the necessary buy-in now.

And with it being legal now, above board, everybody can get in on buying better players.

With conference realignment, the best can choose coast-to-coast and still get fam & friends to the game.

The days of the SEC controlling the narrative are over.

Saban knew it was time to get out.
