Charles Fischer Administrator No. 1 Share Posted January 9 John Canzano had an article today detailing the massive heist/haul the new Pac-12 is receiving from the departing ten Pac-12 members. Many of you have asked about this number from time-to-time and where the money came from. The topic also came up with the recent Rose Bowl... 100 Million from the Rose Bowl for this year and next at 50 Million per year. (We played in it, yet received nothing!) 90 Million in NCAA Basketball payouts and other unspecified revenue units. 65 Million total paid by all ten former Pac-12 schools over the next two years. 255 Million total arrived at by the settlement reached in December of 2023. This does not include the revenue they will receive from fees paid by those who wish to use former Pac-12 TV footage, pictures, etc. Don't forget the Pac-12 Network that was taken as well, and has been moved, and is now generating revenue for current Pac-12 members. Whew! My Duck-Buddies....what we have to remember is that in terms of media revenue--we are getting twice the total revenues with the B1G compared to if we had taken the Apple/Pac-12 offer. We would be streaming, and NOBODY would be watching us between the streaming cost and the time zone issues. Oregon is also receiving a hefty payout as being a part of the B1G in the CFB Playoff. We will be fine, and the Scrap-12 has a sweet 255 million golden parachute into their new CW world. We'll see how well these pigs can swim on their own... 2 1 Mr. FishDuck
DuckFan93 No. 2 Share Posted January 9 This is just outrageous. Who agreed to the settlement? How is it fair at all for them to get 50M from Rosebowl that they have no business in at all? SMH...

Jon Joseph Moderator No. 4 Share Posted January 9 THIS, when there was no exit fee to be paid. When the Pac-2 had not sued for damages. When 10 members whether board members or not could have joined to file BK. And the people who were willingly held up are supposed to be some of the brightest on the block, right? If only fans had standing and could sue for Breach of Fiduciary Duty with a side order of GROSS Negligence. Perfect timing with the Ho(u)se Settlement on the horizon. It was and is a B1G deal to have escaped this insanity.
HDuck No. 5 Share Posted January 9 Not to be forgotten is the Whitman County judge decision that penalized the majority of Pac12 schools for "departing early." Whitman Co. judge rules WSU, OSU have control of Pac-12 conference | Sports | kxly.com But, his decision was based on the schools giving prior notice rather than waiting until the end of the Pac12 contract. His interpretation was notice of intent to leave creates the date of departure. Thus, all those schools would have been better off not giving notice and instead "hiding" their intent to leave until the end of the contract. The Washington Supreme Court then denied requests to review the decision. Court denies review of Pac-12 appeal, handing league control to Oregon State, Washington State WWW.USATODAY.COM Washington Supreme Court declined to review Pac-12’s appeal of lower court ruling that gives control of league to Oregon State and Washington State. In his original decision, Libey asked WSU and OSU to be fair in their judgement to the other schools, and to make decisions in the best interest of the conference. Whether the 10 schools have the guts to go back to Libey and ask for reconsideration based upon OSU and WSU actions appears doubtful. But, if they think they have any grounds to do so - particular for Rose Bowl and NCAA Tournament shares - they should do so. 2

GatOrlando No. 7 Share Posted January 9 Did the Big 12 get anything close to this when Colorado left the first time to join the then PAC 10? How come Oregon has to agree to this when they and everybody else were leaving with no tethers? Was it to get the playoffs deal approved? It won't hurt those that left but it does prop up a worthless league who are putting those millions of dollars into their corrupt hands. It's not going into building a structure or the student athletes pockets.

But Beavis would have you believe that "they are good people" who were unfairly treated. Then they went out and destroyed the Mountain West Conference, the West Coast Conference in Basketball, and have their eye yet on the AAC for Memphis, etc. We actually felt BAD when we left, but Beavis is rejoicing at the demise of other conferences. 1 1 Mr. FishDuck

Beavis lol. Florida State tried to force their way out of the ACC but they were dumb enough to sign a grant of rights deal through the 30's.
