spartan2785 No. 4 Share Posted February 8 (edited) Toughness, that's the difference, toughness, I love when Cook gave a forearm shiver to the big earlier in the game, loved Bamba going hard to the rim, love Evans fighting for everything down low, energy and toughness, be tougher than the other team, that's what wins in the B1G. Very few easy buckets for MSU, a few shots from the outside where we should not have gone under the screen, but I can't really think of any easy buckets at the rim. spartan2785 No. 5 Share Posted February 8 Wow, it's amazing what energy will do for your shooting percentages, probably helps that Bamba doesn't have a 3 attempt. We've had great looks overall, we haven't been stationary, we've moved the ball, haven't settled for early 3s, gone to the rim with aggression, just a great half of basketball. Once again it starts with toughness and energy on the defensive end. MSU didn't have a bad offensive first half, but we made them work for it, which hasn't happened in many of our losses. 30Duck Author Moderator No. 6 Share Posted February 8 Okay, Key was O-Fer from 3 until he hits a buzzer beater to give the Ducks a 50-37 lead at halftime. State got their first 2 on a put back, but their haven't been many of those. Ducks are playing this one better than they were at the start of the season. HDuck No. 7 Share Posted February 8 "....be tougher than the other team, that's what wins in the B1G" Aside from travel, new venues, fans who actually show up for games, coaching styles... the one thing I suggested before the season started still holds true. When you play in the B1G there is going to be a lot of banging and the B1G refs swallow their whistles. As I said, it may require Altman and staff to modify their recruiting priorities. But, it absolutely requires the roster to play tougher, more physical, than they did in the Pac12. No matter how this season turns out, players and staff need to really mentally encapsulate the lessons learned especially in B1G road games.

Yeah, it's a game you can't let off the gas for sure, we won't shoot as well, so we'll need our defense to stay tough.

GeotechDuck No. 11 Share Posted February 8 What an epic collapse to give the entire lead back.
spartan2785 No. 12 Share Posted February 8 Doesn't help when MSU has basically their best shooting performance ever, always seems to happen to us. Literally don't think they've missed a single open three, not a single one.
GeotechDuck No. 13 Share Posted February 8 That is a reoccurring theme. I think when you are 180th in defense, a lot of teams have their best shooting games ever.
spartan2785 No. 14 Share Posted February 8 Partially seeing what a great crowd can do, meanwhile Oregon's fanbase has no interest in anything other than football, kind of sad to be honest.
spartan2785 No. 15 Share Posted February 8 Got completely outplayed by a freshman, nobody wanting to take responsibility on offense, no leaders in the second half, toughness just goes back to being charmin soft. So sad to see.
candyduck No. 16 Share Posted February 8 I think Izzo Hurley-ed the refs with his tirades! The refs called things they weren't calling in the first half, mostly on the ducks. Does anyone really think the ducks had a chance on MSUs home court the way they've been playing...nope! I'm encouraged or at least hoping they learned something on this road trip! I expected they'd get blown out both games! Typical Altman team. Backs against the wall. Now is the time to to start playing with urgency(hopefully) like they usually do this time of year.

HDuck No. 18 Share Posted February 8 Izzo gets "THE win." 353-171 in the B1G, age 70 at MSU 353-151 Bob Knight, age 59 at Indiana Not sure which of the two wins the Oscar for sideline performances? 12-0 at home, 2025 19-5 ranked No.
30Duck Author Moderator No. 19 Share Posted February 8 According to the guys on TV this is the first 5 L's in a row for a Ducks team in 11 years, historically that means the Ducks win the last 7 conference games, at least get to conference championship game and a Sweet 16. This year? Probably not. Honestly, sadly, I don't think Izzo or the team were that concerned about being down at halftime. There were some adjustments, but Michigan State really just showed up and Oregon, choked, caved, wilted. Shelstad is mastering David Copperfield in the way he can disappear. Evans had the best 40 minutes; Key made a shot that should have filled the Ducks with momentum going into the 2nd half. State had just lost 2 straight, Illinois is around .500 after blowing the Ducks out. Right now, No.16 Kansas is going to lose to unranked Kansas St. Auburn and Duke are on top, but this is going to be a crazy "March Madness."
GeotechDuck No. 21 Share Posted February 8 What is the most Q1 wins a team has had in a single season and still not made the NCAA tourney. We have a shot at that record?

We have a shot at that record? Can't find the answer to that; last season 9 teams made the tournament with 8 Q1 wins, Kansas had the most, with 17. OBD have been stuck on 8 while Alabama now has 12. Oregon has 7 games left, and currently 2, @ Iowa and Wisconsin, are Q1.
