It Was a Loooooong Trip for The Ducks to Get to the NCAA Tournament

Recommended Posts

Since their season began in November, the Ducks have crisscrossed the country so frequently that the total distance they’ve traveled this season amounts to 26,700 miles. For the record, that’s the equivalent of traveling the entire circumference of planet Earth—and then adding on a few thousand miles for good measure.

...Oregon was forced to spend several days away from campus due to Big Ten bylaws that require at least two days between games (other conferences don’t have this rule). When the Ducks made their first cross-country trip to play Ohio State and Penn State in January, the team spent six days and five nights on the road.

Yikes!

That's a lot of miles but not shocking. Based on geography, when Oregon is where it is, and the other teams are where they are, it is what it is. It's a lot. But the Ducks aren't travelling in a bus, and I'm thinking the players have laptops.

When the Tall Firs defeated Ohio State in Evanston, Illinois, to win the first NCAA Tournament, I believe the team traveled by train. And the train was not a chartered express.

There was no laptop content to entertain or educate the athletes.

I am not concerned about players who are being paid to play having to 'endure' air travel. A mode of travel the Tall Firs would have loved.
