Posted April 16Apr 16 A four-star recruit out of Junipero Serra High, the 5-foot-9, 180-pound Pleasant was ranked No. 90 nationally in the 247Sports Composite in the class of 2023. He is the 12th member of UO’s 2023 recruiting class to transfer and the highest-rated of those players. CBSSports.com first reported the portal entry of Pleasant, the 10th UO scholarship player to enter the portal this offseason and the first in the spring transfer window. His departure leaves UO with 82 projected scholarship players in 2025. Oregon coach Dan Lanning said Pleasant was participating in the team’s practices and meetings when available, but was participating in track again this spring. He had four tackles, one pass breakup and a forced fumble while appearing in seven games in 2023....had one tackle in four games while redshirting in 2024. Oregon CB and former four-star recruit Rodrick Pleasant enters the transfer portal
April 16Apr 16 Administrator When you have defensive backs as talented and deep as Oregon has...the question is not "if," but "who?" While I am disappointed at Pleasant leaving....it means he was passed up on the depth chart by someone even better, which is cool for the team. Someone like Rivals 5-Star Na'eem Offord? Mr. FishDuck

I loved his speed, sorry to see him go, but you’re right, especially with timing in the middle of spring practice, it’s because he was jumped by someone better and hungrier.
April 17Apr 17 In our new world order this is usually a good sign. Edited April 17Apr 17 by JabbaNoBargain
April 17Apr 17 I was hopeful that Pleasant was going to put it all together. He has some amazing speed. But speed isn't everything and he didn't put the rest of it together. In a way I am happy to see that we have enough talent to push players out and that's how we lose players from the program. They get passed up on the depth chart and look for greener pastures. I wish him the best.
April 17Apr 17 This interview with Sione Laulea sums up the competition—sounds like other players are hungrier and showing up earlier… Sione Laulea Discusses Oregon Cornerback Competition in Spring WWW.ON3.COM Sione Laulea is right in the thick of a heated competition at cornerback as Oregon looks to replace three starters from a season ago.
April 18Apr 18 It's tough being a 2 sport athelete, especially track and football. Being a sprinter he wouldn't want to add too much muscle bulk. And he has been competing in track meets. He recently came 3rd in the 100m with a 10.4 time or better. The 3 freshmen who came this year have been really excellent it seems, so good for RP to move on. I believe it leaves us 3 schollies to fill before Sept. Do we have any glaring needs to fill from the portal?

Lanning and co seem super happy with their guys right now and I think there is some real concern of anyone joining could disrupt the chemistry. If someone becomes available who is like an automatic first rounder and is a perfect pick for Oregon I'm sure Lanning will take a look. But beyond that .. doubt it.
April 18Apr 18 I'd feel better with the following portal additions: 1) elite/starting caliber linebacker; and a 2) blocking tight end.
