As reported today by Jon Wilner, 10,000-plus football players from FBS, FCS, D2, and D3 entered the portal in December and so far this Spring. 

 

Deion's critique of the House Settlement is spot on. $2.8 Billion to settle nothing outside of a limited group of House plaintiffs. 

 

Deion continues to justify his newly increased salary. Today's CU Spring Game is being broadcast on ESPN2. Today's Michigan Spring Game is not being broadcast on FS1 or as part of the Big Ten Network's regularly scheduled programs.

The man is controversial, but he attracts viewers to the college game.

He does do that. 

A considerable amount of what he says is valid.  It's just wading through all the self aggrandizement that is hard at times.

You couldn't have said that better.  The guy is smart.  He works hard.  He shows some level of concern for players ' futures.

 

Then he say stuff like "somebody get me a mirror" when asked who is the best coach in college football (among other things).

 

It reminds me of the time Richard Sherman ranted after an NFC Championship game when San Francisco beat Seattle.  What he said was perfectly logical, but the way he said it had people asking " what in the hell did he just say?".

 

Sometimes style detracts from the substance.

The phrase "If you're really good you don't need to say you are"¹ implies that if you are truly good or competent, you don't need to boast or advertise it.

Lanning is Lanning, I don't want any other coach, particularly Prime or Curt "Google Me" Cignetti, both polar opposites of everything I admire and respect about Lanning. Cignetti brought a bunch of transfers with him to Indiana and beat a season full of cupcakes, Sanders had the Heisman winner and a projected first round pick at quarterback, but couldn't win the Big 12, which incidentally was won by a coach who was under the radar for most of the season, Kenny Dillingham.

Gentlemen: I am locking the thread, as we had two very prominent OBD members who posted every day--get into a big dispute a year ago on this topic.  It set the stage for more discord on this topic later, and now both OBD members are gone--and it is all due to disagreement on Coach Sanders.

 

I don't like where this thread is headed, and we've lost enough good people to this topic.
