Reviewing College Football’s New Rules for 2025

Recommended Posts

The NCAA has a new slate of rules for 2025. I am going to summarize what these rules mean for the game and then give them a rating between 1 and 5 where 1 will be awful for the game and a 5 should be an amazing addition. ESPN published an article reviewing these new rules, which can be found ...

Thank you, David, for the great rule-change summary.

Lame Kiffin will (Ole) Miss being able to fake injuries.

A 'T-sign' controversy almost led to fisticuffs between Baby Beamer and Bret Bielema in the Cheeze-It Bowl. My money would have been on the 55-year-old Fighting Illini coach. Every fan knows that the 9-4 Gamecocks should have been in the PO field but not 10-3 Illinois, right?

I wonder if any 'stemming' will be going on in the student section? 🤪

Thanks again, and Come On 8/30!

WASTE WILLY and BASH the BRUINS! (I know Olympic bobsledder Akinasi Frimpong went to Utah Valley, but has anyone ever seen a Wolverine in Orem, Utah?)😁

The "Stemming" penalty, and "Kickoff Signaling" new rules are a good addition.

Thanks to David for bringing us up to date!

The Stemming penalty was just super frustrating these past few years. I get that it's not fair for a defense to be yelling out directions that sound like the quarterback to throw off the other team and cause a false start... but the defense gets to communicate. Nothing in the rule book says that the defense must operate in complete silence. Giving the defense clear words that are theirs also means the offense can't yell weird stuff to try and throw them off.

Clarity makes the best rules.
