I was wondering why we were wasting time on him? Even if he committed to Oregon and joined us in three years--he would not be ready for games until two years later, as that is assumed at Oregon? So why were we wasting time recruiting a QB who will not be helpful until 2030? Not sure it is still true, but some athletes would sign a letter of commitment rather than letter of intent to provide both the athlete and the school more flexibility. That may benefit the athlete if there is a potential for coaching changes while on a mission. Remember, this guy is still out there... Once committed to So Gatlin will be back for 2026 or 2027? Also he was recruited by Adams. It's just one more reason we need our new WR coach to really work some magic. I was watching the 2013 Texas vs Oregon Bowl game last night. The commentator noted we were destroying them by running everyone on go routes through lanes in the zone defense and Mariota must have thrown 10 passes in the 20-30 yard range + yac.
